Day 5 June of Doom: It's not as bad as it looks (bite) (tw blood and violence)

Lilith had never liked that brat of a Golden Guard. Always got "special treatment" from Belos, despite hardly struggling a day in his life as far as she could tell. Titan how she wished she could just bash his stupid mask in. Alas, Belos never hesitated to put the two together on missions.

She made the assumption the Golden Guard was at least an adult, which only made her blood boil more every time she was forced to listen to his obnoxious voice and put up with his petty attitude. She couldn't help but scoff as he ordered a guard to leave him alone, despite the poor coven scout only trying to help the Golden Guard fix his cloak that had twisted up a bit and got caught on a door handle.

The mission was simple. Go hunt down a stonesleeper spotted near Forearm Forest. Why? No one really knew, but they were trained to follow orders not question them. So on the airship they went, Lilith and the Golden Guard joined by a small patrol of coven scouts. Thank Titan Hunter stayed on the opposite side of the airship the entire time, seemingly looking over the edge at the ground below.

Lilith couldn't help but chuckle as they thudded to a stop and the Golden Guard almost toppled forward right off the ship. She watched as he threatened to blast the head off a guard nearby who had snickered, before storming off the ship. "Come on, let's get this over with." He grumbled. His annoyance felt nice to Lilith.

The patrol trecked through the outskirts of Forearm Forest, the ground marshy and muddy from a recent bought of acid rain in the area. Lilith simply allowed the Golden Guard to lead. As much as it annoyed her, this was his mission, and she was simply tagging along to help if need be. The Golden Guard ubruptly held his hand out to stop the group in their tracks.

"It's through this underbrush. Attack on three, and aim for the belly." The Golden Guard instructed firmly, before counting down on his fingers. One. Two. Three.

The group lunged out from the underbrush, the stonesleeper immediately awoken and alert. Before they could do anything the stonesleeper charged, some coven scouts hardly moving in time from being trampled. The witches started their attack, launching various spells at the stonesleeper's tough scales to not much avail.

The beast suddenly let out a horrific screech when the Golden Guard stabbed a spike of ice through its leg, dragging it out so the demon bled deep red crimson. Then it charged, and the Golden Guard couldn't move in time. It dug its massive maw into his leg, dragging the boy into the air.

Lilith didn't know why, but sparks of panic started to jump around her chest as she watched. The stonesleeper threw him around, shaking him in the air. Lilith could see red coating the stonesleeper's beak-like mouth, it's sharp teeth dug into his leg.

The coven scouts started pressing attacks left and right, trying to free to Golden Guard who was trying to escape from the grasp and successfully kicking the beast in the eye. Lilith took a breathe, twirling her staff in a circle to summon a large ice spike to pierce the beast through the heart.

She watched as it shrieked, dropping the Golden Guard to the floor before it toppled over, dead. The coven scouts cheered, but Lilith couldn't help the uneasiness clawing at her mind. Why was she do concerned? The coven scouts immediately got to dragging the dead stonesleeper to the airship, but Lilith stayed put.

She than walked towards the golden guard. His mask had clattered off and shattered from being dropped, it laying a distance away from him. With his face revealed Lilith had to suppress a gasp. This was... a kid. This wasn't some petty adult, This was literally a /child/.

The Golden Guard forced himself into a sitting position, his cloak and outfit covered in mud and blood. There was a hole in his pants where the beast had torn through the cloth and dug its mouth into his leg, where it was bleeding profusely. Oh Titan this was a child!

Lilith knelt down next to him. "Golden Guard... do you, need assistance?" She tried to keep her formal usual slightly annoyed tone but it was far harder when guilt filled her heart and concern flooded her mind. Hunter winced a bit, before looking up at her. "I'm fine... it's not as bad as it looks..." he muttered, shoving himself up to stand and keeping all weight off that leg.

The motherly urge to help him stand almost prompted her to help support him, but with the annoyed look that was returned to the boy's face she decided against that. "Very well. Let's get going." She said with false coldness, turning around.

His voice suprised her when he spoke again. "...thank you. For, saving me back there." He muttered, following after her. Titan why did he look so young? Why was Belos putting a child in such high power? Was she just imagining the eyebags under those bright magenta eyes?

"...it was my duty. It means nothing" she responded, before walking swiftly ahead away from him and onto the ship. The Golden Guard's ears folded back a bit, but he just sighed and nodded curtly, before following with a heavy limp.
