Imagine That You Could Walk Into The White House And Oval Office At Any Time Unannounced To Have An Audience

Imagine that you could walk into the White House and Oval Office at any time unannounced to have an audience with the President, or to the Queen at Buckingham Palace or speak at the podium to the UN!?! Wouldn’t that be ridiculous? In this world yes, but in the court of heaven - NO! ... and today’s scripture verse tells us why.

Our Heavenly Father has an 'Open Door' policy! Just like your children can come up to your lap anytime and say “Daddy!”, we also can come to the feet of the LORD at the throne and talk to Him any time we want. You don’t have to make an appointment, be at a certain 'level of spirituality or holiness', rank, level, or title before God because He is always welcome to you at any day, time, or moment. All you have to do is approach!

Too many believers think that they have to act like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ pounding at the gates to the kingdom in order to have an audience with the Most High, but if you think about it, that is ridiculous for this reason.

The Bible says that the heavenly City of Jerusalem is fifteen hundred miles square and God’s temple is smack-dab in the middle of it, so pounding at the gates (which are already open!) doesn’t make any spiritual sense because those gates are MILES away from the throne. You might as well yell into a barrel!

If you want your prayers to be heard, then go boldly go to God’s Throne, Christian! Then let your prayers and petitions known, asking both in FAITH and according to HIS WILL and He will hear you!

His eye may be on the sparrow, but he watches – and wants to listen – to YOU up close and personal. Boldly go before the throne! He is waiting for you THERE.

Most people would say that the opposite of JUSTICE is Injustice, but that’s not correct. The right answer is MERCY.

From God’s points of view, we are all guilty of not being righteous and are all deserving of judgment (Romans 2:12) and punishment for our sin (Romans 6:23). This is the essence of God’s righteous and JUST JUDGEMENT.

God in His Holiness cannot be with those that are against HIS nature, but our HUMAN nature is the exact opposite! By default we as people want to do what WE want and be self-directed. Sadly what most people cannot see, understand, or accept is that this is the road that always “...leads to destruction” which unfortunately the majority of people will insist on following (Matthew 7:13). Conversely, the opposite of MERCY is JUSTICE and that justice has a consequence.

God is completely justified in executing judgement, but He is much more a God of Love and Forgiveness and graciously extends the freedom that comes with His MERCY to all those that are repentant and are tender hearted towards Him.

So today, which have you chosen to receive?

GOD’s MERCY or GOD’s JUDGEMENT

Long before cell phones, everyone had a telephone at home, and their name, address, and phone number was in a book published by the local phone company called “The White Pages.” So when someone wanted to reach you, you’d just tell them, “I’m In The Book!”

While the White Pages have long faded into history, there is another much more important book in heaven called THE BOOK OF LIFE, and in that book is written the names of all those that will one day be in heaven. As today’s verse says, not everyone’s name is in that book, because all those that are unworthy will not be allowed into heaven. So the question is, who are those that are WORTHY and those UNWORTHY, and which one are you?

God likewise, wants to reach you, and you must be IN THE BOOK and to do so, the Bible says:

“Do those things that will show that You have turned from your sins.” Matthew 3:8

This is what the Bible calls REPENTENCE, that is that you confess and admit that you are a sinner and are asking for God’s forgiveness. For many people this is not easy because they (maybe you?) don’t think you are that bad or that God is that unmerciful that your name isn’t automatically 'in the book' — but that is not what the Bible says! Only those that are found to be worthy are in that book and all those that are not worthy are not.

Friend, God cannot find you if your name is not IN THE BOOK, and there is no reason why your name should not be in it except you choose not to be in it. You can be worthy before God! Simply ask Him from a sincere and pure heart to forgive you of your sins, And He Will.

If there was one underlying principle of God it is this of God it is this - Listen, Heed, and then DO what we have heard when we hear it. That inner voice telling us what we should do is our conscience which comes from the Latin “conscientia” which means “a joint knowledge of something,” where your spirit intersects with God’s spirit. As today’s verse promises, when we heed that voice, it will always reward us, but failure to do so or putting it off will have a consequence.

Years ago I was planning on taking a long distance trip in my car, but noticed that it was leaking a little radiator fluid from the water pump. My inner voice told me to get it fixed before I left, but I delayed and decided to get it repaired at my destination. Well sure enough Delayed Obedience is DISOBEDIENCE and the water pump failed along the way resulting in an even bigger repair and a costly delay.

Friend, when you hear that still small steady voice telling you what you know you should do, do not delay but act TODAY because...

IMMEDIATE Obedience is Always REWARDED, but DELAYED Obedience will always be THWARTED.

Modern science (which we are supposed to always trust and “Follow”) says that there was this “Big Bang,” and over billions of years a hot rock evolved into an orbit around the sun, cooled, formed primordial chemicals in a swamp and somehow, someway (that no one can explain...) 'life' began, and eventually all animals, plants and humans just 'evolved.' The Gospel of Darwin thus teaches that Darwin+Rock=YOU, and not that silly religious superstition you are a creation of God in “His Image” [ Genesis 1:26 ] If you follow and believe that line of thinking, then you believe your life is based upon a ROCK.

However there is another ROCK on which we are built ON and FROM, and that is Christ. As today’s scripture tells us, those lives that are built UPON (not 'evolved from') an inanimate rock will stand long after this third rock from the sun is long gone.

While the earth may be around a lot longer that you will, if your life is based upon the rock, which is Christ, when the storms of this life and the last storm of death beat upon you, then your foundation will eternally stand.

Friend, base your life on the TRUE ROCK which is Christ, because He is the only foundation that will last forever.

Walking down and around Rio de Janeiro as a young man in the Navy was exciting! The beaches, city and weather were absolutely beautiful and it was easy to get distracted at so much to see. Glancing across a wide boulevard I saw the famous “Sugerloaf” mountain jutting up from the yacht harbor ahead and excitedly when the light turned green I hurriedly stepped off the curb to cross the street to get a closer look.

No sooner than I did, the strong hand of my weightlifting Navy buddy snatched me by the collar and violently yanked me back off my feet as a little Fiat going about 60 miles an hour ran the light and clipped the curb - my flailing shoe lightly brushing a side view mirror as the car raced by.

My friend 'Rack' scolded me saying, “They don’t obey traffic lights down here son! When no ones coming they GO!” I certainly would have been killed if my shipmate had not literally had my back.

I didn’t see the danger coming, and likewise in our lives God often delivers us from dangers we never saw coming. As today’s verse tells us, he nestles us under the shadow of His wings until the danger passes by.

The key here friend is to have HIM 'Have Your Back' and the only way is if you stay close to God, because when you are close to Him in THIS life, then He will be close to you in the next life.
