does anyone who joined tumblr circa 2012ish remember pocket!aus. there was a pocket!au for like, every single fandom in existence. like it was a super super common fan trope and now I just never see it anywhere

context: pocket!aus are aus where a character is small enough to fit in a pocket, i.e. a tiny. this was a thing outside g/t circles, like obviously I had sizey mutuals into it, but it was very popular with people who weren’t otherwise into g/t. you’d refer to them as pocket!Character vs the term ‘tiny’, and there were plenty of askblogs themed around the concept.

it’s just super super interesting to me that for a brief period gt’ing your faves was a trend to people who didn’t otherwise know who g/t was. i miss it tbh

I think I’ve cracked why g/t resonates so hard for me.

It’s the feeling of being powerless and small, unable to control anything but still having this being larger than life looking at you, caring about your opinions and thoughts. A lot of my stuff has a running theme of being really heavy handed with the idea of the tiny having choice because that’s what makes g/t to me. The concern about what such an insignificant thing feels and the efforts to treat them kindly and with decency despite them literally fitting in the palm of a hand just melts me every time.
