Harry Potter AU?

Slightly silly maybe but I thought it was fun to think about.

Ford is in Slytherin because of ambition, self-centeredness, and pride. He goes on to become an animagus (owl) in order to better study magical creatures without spooking them as a human might, but eventually starts using his owl form as a retreat to make himself feel safe whenever he's upset or stressed (if nobody can recognize him as human, nobody will have any reason to bother him. When he's just an animal, he's beneath notice. When he's an animal, he's safe). After Bill thoroughly traumatizes him, he becomes stuck in animal form. Unable to feel safe enough to turn back for thirty years.

Stan is in Hufflepuff. He's not happy about it, he think everyone else is a goody-two-shoe and it keeps him in a different house from Ford. Eventually comes to realize his undying loyalty and dedication to his family, as well as his never shying away from hard work (when properly motivated) is the reason. He finds Ford stuck in animal form and tries tirelessly to turn him back, even going through the arduous process of becoming an animagus himself just so they can talk to eachother again. Nobody suspects anything because an owl familiar isn't exactly uncommon for a wizard. Even Mabel and Dipper at first assume Ford is just a very spoiled pet.

Mabel and Dipper come from a non magic household (Shermie is a squib) and their parents are unsure how to best help their magic-using children. They send them off to the small wizarding village their great uncle lives in where they can hopefully fit in better.

- Dipper has a beech wand (Fit for a wielder wise beyond their years. Preforms poorly for the narrow minded.)

- Mabel has a dogwood wand (Quirky and mischievous. Prefer wielders who can provide fun and excitement. Tend to pair poorly with non-verbal magic, and are quite noisy.)

- Stanley has a cedar wand (Fits wielders with strong character and fierce loyalty. "You will never fool the cedar carrier". Wielders may appear unassuming, but prove to be terrifying adversaries if their loved ones are threatened.)

- Stanford has a pine wand (Choses independent wielders; intriguing, mysterious, loners. Will adapt to new methods and spells seamlessly. Good for non verbal magic. Always seems to choose long lived wielders.)

Sweater Twins collaboration! 

There’s a couple of stories leading up to this.

Last week, I saw this post:

Well, that looked like a Mabel sweater to me!    And the idea of her making it for Ford charmed me.  As did the idea of him trying to make his hand approximate the four spikes of a thagomizer, thanks to the suggestion of @randomitemdrop​ above (i.e. the spikes on the end of a stegosaurus’s tail.  That’s… that’s what he’s trying to do, I swear. He’s concentrating on holding his fingers in four distinct spikes.  I tried it myself; taking a pic of my own hand is what I used for a photo ref, though obvs I had to insert another finger in the middle.)

Mabel’s sweater, meanwhile… I had saved this pic of an Issey Miyake sweater  (beneath the cut) about four years ago, intending to do a pic of her wearing it, because I thought it looked neat. Having decided to give Ford the stegosaurus sweater, I pulled out this other design at long last for Mabel.  (And yes, her pose was inspired by the Will Smith gesturing meme.)
