I absolutely love the eggeater lore, so of course I had to make my own! Phantasos uses the raw elemental energy in eggs to foresee slightly in the future, He attempted to train his child to become the next oracle, like his father did with him. But they did not develop the same abilities upon consuming their first egg, so Phantasos cast them off and began searching for a more worthy student.

Who doesn't enjoy a dramatic father-son tale? The whirlwind of conflicting emoions that poor kid must be going through. Rejection and bitterness, definitely. Shame, from not living up to such valued expectations. Maybe resentment, or indignation for having a father who set such high expectations in the first place? I wonder where the kid is now?

Using dragon eggs as a ritualistic tool for divination is a very, very cool concept that I'd love to keep an eye on ^^

Visually, everything is working together so beautifully in a subtle way. (I had to double take, the first time I saw him!) I truly feel like I'm looking at a character design from a tv show. Amazing submission!

what would happen if one of the egg eaters actually laid eggs? would the clan not eat them because it would be too weird to eat a clanmates eggs or would they have to constantly be watching their own nest?

It would definitely be too weird for them, but in all honesty they wouldn't even consider that egg to be food. The phrase, "You can't eat it if you've named it." comes to mind. Fortunately none of the Egg Gang are interested in egg-laying so this isn't an issue.

Part 2 (Comics)

Research Phase

When creating comics, it’s important to absorb as much material as you can before hand. This will introduce you to a plethora of writing styles, panel-techniques, compositions, and other techniques that others have already figured out. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel! I read up on IDW comics (mainly the newest Sonic, as well as the MLP Comics) which provides a more cartoon-like yet dynamic styles of art. There’s also a plethora of webtoons to read, which in themselves have a more ‘manga/anime’ style when it comes to panels and art styles, but there are many many more kinds of comics to explore. Absorbing this, and seeing how these styles can be played with can give you an edge in comic creation.

Here is a webtoon that I find extremely helpful when learning about intelligent panel design and blending different art-styles.

Writing Phase

On god, just open up word...It’s so much easier to make a comic when you’ve written it down first. I know it’s tempting to just jump into drawing, but it took me years to realize how much time that eats up, and we don’t have that long on this earth. You want a solid idea of your comic(esp. dialogue) before you begin sketching things out. It may take some getting used to, but hey it’s worth it!

Sketching Phase

This is where the fun begins. If you’re using SAI, which is pretty difficult to make panels in, you can simply opt for a single file that is lengthy, resulting in sequential, equally sized images that you can scroll through(like a webtoon). Be sure not to have a bunch of face shots, however, as that can get boring quickly. Focus on playing with angles, and also be sure to always follow the 180 rule! (note: you can make changes during the sketch phase to your script where needed) 

Sketching for Comics

Lineart/color Phase

My comics are always in greyscale, so depending on your art style, you’ll have to reference some tutorials on youtube to get your desired effect. However, I do advise that you ALWAYS keep your panels, line art, and colors on separate layers to avoid any collateral damage. 

Posting to Your Blog!

Be sure to post each comic with a tag that makes them easier to find, and keep them organized. You should also add a link to each comic to your pinned post. The less people have to dig, the more your comics will be seen.

So you've said that Okira is immortal, but he can still be hurt right? How fast can he heal and does he need to eat more eggs than usual to do so? Are there an kinds of injuries he wouldn't be able to recover from?

Excellent question!

Okira's Immortality Explained

I think the easiest way to explain his type of immortality, is to imagine a mix of Deadpool and Southpark's Kenny Mcormick. He can be infinitely harmed, but the wounds always heal. He can technically 'die', but he does not stay dead. This is all due to how his own magic has been warped by his first Egg Eating experience, and the effects naturally have their ups and downs.

Wounds and Deaths

Non-fatal wounds, like a scraped knee, a stab-wound, or a severed limb, will heal completely within the day. Severed limbs will regrow, and wounds will close completely, albeit both will leave shallow scars where the skin and scales were broken.

It's only when Okira suffers a fatal-wound that his body totally regenerates. It doesn't matter how utterly destructive the wound is, either. You can sever his head, burn him to ash, or melt him in acid. He will regenerate back to full health, with no scarring, and with full energy. This often can take between five minutes, to an hour, though the absolute longest regeneration took three days to complete.

Fun fact, this scar-removing effect still occurs as a result from "non-violent" deaths such as illness, drowning, starvation, poisoning, ect. You can pinpoint the moment he dies/reawakens by when his scars and wounds completely disappear.

What it Looks Like

When Okira's body is totally destroyed, the magic that was trapped within him slowly comes back together to form his new body. This looks like little wisps of white smoke that grow denser, and denser, forming a silhouette of Okira's body as the energy works to rebuild it. When it's finished, a wave of energy will flash from nose to tail-tip, and Okira will awaken in his new, completely healed body.

When he dies with his body mostly intact, this energy is only visible as light within his scars and injuries as they close and fade away.

Requirements

None. This power is permanent, and separate from his egg eating addiction, so he's stuck with it.
