when I drew this comic 3 years ago I had NO idea how far it would reach. I'm happy to finally share a corrected version with proper abbreviations, and even MORE state names of indigenous origin ♥️
however, the goal of this comic was to inspire people to do your OWN research on indigenous history. To question everything we have been taught, and everything that has been pointedly left out. This erasure, this “forgetting”, of history is not just of the past… it is happening now. - Across so-called Canada, the US, and US-occupied islands, native women are victims of murder at 10-12x the rate of non-native people, and are the most likely to go missing without being searched for by the law. - Native reservations have the highest rates of poverty in the US, with over HALF of tribal homes with no access to clean water (with more joining this list by the year) - Native people are 6-10x more likely to be unhoused than the rest of the population, and native teens suffer suicide rates higher than any other demographic. This list of modern day genocide goes on (thank you for compiling @theindigenousanarchist <3) and yet take a look at those environmental stats!
Native people manage to do SO much for the planet as a whole - thanklessly - and with all this stacked against them. Don't even get me started on kin fighting in south america. Could you imagine if there was help? #landback is resistance to genocide, and it is the key to saving our warming earth.
So look into it and the other hashtags, cuz a cartoon goose ain't a substitute for a proper education. Love to my grandparents who always kept a map of tribal territories of turtle island on their wall, to speaking on our Tsalagi & Saponi heritage. Love & solidarity forever, happy research, and happy #indigenouspeoplesday

(Also, if you care to support the artist, I'm publishing a book ! and writing another - a fantastical afroindigenous graphic novel - that I post exclusively about with tons of other art on my patreon.)
The funniest thing to me is how geologists will come up with the most epic high fantasy names for past times and places, but it's just relating to part of the rock record.
Does anyone else find it odd that Hungary has been forgotten by the media when it comes to that Boris storm ravaging Europe? Like, Poland, Czechia, Austria, and Romania have been all over the news, but not Hungary, even tho Hungary is in the middle between the others

Why would you leave this in the comments?
I can’t stop thinking about that really fucked up map of the US in Transformers

Dhaulagiri mountain, Nepal.
The name comes from Sanskrit where धवल (dhawala) means dazzling, white, beautiful[3] and गिरि (giri) means mountain.

Getting off work so as I walk here's you a Galar region fact. So in the north west there is this valley known as Glaslyn. And it is full of these big hills. In the native tongue they are called various names but they all start with Ynys. For example Ynys Hir, which translates to "Long island". That's a weird name for a hill nowhere near water, it's even weirder because the word Ynys means island. So that brings to question, why? It'd because a mere 200 years ago the entire valley was a gulf, but it was drained to make more farmland, and those were islands.
So yeah neat trivia.

I checked Weibo, and wasn’t terribly lucky in finding an official map. Episode 24 has a big map in the background that may be possible to glean a decent amount of information from:

I’m pretty sure The Blood of Youth takes place in a fictional country based on China, like how Westeros from A Song of Ice and Fire is based on Europe.
Regarding Xiao Se’s title, I’m pretty sure Yong’an Wang means “prince of forever peace.” It’s mostly supposed to sound cool rather than denoting a location. Xiao Chong’s title means White Prince and Xiao Yu’s means Red/Crimson Prince (their father may be showing some favoritism)
So I'm pulling out my hair trying to map out everything in Blood of Youths based off of this blurry map in episode 15(I think) where Xiao Se and Lei Wujie were near Qingcheng Mountain.

Now the only location I can actually place on these lists of various places is Qingcheng mountain because it is a real place and one of the Four Great Daoist Mountains located in Sichuan.
Another thing that throws me off is Xiao Se's prince title which calls him the Prince of Yong'an and I'm not sure if that's just a title or if they're talking about the actual location??? Yong'an city itself, according to what I understand of fictional Chinese wuxia stories, places the city in various locations but mainly from the South Eastern part of China. I believe the real city itself is also in that area as it resides in Fujian province... But I won't like and say I've never seen it placed in the North in a couple games which really confuses me of where its actual location is... so the Yong'an they're speaking of might be placed in the North for this Wuxia, as is Xiao Se's home city, Tianqi city, which is situated in the North according to Lei Wujie in the liveaction.

Also... looking at the blurry map in the liveaction also makes no sense??? I can't read Chinese but the characters don't seem to match what the places are called. I don't know what Xiao Se was looking at but whatever it was, I don't think he was looking at Leijiabao cause none of the characters 雷家堡 showed up on the map once.
Also Mo Yi's island I think might be Hawaii? just because the name sounds similar hahahahah but I can't say for sure where that is.
All in all, I think I'll make a fictional map just to fucking satisfy my mind.
