Bad Things Bingo: Please do It's All My Fault
For just a moment, time seems to stand still. Maddie can’t move, can’t breathe, can’t do anything but stare straight at her camera and hope that what she just witnessed wasn’t real, that someone is just playing a very cruel joke on her.
She knows that’s not true. Not when she watched as Chimney collapsed onto the sidewalk below him and a pool of blood started to form too quickly for her liking. She isn’t dumb, she was a nurse before she became a dispatcher and if someone loses that much blood almost instantly...well, the odds are terrible.
And It’s all her fault.
The reason Chimney is currently dying in front of her house right now is because she dragged him into a mess she damn well knew wouldn’t end well, and knowing that felt almost as if she plunged that knife into Chimney herself. Maddie shouldn’t have gotten involved with him, she shouldn’t have run to her brother in the first place and just stuck with her plan on running until she couldn’t run anymore. At least then the people she cared about would still be safe, they wouldn’t have to watch their backs and worry when and if her crazy husband would strike. This mess is of her own creation and she should have dealt with it better. Maybe she shouldn’t have ran out on her husband in the first place. Then her brother and everyone around him would be safe and untainted by the darkness Doug carried with him everywhere he went. Her mother had once told her she made the bed, so now she would have to lie in it.
It’s the hard banging, the door almost caving in on itself, that finally snaps Maddie out of her trance like state. Doug is here, and he’s going to kill her. There are no ifs or buts about it. She had just watched him stab a man to death in the complete open on her camera. There is no question of what he will do to her once he gets inside. It’s with a shaky hand she grabs for her phone sitting on the table behind her and runs upstairs to her bedroom and locks the door behind her.
She needs help, she needs…her hands are already dialing the number before she can stop them and her heart pounds harder with each passing second the person on the other end doesn’t pick up. Finally though, their voice filters through and she feels just a little bad because she’s sure she’s just interrupted their evening and...why the hell hadn’t she just called 911?
@badthingshappenbingo
Okay I would like to blame you @maddieandchimney for officially distracting me from writing what I should be writing, because now I’m writing a child AU for Maddie after reading all of your amazing stories and an idea popping into my head late last night! Someone please turn my brain off!!! 😭❤️
So good! 😭🥰🙏🏼
The minute his phone lights up with a call from his sister, he doesn’t hesitate in picking up. It’s three in the morning, the buzzing sound of his phone had pulled him from his already light sleep, as though his mind and body had been waiting for this moment. “Maddie?” He squeezes his eyes tight shut through sleep filled vision, rubbing his eyes with his other hand when he moves to sit up in his bed.
“I need you.”
Three words. That’s all he needs to hear to practically throw himself out of the bed, “I’m on my way.” She hangs up before he can say anything else, trying not to read too much into the tone of her voice. If there were something wrong with the baby, he wouldn’t be her first call and considering Chimney is still fast asleep on his couch as he heads down the stairs and she hadn’t asked him to wake her boyfriend up, his unborn niece or nephew must be absolutely fine.
Buck sighs, grabbing a face mask from the side, heading out of the door, trying not to let his imagination run wild. Living through a pandemic wasn’t easy; going to work every single day, having to be more careful than ever, thinking about every grocery trip he took, not able to go anywhere other than work and home and repeat. But the hardest thing had been not seeing Maddie. This was meant to be a joyous time, he was meant to be able to fuss over her, to watch her grow, to spoil the baby before he or she was even born. It’s been three months and Maddie is five months pregnant and he’s seen her once and that was before he had even known.
But he knows, as sorry as he feels for himself and what he’s missing out on, Chimney is the one sleeping on his couch and missing every part of the pregnancy he’s meant to be heavily involved in. Buck wasn’t stupid though, he could see from the video calls that it was starting to weigh heavy on his sister’s shoulders, that she was becoming less understanding and more impatient with Chimney, the longer it was.
He feels lonely, at times, despite the fact he lives with someone and he works with the same people he has always worked with. It’s just isolating, perhaps because there’s too much time now to internalise and think about everything, think about what they are missing out on and what they could be doing or what they should be doing at every spare moment. The car ride to Chimney’s apartment - well, Maddie’s too, now, he remembers - is shorter than he had remembered, a journey not travelled in over three months. Everything had changed so quickly - one minute his sister was telling him she was pregnant via a phone call and the next Chimney was knocking on his door saying he couldn’t go home and risk Maddie or their unborn child’s life. Maddie had moved out of her apartment and into Chimney’s with Albert and Chimney was living with him in his apartment and everything had changed.

Day 1 for the Buckley Siblings appreciation week!
Fandom: 9-1-1 Pairing: None - for Buckley Siblings Week Word Count: 1863 Warning: DV implication, past DV mentions Summary: Maddie is crashing at Buck’s (Abby’s) place a few weeks after she gets to LA. An incident with a drunk man mistakenly pounding at the apartment door in the middle of the night causes Maddie a panic attack and she needs her brother, the only person in the city she really knows and trusts.
Written for @thebuckleysiblingsweek.
Day One: “I need you”, “I’m on my way” + hurt.

A few weeks after Maddie had come to LA, she finally felt somewhat comfortable in the apartment she was staying in with Buck. She still found it odd that he was living in the apartment of his absentee girlfriend, but at least it was nice and homey, and in a half-decent neighbourhood. She almost felt safe here, so far away from Doug, so far away from the things that plagued her dreams. Almost.

STOPPP, DID THEY REALLY SAY SOMEONE WAS DYING?!?!? BUT IM NOT READY TO BAWL MY EYES OUT! 😭
Seriously, I hope it’s nothing.
Tim saying in the interview pertaining to Chim about how many times a person can cheat death makes me worried for chim, but also like Tim Chim can cheat death for the rest of his life if you choose to write it like that 🙃🙂 let’s not pretend his life isn’t in your hands sir and that you can make him cheat death every day
Also apparently they said that someone is dying this season and I think it’s Michael with the way they kept talking about his head that episode with David and Bobby snooping and if he is the one who gets hurts in the pile up it would lead to a brain scan out of protocol and them seeing the cancer is back
That interview was pre season four so I’m not too worried!!
Yes! That’s the best theory going at the moment. 😭
