Because I'm currently thinking about how Changing Ghost reacted to White Grim Reaper being killed, do you have any headcanons about the relationship between the two?

Thanks for the ask! It’s been a while since I’ve thought about this scene, but I remember being incredibly intrigued by Wuchang Gui’s reaction to the situation. He takes a massive risk by trying to defend Bai Wuchang and appears to genuinely care about him. Given how his response to Hei Wuchang getting poisoned by Du Pusa was more along the lines of anger rather than distress or concern, it seems like Wuchang Gui carries a sense of favoritism towards Bai Wuchang.

I headcanon both Wuchang Gui and Bai Wuchang as eunuchs, which they may find a degree of solidarity in (though they likely don’t have a shared past, given the age difference).

I do think Bai Wuchang is closer with his brother than Wuchang Gui, but that it’s thanks to both of their protection that he survived as long as he did. Bai Wuchang is likely much weaker than his ranking suggests, and he’s probably terrified of the other ghosts. He looks to Wuchang Gui and his brother for safety, but even they can’t protect him from the Valley Chief.

Poisoning “Healing”

-Lei Wujie calls Lei Yunhe his martial uncle, so I’m guessing that he and Lei Mengsha aren’t directly brothers.

-Yeah, I think deities are just really high-level martial artists. It’s probably more of a social construct, since Jin Xuan and Su Changhe are two of the strongest in the world but choose not to partake in rankings and labels. I can think of more than five deities, so I don’t think there’s a limit.

-Regarding mothers, I’ve noticed this too. It’s like the opposite of the Pokémon world 😹 I know that Xiao Se’s mother died when he was young, while Li Hanyi and Lei Wujie’s, Li Xinyue, died more recently. Consort Xuan, Prince Chi and Wuxin’s mother, is very much alive, though.

-I mean, Mo Yi is definitely obsessed. As for his specific feelings, I agree that guilt and familial love probably play the largest role, as well as denial/not accepting her death. Mo Yi is pretty unsettling though, and it is possible to read him as having other feelings for her. It’s very much open to interpretation.

As a side note, I loved how the donghua handled Mo Yi, especially in developing his relationship with Qi Tianchen, and it’s probably my favorite version of the character. I ended up liking his live-action actor in Love and Redemption, but wasn’t a huge fan of how he was handled in the Blood of Youth, and after reading the novel and watching the donghua, I thought he might have been miscast, but I found a photo of him on Weibo having his makeup done for a different show, and I honestly think he could have been a decent Mo Yi if he had been costumed more accurately to the novel.

Appearance is a fairly notable aspect of this character, namely the contrast between his age and hair with the rest of how he looks, so I don’t know why they would change it (other than the fact that there’s so many other characters with white hair, but that’s one of the fun parts about the world). It definitely affects the vibe of the character.

-is Lei Yunhe the brother of Lei Mengsha? Does that mean he's Lei Wujie and Li Hanyi's uncle?

-What are the deities? How does one become one? Is there only 5 at a time?

-Why are all the moms dead?

-Was Mo Yi in love with his sister? The Donghua shows them really really close on an abnormal level.

I don’t feel like we know all that much about the Lei clan? I know Lei Mengsha leaves to go find glory in the capital (or something - we might learn more about it in the prequel 🤞) so anyway follow your heart

I think ‘deity’ is just a very high level or martial arts, but I’ll be honest they info dumped that very early on in the show when I was too busy trying to work out people’s names and I didn’t actually go back to it. I don’t think there’s a limit to the number technically but I don’t think many people would be able to get that powerful

not to mention how they’re the lifelines for other people who enjoy these ships but didn’t have any fics to consume until these tireless writers spent hours or days or weeks or months or years writing about these characters and their relationships, and just shared the worlds they created with their audiences for free.

or how they singlehandedly introduced the ships to new people who would’ve otherwise never thought about these ships before.

how they could just make people fall in love with the dynamics between characters who have little to no canon screentime together.

Hi did you watch season 1 of Blood of Youths donghua? If so can I ask

- why Baili is on a boat in the first place? In season 2 they often cut to clips of Baili Dongjun on a boat in the middle of the ocean and I wasn't sure why he was going out there.

-Also, is the dog Canon to the series or did they just add that in there for shits and giggles?

-Does the dog belong to Shikong Qianluo? I often saw Shikong saying, "go find your owner"

-Did Lei Wujie encounter Ye Ruoyi in season 1? The reason why I asked this is because they had this whole flashback of them in season 2 when they met in Tianqi that seemed really out of place and in the flashback, he was in clothes that exposed his chest so I assumed it was season 1 design.

Hi! I’ve only seen parts of season one, but I believe I can answer all of your questions (it’s on iQiyi, which I don’t have, but I was able to find some of it for free on YouTube a while back).

-Baili Dongjun is on the boat because he’s going to Mo Yi’s island to drink the soup of forgetting

-the dog is donghua-only, probably for marketing purposes or to appeal to a younger audience. There are numerous characters with animal companions that they didn’t have in the novel or live-action (I still find it hilarious that Mu Chunfeng has a llama in the donghua)

-I’m pretty sure Xiao Se is the owner of the dog, but it has attached itself to Sikong Qianluo

-that flashback is Lei Wujie’s hallucination. He’s imagining doing the stuff he’s done with Xiao Se with Ye Ruoyi 😸

I checked Weibo, and wasn’t terribly lucky in finding an official map. Episode 24 has a big map in the background that may be possible to glean a decent amount of information from:

I’m pretty sure The Blood of Youth takes place in a fictional country based on China, like how Westeros from A Song of Ice and Fire is based on Europe.

Regarding Xiao Se’s title, I’m pretty sure Yong’an Wang means “prince of forever peace.” It’s mostly supposed to sound cool rather than denoting a location. Xiao Chong’s title means White Prince and Xiao Yu’s means Red/Crimson Prince (their father may be showing some favoritism)

So I'm pulling out my hair trying to map out everything in Blood of Youths based off of this blurry map in episode 15(I think) where Xiao Se and Lei Wujie were near Qingcheng Mountain.

Now the only location I can actually place on these lists of various places is Qingcheng mountain because it is a real place and one of the Four Great Daoist Mountains located in Sichuan.

Another thing that throws me off is Xiao Se's prince title which calls him the Prince of Yong'an and I'm not sure if that's just a title or if they're talking about the actual location??? Yong'an city itself, according to what I understand of fictional Chinese wuxia stories, places the city in various locations but mainly from the South Eastern part of China. I believe the real city itself is also in that area as it resides in Fujian province... But I won't like and say I've never seen it placed in the North in a couple games which really confuses me of where its actual location is... so the Yong'an they're speaking of might be placed in the North for this Wuxia, as is Xiao Se's home city, Tianqi city, which is situated in the North according to Lei Wujie in the liveaction.

Also... looking at the blurry map in the liveaction also makes no sense??? I can't read Chinese but the characters don't seem to match what the places are called. I don't know what Xiao Se was looking at but whatever it was, I don't think he was looking at Leijiabao cause none of the characters 雷家堡 showed up on the map once.

Also Mo Yi's island I think might be Hawaii? just because the name sounds similar hahahahah but I can't say for sure where that is.

All in all, I think I'll make a fictional map just to fucking satisfy my mind.
