Bad Things Bingo: Please do It's All My Fault

For just a moment, time seems to stand still. Maddie can’t move, can’t breathe, can’t do anything but stare straight at her camera and hope that what she just witnessed wasn’t real, that someone is just playing a very cruel joke on her.

She knows that’s not true. Not when she watched as Chimney collapsed onto the sidewalk below him and a pool of blood started to form too quickly for her liking. She isn’t dumb, she was a nurse before she became a dispatcher and if someone loses that much blood almost instantly...well, the odds are terrible.

And It’s all her fault.

The reason Chimney is currently dying in front of her house right now is because she dragged him into a mess she damn well knew wouldn’t end well, and knowing that felt almost as if she plunged that knife into Chimney herself. Maddie shouldn’t have gotten involved with him, she shouldn’t have run to her brother in the first place and just stuck with her plan on running until she couldn’t run anymore. At least then the people she cared about would still be safe, they wouldn’t have to watch their backs and worry when and if her crazy husband would strike. This mess is of her own creation and she should have dealt with it better. Maybe she shouldn’t have ran out on her husband in the first place. Then her brother and everyone around him would be safe and untainted by the darkness Doug carried with him everywhere he went. Her mother had once told her she made the bed, so now she would have to lie in it.

It’s the hard banging, the door almost caving in on itself, that finally snaps Maddie out of her trance like state. Doug is here, and he’s going to kill her. There are no ifs or buts about it. She had just watched him stab a man to death in the complete open on her camera. There is no question of what he will do to her once he gets inside. It’s with a shaky hand she grabs for her phone sitting on the table behind her and runs upstairs to her bedroom and locks the door behind her.

She needs help, she needs…her hands are already dialing the number before she can stop them and her heart pounds harder with each passing second the person on the other end doesn’t pick up. Finally though, their voice filters through and she feels just a little bad because she’s sure she’s just interrupted their evening and...why the hell hadn’t she just called 911?

Day 3: “I can’t believe you’re getting married.” + fluff  

“Hey,” Maddie said entering the room where her brother was getting dressed. He looked handsome, with a black suit and a crisp white shirt, his blonde hair brushed back. He smiled nervously at her as she came forward to fix his tie. “There. That’s perfect.”

“How do I look?” He asked.

“Oh. You look amazing.” Maddie put a hand over her heart. “I can’t believe you’re getting married. I can’t believe my baby brother is taking such a big step.”

“Yeah, me too. There was a point in my life that I never thought I’d get here. But here I am. I feel like I’ve grown up a lot.”

“You have. I’m so proud of you.” She hesitated, and Buck knew there was more coming. “Marriage is a big step. You are committing to basically spend most of your days with the same person. You are committing to walk through all of life’s challenges together. With the wrong person, marriage can be hell.” They both knew that she was speaking from experience. “With the right person, marriage is bliss.” She had experience there too, as Buck stared down at her wedding ring. He remembered two different days - both of Maddie’s wedding days - and they were both so different.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” 15 year old Buck asked his older sister, who looked gorgeous but scared in her wedding dress. She turned to look at him tears in her eyes.

“They’re not coming, are they?” She asked, her lip trembling. He had no choice but to shake his head. He couldn’t lie to her. He moved forward and took her hand.

“But I’m here for you. Even if I think you deserve better.” Maddie smiled softly.

“Thanks for coming, Evan.” He offered her his arm. “Ready?”

On her wedding to Doug, he had been extremely reluctant and it had been a tense affair, especially since their parents hadn’t shown up. Maddie had walked down the aisle on his arm, with tears in her eyes, and he had reluctantly placed her hand in Doug’s, watching the man clamp his hand possessively over hers and having a bad feeling. On her wedding to Chimney, Buck had been at peace, watching Chimney’s face light up as he spotted his sister walking towards him, looking gorgeous in her white dress, their little girl throwing flowers over them.

“Even with the right person, marriage can be hard,” Maddie admitted. “There are going to be bad days, days where you’re not going to want to see each other’s face, but the good days, oh the good days are going to make it all worth it. The days where you are alone together, enjoying each other’s company. The days where you feel like you are meant for each other. That’s what I feel when I’m with Chimney. And I hope that’s what you will feel with your partner.”

“Thanks, Mads,” Buck said, hugging his sister. “I hope our marriage is like yours and Chimney’s or Bobby and Athena’s. You guys are an example for me.”

“Oh, don’t make me cry, Evan,” Maddie moved her hands next to her eyes. “As the sister of the groom, I need to look good.”

9-1-1: *releases new promo showing maddie going into labor, nia being taken away, and that god awful car pile up*

I think the better question is who wouldn’t be? Now that I’ve heard about this, I’m fully expecting the story!! 🙏🏼❤️

I was actually thinking about writing something similar, expect he ends up being partnered up with Athena who’s mortified because we all know she rides solo, and they have to not only navigate being partners who feels like they can’t even fully vent about one another to their friends because they have the exact same friend group and are worried something might slip, but they also have to deal with actually doing the job, but eventually it will end up leading to Maddie and Buck somehow, and of course Madney.

Thinking of writing an AU where Buck gets a call that Maddie's been hospitalized because of her husband so he rushes back to Hershey to find Maddie finally ready to leave Doug. Buck convinces Maddie to come with him, where to keep her safe, he enlists the help of Sergeant Chimney Han. Who would be up for it?

Okay I would like to blame you @maddieandchimney for officially distracting me from writing what I should be writing, because now I’m writing a child AU for Maddie after reading all of your amazing stories and an idea popping into my head late last night! Someone please turn my brain off!!! 😭❤️
