please im going to start screaming self rb spencer reid not fic criminal minds <- my prev tags people talk a lot about his daddy issues and abandonment issues but i feel like the mommy issues sometimes get neglected because his and diana's relationship is at its core a good one and the issues in it are largely william's fault so the issues born of his relationship with diana are lumped in with the daddy issues if that makes sense but like. the parentification that followed the abandonment fucked him up too and sometimes i feel like thats missed ofc reid is probably the most talked about character in the fandom so this still gets discussed more than the other characters' less discussed issues im rambling now time to hit post nvm sidenote i hate the phrases “daddy issues” and “mommy issues” and i hated typing them <//3

just noticed that gideon pronounces nevada as nev-AD-a in no way out and im choosing to believe he pronounced it as nev-AH-da until he met reid and nearly got murdered by him for pronouncing it WRONG!!!

thinking about this line from gideon's letter:

Outdoors during the day, a woman walks down a residential street. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "but I've realised I can't look at anyone, without seeing their death."

yes, he's speaking broadly here—immediately after we see this woman walking, it cuts to zoomed in images of bodies. that's obvious.

but i think he's also talking about reid, especially because the letter is addressed to him. reid, whose death he literally did see. he means "i cant look at strangers without picturing their death and that's why i cant do this job anymore" but he also means "i cant look at you without picturing you seizing on a filthy floor and thats why i cant work with you anymore"
