Parallels between the owl beast and autism in kids. Letās talk about it.
Ok so we all know that The Owl House has a lot of metaphors for various things. While re watching the episode ākeeping up a-fear-ancesā (where Eda and Lilithās mom shows up) I noticed pretty early in the ep that the doctors were representative of therapists. This really shook me because the scam doctor was truly an embodiment of the crooks who will promise anything to get some money. During the part of the episode where Eda and Lilith are both in owls beast form and their mom is talking to them, something clicked.
the owl beast is a metaphor for autism. Letās talk about that.
Soā¦ you know how autism parents will say things along the lines of āI love my kid but hate the autism!ā? And you know how in a lot of cases they will search high and low for a ācureā and wonāt listen to people saying there isnāt a cure? And you know how people in the autistic community will tell them that saying that they hate their kidās autism is saying that they hate a part of their kid? And you know how Eda and Lilithās mom is about Edaās curse? Yeahā¦.
I think that them becoming one with the owl beast is a metaphor for kids who are finally given the recourses they need to thrive with their autism rather than against it. Eda had the more hyperactive autism. She had constant āmeltdownsā (going into owl beast form) and didnāt see the sense in rules and other social norms (thereās other things I could mention but in the interest of not writing an essay, just lmk in the comments if you would like more proof.) Lilith on the other hand showed clear signs of autism but because she was on the other end of the spectrum and because it was being compared to Eda, it was dismissed as normal behavior. Her mom didnāt give her enough attention and basically made her do everything for herself which is a common thing that happens with autistic children due to our different needs. I also have a headcannon that her sharing the curse with Eda is her coming to terms with the fact that she is also autistic.
So hereās some more correlations I noticed:
When we see the flashbacks of Edaās life with the owl beast, all the times that she lashed out were very overwhelming. (One even being because of a loud and sudden sound).
Even in her day to day life now, the owl beast comes out when she is overwhelmed, tired, stressed, or all of the above.
She tried to hide her symptoms from all her loved ones.
In all the cases where the owl beast ruined a relationship (specifically with Raine), it always seemed to be because she was pushing the person away. (A thing a lot of high masking autistic people do.)
The owl beast is always portrayed as an inner demon. (Even when Eda turns into the owl beast, itās more of a mix of the two of them presenting physically.)
While both Eda and Lilith grew up in the same house and (now) share the same curse, their personalities are in almost every way different. Almost as if theyāre portraying two sides of the same spectrumā¦..
Lilith has a tendency to follow blindly if she feels the rules make sense, but as soon as they donāt make sense or are unjust, she does everything in her power to fight them (a common autistic trait)
Iāve thought heavily on this and thereās even more things that back up my idea so tell me if I should add to this or make a part two! Also, Iām not saying Iām completely correct, I just noticed this and thought itās worth a share.

The owl house theories!
I normally donāt post on here but where else can I share my fan theories? Plus, Iāve spent hours at this point thinking up new possibilities and being so incredibly excited by all of this!!
I noticed something while watching The Owl House that Iād like to see if anyone else noticed.
In the first episode, when luz is fighting the warden with Eda and king, she takes out the fireworks she had earlier in the ep. To defeat the warden dude. (Which proves she was going to take them to normal camp lmao) however, in the firework explosions, there were magic glyphs. (remember this is the FIRST EPISODE). The glyphs werenāt hidden in any way and were pretty outright, similar to the fireworks in the coven parade episode which proved that fireworks that originate from the isles have glyphs in them. This brews a couple theories.
Theories
1.) When items are brought through the portal to the boiling isles, they are automatically flooded with magic and that affects their usage. This raises a couple of questions, one being is it all items or just some, and, if thatās the case, why only some? And does it affect beings that go in and out of the portal? What exactly about the portal does this?
2.) Luz got the fireworks from someone who used to live on the boiling isles and is now living in the earthly realm. If thatās the case, who are they? Why are they selling boiling isles products? If the fireworks didnāt originate from the boiling isles, why are they magic?
3.) Something about Luz owning the fireworks makes them magic. If thatās so, does it affect her other possessions? How long has it been going on? Does she have some other connection to the boiling isles we donāt know about?
Extra
My friend suggested this could be the set up to Luz learning the light spell however in every firework explosion is a new/ different sigil so itās not just the fire/explosion glyph and none of them are light glyph. It could all just be something that the creators put in for fun and decoration but something about it just makes my mind tickā¦.
Thereās always more theories I havenāt thought of yet but even just these three have so many details and inferences we could make if we knew what was cannon. There is always the possibility it was put there for the viewers to make the connection of glyph magic but I think thereās more obvious ways to do that. Plus, I feel like doing something like that isnāt too important to the plot. What difference would it make if we knew about glyph magic before Luz?
I just thought I should share and see what the community has to say! Lmk your theories!!

Mmmmm night time room decor urgesā¦. Oh how I wish to go and buy Halloween decor for my roomā¦.. I may be nonbinary but sometimes all the soul needs is to be a comfy fall girl surrounded by comfy fall girl things šāāļø

Wow thatās really cool!! This is the first time Iāve interacted with someone with that many wings. Iām pretty new to getting wing shifts (especially because I only realized I was Omnikin like two weeks ago) so this is all really interesting to me! Thanks for sharing :3
Ok wow HUGE wing shift rn. They stem from my middle back and look exactly like crowleyās wings from good omens except a bit bigger. I kinda like it tho!!! They make me feel safe and protected. Itās also kinda a reminder of how powerful I am even though Iām still confined to this human body.
Lmk how your phantom shifts affect you! Iāve always been curious as to how others experience it.
