13.) I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
This song legitimately applies to everyone. TVC is just a bunch of angsty, existential vampires who have to keep carrying on, despite all their trauma and heartache, bc they’re immortal.
But, I want to shout out Claudia, specifically, bc that girl HAS BEEN THROUGH SOME SHIT. She endures immortality despite the many misfortunes she’s had to face: losing Charlie, losing her chance to live a normal life, losing her adulthood, always feeling second-best, and of course, being brutally killed bc Armand is jealous and petty. (Still love you Armand… it’s okay, I can fix you - no really, I can).
“Cause I’m a real tough kid, I can handle my shit”

“Lights, camera, bitch smile, even when you wanna die”

“I’m so depressed I act like it’s my birthday everyday”

“I can hold my breath”
“I’ve been doing it since he left”

“I cry a lot but I am so productive, it’s an art”

“Cause I can do it with a broken heart”

14.) The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
This is the only song I actually feel guilty (as sin?) about assigning to someone. I’m going to look at it through the lens of how Lestat may have felt about Nicki after they broke up for good. Lestat turned him, and once Nicki was a vampire, he hated Lestat. And then Nicki’s true feelings came to light - how he resented Lestat’s capacity to endure, how he’d gone to Paris with Lestat in hopes that they both would fail.
I don’t think Lestat would feel this bitter for long, but it’s not crazy to think that he might’ve had a period of sulking after all he went through with Nicki.
“Was any of it true?”
“You gazing at me starry eyed”
“Who the fuck was that guy?”

“And I don't even want you back, I just want to know”
“If rusting my sparkling summer was the goal?”

“I would've died for your sins”
“Instead I just died inside”
“You kicked out the stage lights”
“But you're still performing”

“And I'll forget you but I'll never forgive”
“The smallest man who ever lived”

7.) Fresh Out The Slammer
Feeling imprisoned in your relationship? Caged with a companion? Trapped for eternity with the object of your resentment? Taylor, are you an Anne Rice stan bc this is getting suspicious…
Pretty much all of the TVC characters have probably felt like they were “breaking free” of someone at some point in this series. These bitches be coming and going like nobody’s business.
Let’s focus on Louis leaving Armand to go back to Lestat. For as much as Louis felt confined by Lestat in their relationship, I have to imagine that his relationship with Armand felt tenfold more controlling and wing-clipping, in the grand scheme of things.
“Now, pretty baby, I’m runnin back home to you”

“Frеsh out the slammer, I know who my first call will be to”

“To the house where you still wait up and that porch light gleams”
(I couldn’t find a better quote for this, but: LESTAT WENT BACK TO THE PLACE THEY SHARED IN NEW ORLEANS!!! Waiting up for Louis, mayhaps? Daniel is mentioned in the excerpt bc this snippet is from his POV. It’s taken from QotD when Daniel went looking for Lestat.)

“As I said in my letters, now that I know better, I will never lose my baby again”

8.) Florida!!!
I mean, Armand’s private resort in Miami? I’m not the only one getting Night Island vibes, right?
This song is a metaphor about Florida being an escape, a solace, a drug. That’s exactly how I imagine Armand and the other vampires feel about the Night Island.
“Florida is one hell of a drug”
“You can beat the heat if you beat the charges too”
“No one asks any questions here”

“I need to forget, so take me to Florida”
“Florida, can I use you up?”
“What a crash, what a rush, fuck me up, Florida”

“I've got some regrets, I'll bury them in Florida”
“Tell me I'm despicable, say it's unforgivable, At least the dolls are beautiful”

Exclusive Special Preview of Season 2 Interview with the Vampire - Premieres May 12th on AMC+
Reminder to watch the new IWTV preview on YouTube, not just on tumblr or through gifs. Leave a like and a positive comment while you’re at it! 😉
AMC can’t track how many times we reblog the preview, they’re not checking tumblr to see how many notes a gif set received. They’re using data from their official accounts (like their YouTube channel) to determine the level of interest in this series.
If we want a Season 3, which I think we can all agree we most definitely do, then we need to show up, and show them how many of us LOVE this story!
I am still a Buddie shipper, but that does NOT mean I cannot be a BuckTommy enjoyer.
Y'all should take notes on that.
Just like Buck, you can like both.
"If there’s one thing Interview wants us to understand, it’s that even vampires are caught in cyclical loops. And when you’re immortal, those habits can be just as dangerous... and equally devastating. We got a taste of this with the introduction of the vampire Armand (Assad Zaman), the apparent love of Louis’ life. During the first half of Louis and Daniel’s interview sessions, he was masquerading as human; in reality, he’s 400 years Louis’ senior, and his influence on the latter smacks of Lestat’s own toxicity." "It’s here that the cast gets the meatiest material to sink their teeth into. Anderson remains a high point as Louis, juggling multiple versions of the character across a century and change. Season 2 only expands his role as an unreliable narrator: it’s not that he’s willfully withholding details about his life, but he’s earnestly working to recover memories he’s buried. It’d be enough to watch Anderson work through waves of fury, grief, and denial, with or without the added pressure of bloodlust and immortality." "Part of that has to do with the introduction of the Theatre des Vampires, the campy playhouse in which Claudia spends the bulk of her time. Though the character arguably gets more room to spread her wings in Season 2 (and Hayles takes every opportunity to imbue her with ferocity and compassion), a fulfilling arc still feels just out of reach… at least in the six episodes provided to critics for review."
