i haven't read the graphic novel, but if I had to make a guess I'd say the reason Taako didn't lose his beauty is because it would be impossible to show visually without implying certain traits are ugly. Even just washing him out or making him look tried could have the potential to end poorly, so I imagine in the end they just cut their losses and skipped over it

Real quick non-penumbra related post (I know, gaaaaaaaasp, they can do that? Yes, yes I can—)

In addition to audio dramas, I like DND podcasts too — champion of my favorites being The Adventure Zone (balance arc, yeah—) I also play DND, wasn’t able to for a long long time (…never only play at the mall where your ex still lurks/plays folks—) BUT! I’ve been given the wonderful opportunity to play again with some friends from work and it’s going great lol.

But point is — sometimes I can’t help but like imagine, if my campaign with my friends were a podcast like TAZ and people liked it, what moments would stand out/be poked at?

And I have a wonderful answer, delusionally thinking it’d be funny as an animatic: the time I got kidnapped

I’m currently a water genasi, and it’s important to note that I am small. Tiny. They use me for scouting ahead — BUT! We found a hole in the wall, I climbed in, there was cool shit in there so those who could shrank down or changed into something in order to follow me in. Everyone could! …but one — my friend’s dwarf cleric (of fucking Scientology, it is the funniest shit ever—) Nacara. Nacara kinda just stood there and let us go.

Also to note: Nacara likes skulls. She likes to to collect skulls (even when they reanimate and try to kill us, she still wants them—). And while we were in this tunnel, she saw a (moving) skeleton.

I realized about then that I had a spell that could shrink Nacara, and since I was already small I didn’t need it. So I popped out of the hole, looked around and asked what she wanted to be.

She looked around, from me to the Skeleton shuffling away, back and forth. I kept asking what she wanted to be, and Riley (real life name) slooooowly looks to our GM and says “….how strong is Venus (me) again?”

I’m…not very strong —

So then we realized why she was asking— next thing I know I fail a strength check, and she’s decided she’s gonna throw me over her shoulder.

The rest of the party just flat out assumed I that I died —

I was then dragged kicking and screaming through a tomb, we talked to some undead dwarves (if you could call what she did ‘talking’ lol—), and in the end…girl didn’t even get her skull, she just walked my ass back to the hole eventually and I turned her into an armadillo—

So yeah that’s my ramble — I know literally no one asked for it, but my friends are so great and so dramatic (another one of them literally set off a little mini firecracker to accent the fact that he was smiting someone), it’s fun to think of what people would think if that were the case. DND is just so fun, I’m so lucky I get to play again.
