good morning to everyone except for me, who is thinking about how percy instinctively feels safe in the water to the degree that when he's burning alive and in indescribable pain he just summons an ocean. the exact line is like, "i needed the water," and it's just, out of context, he sounds like a college-aged huntington beach surfer dweeb who lives on his board and reads poetry about the power of the ocean. but in context, he's fourteen, in too much pain to think, and he brings the one thing that has pretty much always guaranteed immediate safety to his immediate person. he said fuck it, emotional support ocean. this is especially interesting if you remember how many lines percy has in the first series about feeling so bad he wishes he could drown. that's emotionally upsetting, the fact that even his emotional support H2O, the place where he - a kid who is used to feeling attacked and physically threatened - is literally nearly invulnerable, is also a place he thinks, "i wish this could hurt me," about. even the places percy feels safest, like with his mother, are places he feels like ought to hurt him, because they can. he knows that intimately. this is too fucking sad, instead can we think about percy listening to a very poetic common octopus talk about the power of the ocean and percy just nodding along like, "yeah, man, that's - it really is like that, you know, how the tides.... they just fuckin' go. can't stop the tides. the moon, you know, it's the - oh, the moon? it's, the, the sky... orb. i'm sorry, man, i forgot that octopus school doesn't have earth science."

Instead of a Camp Swap how about Hera just kidnaps both Jason and Percy at the same time, wipes their memories, and puts them somewhere in like the midwest or the south together. 

Without memories or any context of who the hell they are, these two demigod legends try to fumble their way back to their respective camps (also while figuring out where exactly that is and which one to go first) all the while monsters chase them going “finally revenge is mine!” and these two lovable amnesiacs go “is this one here for you or for me?”

For conflict, let’s sprinkle some misunderstanding that the Roman/Greek camp kidnapped their respective camp leaders and they try to duke it out somewhere in Florida only for Jason and Percy to show up and be like hey do any of you know who we are because we’ve been arguing over it since Utah.

he could be fighting and loose riptide so he just focuses on the sweat to run down his arm into his hand and make a sword

he could focus on the scratch on his finger to make a small dagger in his hand

he could stab someone with like a shank and then focus on their blood to extend the shank or small dagger into becoming a full sword

he could spit into his hand make finger guns and shoot someone

he could explode ppl

he could make blood come out of someone’s eyes ears nose and mouth until they bleed to death

he could just make finger guns point at a person and their head could explode

if he was blind he could pull a toph and focus on the liquid in a person or in the earth

he could heal ppl using their own blood

he could use any body of water to make things-he could be walking downtown and make a skateboard out of water around him etc

if a car was thrown he could make it explode by focusing on the gas

he could uproot entire trees/make them explode as well

he can really make anything explode deadass

he’d be really good in a chase bc he would really do anything

if he was in a car he could drive off a clif and keep driving (if there’s water at the bottom obv) he could also do this if there’s a fountain near by

he could do that fingergun trick but with poison in his hand

he could twist poison arrows/bullets to where ever he wanted

he could make army’s out of water

he would have to learn how to do them and would have to learn about the human anatomy to do some other things but he could definitely be extremely op if he had the chance

if you can think of more feel free to add these are just the ones i could think of off the top of my head

Having Percy go through and survive Tartarus only for Reyna to say “[he] couldn’t find his way out of a paper bag” and having Annabeth agree is really… not fucking okay? Like, imagine going through what is essentially a version of hell, almost dying, the person you love almost dying, and then being told that it’s basically nothing because you didn’t do anything… Like RR does a bad job of actually addressing the trauma Percy has but to have someone say that to his face is gross.

To have Annabeth agree with it when she experienced what he did and knows what he went through is even worse.
