This is Craic, I accept no other head canon as I am also shite at the Irish Language

Okay but real talk, if Seamus Finnigan was from the Republic of Ireland, went to a primary school and turned 11 sometime in said primary school between the summer of 4th-5th class or 5th-6th class he still would have missed 6th class altogether, seeing how the British primary school system is different from the Republic of Ireland's one.

What kind of half-baked excuse would he have come up with for leaving school so suddenly? He can't just dissappear, Irish people have a tendency to notice and gossip about that stuff.

But I'll tell you what he did, he told everyone he was going to the Gaeltacht for all of 6th class because he was so bleedin terrible at it.

joanne didn't think that one through huh forgot you can't just make a character irish during the troubles ship them off to a scottish wizarding school where the majority of students are british of some kind and expect them to be happy about it i'd be raging don't even get me started on the lack of an irish ministry of magic
