Who Does The Prefect Like?
Pairing- Malleus Draconia x Reader
Synopsis - You’ve been acting awfully suspicious lately and Detective Grim with his team of sidekicks is determined to solve the case of what you’re up to.
Genre - fluff, established relationship
Notes- this is for @dulcesiabits writing event. Go check them out, they’re amazing!!

“Grim, I’m going for a walk!” you called behind you as you shrugged as you slipped on your shoes. You giggled when you heard an obnoxious groan from the living room. Grim scampered over to the front door and crossed his arms.
“Again? You always disappear in the evening,” he protested, a disgruntled pout on his face. “Where do you even go?”
“It’s just a walk. I’m not going anywhere,” you chuckled and bent down to ruffle the fur on the cat’s head. “Besides it’s good exercise.”
“You can get exercise when I’m around,” Grim grumbled as he begrudgingly nuzzled his ears into your hand. “What if you come across some creep? Who’s gonna protect you then, huh, henchman?
"I’ll have you know, I’m perfectly capable of fending off creeps,” you rolled your eyes before lighting up in remembrance. You ran to the kitchen and returned with a couple of the cookies you had made that day. Grim raised his eyebrow in suspicion.
“What’s that for?” He barely caught the way your eyes shifted around, avoiding his gaze.
“Just… in case I get hungry on the way back,” you smiled unconvincingly and Grim narrowed his eyes. You shifted under the scrutiny of his gaze before turned to the door. “Well, I’ll be off! Try not to burn the dorm down again.”
“Sevens, Y/N! It was one time,” Grim yelled after you as you closed the door. He sighed in resignation and plopped back down on the couch.
—————
You tiptoed through the door, shutting it as quietly as you could. Your “walk” had gone on much longer than expected and your watch now read 11:56. Grim was likely already asleep.
You crept past the couch towards the stairs. You cringed when a loose board creaked but continued onward. Before you could make it to the stairs, a lamp flicked on.
Grim sat on an armchair with his arms crossed, which would’ve been more intimidating if his legs actually reached over the cushion.
“And where have you been, Cinderella?” he accused, glaring at you. You chuckled nervously and leaned against the back of the couch. “It’s nearly midnight.”
“I just got distracted, that’s all,” you lied, shifting your gaze around the room while your feline friend stared you down. “I was lost in thought and I didn’t realize what time it was.”
“Lost in thought, you say?” Grim narrowed his eyes at you suspiciously. You gulped and felt your neck heat up in embarrassment. After what felt like a lifetime of being stared at, Grim eventually shrugged and hopped off the armchair. “Whatever. I don’t care what you were doing anyway.”
“Good,” you affirmed, a little jarred by Grim’s sudden change in tune. “It’s not of your business what I do in my free time.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ve got it,” Grim dismissed before looking at your hair with narrowed eyes. “What’s that behind your ear?”
You instinctively reached up to feel the purple wildflower that was tucked behind your ear. Your face heated up as you remembered how you’d got it, but you shook your head in dismissal.
“I found some flowers on my walk,” you lied as you made your way to the stairs. Grim hopped off the couch to follow you. “I just thought it’d be nice to keep it around.”
Grim hummed in consideration before rushing up the stairs. You sighed at his sudden burst of energy before brushing the . You smiled to yourself and headed up to your room.
—————
“Hey! Knuckleheads!”
Ace rolled his eyes as he heard Grim yelling at him from behind. Deuce looked up from his textbook, tilting his head in confusion like a lost puppy.
“Helloooo? I need your help,” Grim waved his hand in front of Ace’s face when he didn’t respond. He put his head right next to Ace’s ear and yelled. “Can you hear me?”
Ace swatted the relentless cat and rubbed his ear.
“Queens, what is your problem?” Ace yelled while Grim climbed into the desk and crossed his arms.
“I said,” Grim sarcastically drew out the “a” in “said”. “I need your help.”
“And pray tell, what would you need us knuckleheads for?” Ace quipped, propping his head on his elbow. Grim groaned and put his hands on his hips.
“My henchman has been being sketchy lately and I need your help to find out why.”
“Y/N? Sketchy?” Deuce questioned, sharing the same confused look as Ace. “Are you sure you’re not just being paranoid?”
“I’m serious!” Grim stamped his paw and balled his fists, causing Deuce to raise his hands in surrender. “Every night they leave for an “evening stroll”, they call it, and they don’t get back until late.”
Both boys looked at the cat expectantly becoming more confused and disappointed when he provided no further context.
“And?” Ace stretched out the word condescendingly. “That’s not exactly an unusual activity.”
“Shut up and listen,” Grim held up his paw to silence Ace’s naysaying. “They always leave with something weird like cookies or flowers or a book. Who needs a book on a walk? They never tell me where they were and whenever I ask they get all shifty-eyed and suspicious. And get this! One time they went out wearing a t-shirt, even though I said it was a bad idea,” Grim mumbled the last bit to himself as if he was proving a point. “but then they came back with a jacket! That’s uber sketchy!”
During Grim’s briefing, Ace had perked up and was now staring into the distance with squinty eyes, trying to put the pieces together. When he reached a conclusion, he inhaled suddenly in surprise before laughing to himself.
“What’s so funny, troublemaker?” Grim huffed, upset by Ace’s joking mood.
“They don’t tell you where they’re going, they take flowers and come back with somebody else’s jacket,” Ace smirked, side-eying Deuce and waiting for him to get the hint. When Deuce just stared at him blankly, he sighed. “The perfect prefect has a secret boyfriend.”
“A boyfriend?!” Grim shouted, only to have Ace’s hand slapped over his mouth.
“Keep it down, you little rat,” Ace hissed and took his hand away. “You do know what a secret is, right?”
“Why would they have a boyfriend?” Grim whisper-shouted, pouting at the thought of you having someone more important in your life than him. “And why would they keep it a secret from me?”
“Uh, maybe because you’re gonna be a brat about it?” Ace offered patronizingly.
“I’m not being a brat!” Grim stamped his foot again, like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Ace and Deuce exchanged exasperated looks. “Now are you gonna help me or not?”
“Help you with what?” Deuce asked.
“Staking out their nightly activity, of course!” Grim exclaimed as if it were an obvious notion. “I don’t know what they’re doing with this secret boyfriend of theirs but I don’t like it.”
The Heartslabyul boys deliberated for a moment before Ace spoke up.
“I, for one, would love to know who the object of these midnight rendezvous,” he smiled deviously and looked at Deuce expectantly.
“Yeah, if the prefect is dating someone, I think we should be the first to know,” Deuce agreed.
Grim grinned proudly and hopped down from the table.
“This is a fantastic idea.”
—————
“Grim! I’m leaving!” you called, looking behind you expectantly as Grim stared at you from the couch, almost suspiciously eager. “I’ll be sure to be back before midnight this time.”
“Okay, bye, see you,” Grim blurted out too quickly. You eyed him in confusion but shrugged it off and set off for your walk, closing the door behind you.
You walked along the dirt path to the gates, a little skip in your step as you swung your arms. The wind cut through your sweater but you didn’t care. You held on to the iron bars of the Ramshackle gate and spun your body around onto the main path.
You checked the path to make sure no one was there and made your way into the forest. The streetlamps gave a little bit of residual light but it faded away pretty quickly. You were about to get out your phone’s flashlight to see in the pitch black, but a glowing green light appeared a few feet in front of you. You giggled, knowing your boyfriend was behind this, and reached out to touch it, but it darted away from your hand.
After following the light for a while, you reached a clearing in the trees. The light shattered into tiny green sparks, hovering in the air like fireflies and lighting the clearing. Amidst the sparks, a tall figure began to take shape. You reached out your hand with a smile as Malleus took shape in front of you.
He smiled softly and took your hand, pulling you close and brushing your cheek with his thumb. You let out an amused hum when he gently kissed the corner of your lip. He pulled away to gaze into your eyes before fully kissing you. You smiled into the kiss and wrapped your arms around his neck. You pulled away and rested your head on his shoulder.
“I missed you,” you whispered, rocking slightly on the balls of your feet. Malleus chuckled lowly and kissed the top of your head.
“But we saw each other just earlier today, dearest,” he said languidly. You groaned light-heartedly and looked him in the eye.
“That was in class. Class is different,” you lamented, despising that you had to keep your relationship a secret. “I can’t hug you, kiss you, hold your hand. Aurora’s sake, I can’t even sit next to you! I’m supposed to be scared of you, you know.”
“Scared? Pray tell,” Malleus looked quite amused, which you looked at him pointedly for.
“That’s right. You’re supposed to be big, bad, scary Malleus Draconia the Great and I’m supposed to be a quivering plebeian.”
Malleus laughed at your impression and you caught sight of the cute little fangs that had caught your attention the first time you met.
“Tell me, dearest. Am I really so big and bad and scary?”
You hummed in consideration, stroking your chin jokingly.
“Let’s see. Big, definitely. Bad, 100 percent. But scary?” you deliberated as a smile crept on your face, breaking your character. You reached up and twirled a strand of his hair with your finger, trying to keep from melting when he took your hand in his hand pressed it to his cheek. “Couldn’t be further from the truth.”
“Is that so?” Malleus chuckled and pressed a kiss into the palm of your hand. You stared into his eyes with a playful look before a light bulb seemed to pop up above his head. You were a little disappointed when he pulled away from your embrace but you quickly became more curious when he snapped his fingers and some of the sparks converged to form a box.
Malleus looked at you expectantly, looking quite proud of himself. You couldn’t help from laugh, whether it was from the item he just summoned or the prospect of the feared fae prince awaiting praise like a puppy.
“Is that… a boombox?”
Malleus nodded enthusiastically, making you laugh.
“Lilia said that this is a modern form of listening to music and that it plays all by itself, with no musicians.”
You laughed even harder, stunned by how oblivious Malleus was to modern technology.
“I suppose that, to you, it would seem modern, though it’s a bit dated in the current year,” you chuckled and smiled in thanks for his effort.
“I figured, why not have the best of both our worlds?” Malleus said as he leaned down and pressed play. A slow violin melody began to play and you swayed to the music. “It’s a waltz from Briar Valley. It used to be quite popular on the islands, but I’m afraid the novelty has been lost to time.”
“It’s beautiful,” you mused, mesmerized by the softly lilting tune. Malleus extended his hand toward you and you set your hand in his. He pulled you to the middle of the clearing and began to lead you in a waltz.
You got confused with some of the steps and stepped on his toes a few too many times but he just laughed and continued dancing. He spun you around, your clothes ruffling with the wind. You laughed when he pulled you back in, holding you for a moment too long. You pressed your forehead against his and sighed in contentment.
“I love you,” you whispered and cupped his cheek with your hand. His eyes fluttered closed as you locked your lips with his. He pulled away long enough for you to see the intensity in his eyes. It wasn’t hungry or dangerous, but full of love and devotion that you knew was dedicated only for you.
“And I love you, my dearest. More than you can ever know.”
As he leaned in again, you suddenly heard a racket from the distance. Both you and Malleus straightened in confusion and began to look around the clearing. You were finally able to pick out the squabbling of three very familiar voices. You sighed, more than annoyed, and stalked over to the tree the voices were coming from.
You grabbed Ace and Deuce by the ear and hauled them out into the clearing, their pained protests falling on deaf ears.
“Care to explain what you’re doing?” you said calmly. Both boys swore under their breath. When you were pissed, you yelled at them. You were only calm when you were really furious.
“I would like to preface any statement by saying it was Grim’s idea,” Ace held up his hands in surrender but you quickly shot him down with a glare.
Grim emerged from the bush and sneered at Ace.
“It wasn’t my fault! They were the ones who went through with the plan!”
“The plan?” you interrogated, your expression growing darker by the minute. All three of them gulped in fear.
“I mean, it wasn’t really a plan, per se,” Deuce attempted to explain but became too nervous of your death stare. Overlapping voices tried to reason with you but you silenced them by putting your hand up. You took a deep breath and turned to Ace and Deuce.
“I am very disappointed in you boys. I’ve come to expect your usual shenanigans but spying on me is not okay. I value my privacy very much and what I do with my free time is none of your business. You will apologize to me and you will mean it or I will be having words with Riddle. Is that clear?”
“Yes, sir,” Deuce nodded, though it was unclear if he was enthusiastic or just petrified. Ace elbowed him and looked at the ground.
“We’re very sorry, Y/N. We should’ve respected your personal life and not tried to pry,” Ace recited shamefully. It made you wonder if he had a speech prepared for when he got caught.
“I promise it won’t happen again,” Deuce muttered, doing everything he could to avoid your gaze. You nodded in satisfaction and waved your had to dismiss them. Grim attempted to slip away with them but you yanked him back by the collar.
“Don’t think you’re off the hook, little mister,” you sneered at Grim as he pouted, resigning to being held by the scruff of his neck like the kitten he was. “No tuna for a month.”
The screech was enough to make you drop the furry creature. He gaped at you in disbelief and stuttered through an argument. You glared at him and all his words left him.
“One. Month.”
Grim attempted to hold your stern look but he quickly gave up in the staring contest. He sauntered back to the dorm with his head hung low.
You sighed in relief that they were finally gone. You turned around to find Malleus watching you with eyes full of affection.
“What?” you laughed, partially exasperated by the first years antics and partially amused by Malleus’ affectionate staring.
“I am the luckiest person in the whole world,” he breathed, barely even thinking about his words. You averted you eyes in uncharacteristic bashfulness as he stepped closer. “I’m serious. That may have been the most attractive thing I have seen anyone do in a thousand years,” he sighed in contentment and tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear. “How in the stars did I manage to make you mine? The big, bad, scary fae for the beautiful, strong, amazing human.”
You smiled and close your eyes instinctually as held your face.
“Sounds like a perfect match to me,” you whispered and rested your head in the crook of his neck. You stood there in serene silence before your eyes snapped open.
“Fates, they’re gonna tell everyone.”
Malleus winced as he remembered that crucial detail. You laughed at the hilarity of the whole situation.
“Sebek is going to flip his lid,” you joked. You couldn’t stop laughing because you knew it was true. Malleus joined you in laughing, not being able to stop the first years from blabbing to the whole school. He exclaimed mockingly.
“We’re doomed!”
Zang.

Who Does The Prefect Like? (Female Reader)
It was like any other day at Night Raven College. The birds were chirping, the gargoyles were glistening with the water they spouted from the previous night's rain, and mayhem was afoot. Today's form of trouble came in the shape of two cats. Leona was currently chasing Grim around the halls of the school, much to the surprise of the other students. It is historically more likely to find Leona lazing off somewhere trying to avoid his classes, but on this rare occasion, he was exerting enough energy to dead sprint after a certain resident of the Ramshackle dorm. This was, of course, noticed by the squad of first years that had become friends with the prefect, (Y/N). Leona almost bowled over Ace and Deuce in his haste with a fierce growl to move or they'd be fresh meat.
Turning to the others, Jack raised a single eyebrow, "I wonder what that's about?"
"I have no idea," stated Epel, his huge boyish eyes tracing the scene in shock, "What do you think (Y/N)? (Y/N)?!"
Looking around, there was no sight of the prefect who, just a moment prior, was with the group. Shaking his, Ace shrugged his shoulders and heaved a heavy sigh, "Where has she gone to?"
"She has been disappearing a lot lately. Skipping lunch plans we made, always texting someone, even disappearing over the weekends for extended periods... Do you think she has a boyfriend?" questions Deuce, gathering his scattered paperwork.
Looking up from his apple carving, Epel blanches in disgust at the thought that just entered his head, "As long as it isn't Vil, I don't care who she's seeing."
"I swear," starts Ace, "if it's Riddle I will puke up everything in my stomach and then some."
Jack seemingly nods along with the conversation but his eyes show him to be in his own thoughts, "She does attend all of the unbirthday parties; however, she is strangely close to Jade Leech isn't she? I'll admit, that's one person that makes me wonder if her taste in relationships is... safe to say the least."
"Well, I think we should ask Sebek when we see him. After all, he's always attached to Malleus's side, except for supper. I'm sure we could find him during supper in the cafeteria and ask him what he knows. Maybe even Grim knows and will tell us. After all, he does live with her," states Ace as the group of friends continue their walk down the long hallway.
Little to their knowledge, the clubroom door behind them was not locked. Normally it was school policy to lock the clubroom doors when the clubs are over, but this club never locked their door. A handy thing to know when you're in a pinch. Posters and other book-inspired illustrations adorned the literature clubroom's walls. Desks placed in a circle sat in the middle of the club room, while the pulled blinds kept the room dark and cool. An ideal location for any nerdy meetup or secret meetings.
"I think they're gone." whispers (Y/N), her voice piercing the tense silence that had filled the room.
Pulling her close, the man who abruptly and secretly yanked her into the room pulled her to him, "Yes, I suppose so. They are surprisingly unobservant."
"Vil... can you blame them?" she softly chuckles, worry and a twinge of guilt lacing her angelic voice. "I mean, Grim and Leona did almost bowl them over a couple of minutes ago."
Kissing her forehead, Vil gently smoothes (Y/N)'s hair while holding her in his arms, "Well, in the end, it helped us. I'm sure we'll be able to get out of the school what with the end of the day and clubs letting out it will be chaotic, but why don't I text Rook and have him meet up with us in the Pomefiore courtyard, hmmm?"
"While I don't put it past Rook to cause a big distraction," begins (Y/N) with a chuckle, "I'm pretty sure Leona and Grim have that handled all on their own for the majority. How about we see when we get there."
"Mmmmm... I'd believe so. Alright, my love, we'll plan as we go, and when we get there I'll order some food from my room for us to share. How does that sound to you?" whispers Vil, his mouth dangerously close to (Y/N)'s ear.
Cupping Vil's perfect face, (Y/N) lets out a dreamy sigh, "Sounds perfect my love."
With a soft smile, Vil gently detaches from (Y/N) AND carefully pokes his head out the door. Once sure the coast is clear, he motions to (Y/N) quickly. Sprinting through the halls, the pair of lovers quickly make it out of the school and to the entrance of Pomefiore. They weren't so lucky as to avoid the evening throng of students coming in after their clubs. As predicted, Vil was right and Rook was exactly who they needed at this precise moment. Hiding, behind an apple tree in the open-air courtyard, and while letting out some tired laughs, the pair quickly dial Rook.
"Ah! I had a feeling when you both disappeared you'd show up here. It seems my intuition was correct yet again." comes Rook's excited voice through the phone.
While (Y/N) got a good laugh out of Rook's normal antics, Vil quickly explained the situation to the vice-housewarden. After a couple of seconds, Rook's voice comes back through the phone's speaker, "So you want me to stir up the little students Roi de Poison? Sounds like a challenge. Give me five minutes!"
As Rook said, five minutes was all it took for the dorm to be in a tizzy over some useless matter and for Vil and (Y/N) to sneak right past the Pomefiore student body, Epel included. Quietly slipping into Vil's room, the couple flops down onto the plush bed to cuddle each other. Pulling out his phone, Vil orders the normal meal for the two of you while you scour the internet for an interesting movie.
"(Y/N) dear?" whispers Vil, gently pulling you away from the screen and down onto the bed with him. You quickly snuggle into his awaiting side while he plays with your beautiful locks of hair. "We've been dating for a while now, and I was wondering if... maybe, you would, uhm, consider going on an official date with me?"
"Vil, I thought you wanted to keep this quiet to shield me from fan hate. The whole reason we're hiding in the first place is that you wanted to." whispers (Y/N), nervously into Vil's side. "I don't know if I can handle it yet, and I don't want to make you feel like you have to go public,"
Grabbing his phone, Vil opens it to a certain site while continuing to massage down (Y/N)'s arms. "I was thinking about that. We could go public and if needed I would hire you a personal security agent. You wouldn't even know they're there, and I can get you a specially made phone. This site has enough information that I could find whoever I need. I'll look through and block all of the hate mail before you even look at it. I promise I'll protect you my darling. Regardless of the outcome, we'll handle it together side by side. As for me, I'm ready. I don't want this to make you feel like I'm keeping you tucked away like some secret. I just wanted time for the two of us before we got hounded by the fans and paparazzi."
"Alright, Vil... if that's how you feel, then I suppose I should roll with it and love you no matter the situation, after all, I love you Vil Schoenheit," whispers (Y/N), tiredly as her hunger starts to invade her body and mind.
Gently running his finger over his cheek, Vil places a soft kiss on your forehead, "And I love you more, (Y/N) (L/N)."
Suddenly the door banged open, "I don't know why you ordered in food Vil, but I don't really care, just be grateful I brought it to you warm instead of letting it get... (Y/N)?!"
"H-Hey E-E-Epel..." stutters out (Y/N) nervously, afraid of the younger student's reaction to the situation.
Swiftly, Vil is gracefully and meticulously in front of Epel, "Epel, thank you for running up the food but please remember that a gentle knock is always appreciated. I do believe this is our personal space and I'm spending some quiet time with my girlfriend, so I'd kindly appreciate it if you could give us some space now. Thank you very much."
Brighter than a red apple at harvest, Epel swiftly runs out of the room and disappears from our line of sight. Probably running to the nearest toilet available to puke up that ruby red apple he was eating earlier. With a sigh, Vil gently closes the door, and this time he turns the lock. Turning around, he walks back over and climbs back into the bed starting to take the food out of their to-go bags.
"I'm sorry my dear," he whispers out eventually, "I should have taken better precautions and remembered to lock the door."
Chuckling, (Y/N) wraps her arms around Vil's waist after resurfacing from the throng of blankets that she had dived under, "Well, I suppose the cat's out of the bag now. It's okay my love. It was bound to happen eventually be it us going public or someone catching us. I suspect Rook kept it a secret for the mere fact that he could make bursts of organized chaos on the occasion."
"Maybe so," laughs out Vil, "so how is that phone sounding now?"
"Uhm... well, maybe a little better than not," chuckles out (Y/N) nervously.
Setting her food in front of her, Vil gently holds (Y/N)'s hand, "I'll get started on it first thing in the morning then."
"Alright, thanks Vil," whispers (Y/N) before kissing Vil quickly and diving in on the food.
In another part of Pomefiore, a very different night was unfolding during Vil and (Y/N)'s date...
"What happened again?" asks Ace, his and Deuce's faces crammed onto one phone's video call.
Frustratedly, Epel slams down onto his dorm bed with his phone in his hand. After taking the food to Vil's room and subsequently puking up his supper, he rushed to dial their immediate circle of first-year friends; however, the situation quickly escalated after that. Upon seeing the odd behavior of their younger classmates and dormmates, the upperclassmen ended up joining the hectic video chat. Leona, getting thorough entertainment out of this matter, ended up calling Floyd, who subsequently dragged Azul and Jade into the mix. Floyd, then after hearing the story, called Jamil; hence Jamil and Kalim's involvement. Adding to the already growing fire, Kalim decided that they shouldn't just disclude Idia, and so both Idia and Ortho are now involved; bringing the entirety of the friend groups into this crowded and very loud video call.
"Just quiet down and listen!" exclaims Epel frustratedly, "Vil ordered take-out and I happened to be the one to grab it, so I figured I might as well just take it to his room. On my way up there I walked by Rook, who at the time laughed and gave me a wink. I thought it was odd, but then again it was Rook and he has some really weird moments. Vil normally works on his potionology experiments after school on Thursday especially and makes a point of telling us to leave him be. Despite that, he had ordered food, and I figured I better get it to him warm instead of cold and one thing led to another. I ended up in the room and (Y/N) was there and they were snuggling in bed scrolling through movie selections. He just got up and told me that he appreciated me bringing the food but to knock first and to please leave him and his girlfriend alone so that they could enjoy their personal space. Taking the opportunity, I sprinted out of the room and to the nearest toilet. Then I video called the first-year group which ended up having the entire group of everybody in here listening.
Silence came across the phone until finally, Leona decided to break the silence, "Well, the herbivore has a boyfriend so give up boys. Abort mission because the star has shot, went overhead, and is gone so save your pathetic hearts the heartbreak. I, however, am going to go take a nap. Thanks for the entertainment though, I'm sure there'll be more to come."
Oh and was Leona right, because sure enough, the video call blew up after that. Somehow at some point, someone dragged Rook into the call; which only made the call explode even more. In the end, the friends found out who (Y/N) was dating, and the happy couple woke up to many many text messages in the morning. All was good... well it's NRC so there's plenty of mischief yet to come!
At this point anyone who sres my rbs know that I'm a huge sucker for floof(fluff) and cyute(cute) stuff
