minecraft body language related things

- anything related to crouching. slowly going up to someone while crouching to be sneaky. spam crouching in “friend?? friend!!” crouching and looking down because you’re sad :(

- punching up in the air enthusiastically like “hey let’s go!!” punching the blocks underneath you rapidly as if moving your hands around in conversation. affectionately punching other players like you would pull someone’s ear.

- i dunno if this is just my group but full netherite players criting each other with axes and swords because it barely does any damage and it’s fun

- aggressive spinning to goof off

- almost-but-not eating something to make obnoxious noises

- that thing streamers/youtubers do when you can tell they’re staring at themselves in f5 to talk to an audience

- also, when you can TELL someone has paused to look at you in optifine zoom

- forcing yourself into swim/fly mode on land for maximum silly mode.

- waiting for someone to find where you are so you’re like. in a body of water going straight up and down with a riptide trident until they do. or just flying up and down with elytra

- getting in a boat on land and spinning in circles like “hey I’m bored let’s go”

- slowly swapping out tools either as a threat, or to dramatically reveal what item you have

- putting armor on as a threat, or taking it off as a “I’m relaxed” thing

- playing hot potato with a junk item neither player wants and chasing each other around with it

- i just think running around with a loaded crossbow out is really funny. you look like an oblivion npc

- loading up a trident throw but Not letting it go and holding it back as a threat

- rapidly flicking levers/opening chests/pressing buttons/etc to annoy the other person, especially while they’re talking

- closing a door in someone’s face

- playing a block in front of someone. they break it. you place it again. this continues for two more minutes

- jumping down at someone from a higher place like “HI I’M HERE NOW!”

- sitting in cauldrons. become soup.

- music disc dancing. moving around as much as possible for pigstep and slow crouching to cat

- being offended/sad etc and digging down a few blocks to sulk

- anything along the lines of a player taking time to make something for a joke. someone says “let’s talk” and the other busts out a crafting table and crafts a stair so they can pretend to sit

On the one hand I'm like "clearly the Dream SMP fandom needs a crash course in class analysis" and then on the other hand I'm like "I'm really not in the mood to write that post right now"...

But okay,

working class = someone who earns their wealth (however small OR big) mainly by their own labour

owning class = someone who earns their wealth (however big OR small) mainly by other people's labour (also known as "capitalist class")

personal property = your stuff which you personally use, including your house if you have one, your car if you have one, your toothbrush, your computer, your phone, your tools, your jewellery, whatever, it's YOUR stuff and the leftist are not coming for it

private property = stuff you own specifically in order to make money, but that you don't use yourself, instead you either pay other people to use it to make/provide goods and/or services and you take the profit from their work, for example factories, shops, or other kinds of businesses, OR you charge other people for using it, for example housing. This is the stuff that leftist ARE coming for.

Also yes I'm aware that the personal/private terminology is stupid, I didn't come up with it.

And yes, this does in fact mean that there are rich people who count as working class, (such as star actors or athletes, often popular musicians, maybe doctors or lawyers, some coders possibly... and some Minecraft youtubers lol) and there are (relatively) poor people who count as owning class (such as landlords who just happen to own and rent out a second apartment or even just an extra room, or struggling small business owners, etc.)

The definition is about whether you work to earn your money or whether you own things to "earn" your money, and it matters because the latter is exploitative, the former is not.

capitalism = an economic and political system based on the exploitation of working class labour by the private owning class in order to create profit.

trade = exchange of something for another thing between two parties. Trade and markets are both features of capitalism but they are NOT themselves inherently capitalist and have existed under different economic systems throughout history.

Important note: you CAN have an anarchist society with markets and trade but you CAN'T have an anarchist society with capitalism because capitalism is inherently hierarchical. Not all anarchists are opposed to business, but ALL anarchists are opposed to exploitation, which is why "anarcho-capitalism" is an oxymoron.

Also, capitalism is not a natural system in Minecraft, you have to actively enforce it if you want to have a capitalist society ingame, because it's really hard to exploit people who can just run off to get their own resources from an infinite world any time they want.

Wilbur tried to do this through trickery, by convincing people to give up their brewing stands to create artificial scarcity, it didn't really work. Sam and Quackity are apparently trying to do it through debt? And claiming people's attachments? Maybe idk, I've missed so many streams. Point is, you don't just have capitalism in Minecraft, you have to pursue it.

Anyway, this is why there's nothing inherently non-anarchist or right-wing about the Syndicate members being rich. None of them got their wealth through exploitation, they were all either gifted it (in Niki's case) or they worked for it. None of this is what anarchists oppose, actually. It IS pretty damn unusual for rich people to be anarchists, because it's pretty hard to get rich while adhering to anarchist values in real life (because we're not living in Minecraft) but it's not inherently hypocritical.

Also fixating on personal wealth over systemic problems is a distraction and actively harmful for the cause.

(disclaimer: I'm really not a theory guy, I don't have formal education on this stuff and I haven't done much reading either, this is just very basic shit that I've picked up through leftist osmosis and like podcasts and youtube videos)

TL;DR: just read the definitions of "working class" and "owning class" towards the beginning of the post, that was my main point anyway.

God I can’t describe how much I appreciate the fact that Wilbur Soot is the sort of person who can respect when other people enjoy things and doesn’t use popular fandoms/hobbies that are typically considered “cringey” as the butt of his jokes

Like no offense to the man but at first he sort of comes across someone who would make jokes about people who like Homestuck, or like, musicals or something, and then he’s just…genuinely so respectful of other people’s interests, like do  you know how tiring it is seeing people use a person being an Undertale fan or smth as some kind of “gotcha” like. Idk he just. He likes Hamilton, he does political roleplays in Minecraft with his friends and gets far more into them than he should have to, he calls a 17-year-old his best friend with no hint of irony or sarcasm, he’s just…the complete antithesis to cringe culture I respect him so much.

Wilbur gets so much shit but he is so cool, genuinely he’s an amazing example of actively choosing to be a good person. He deserves fucking everything

The thing about the default setting of Dungeons & Dragons is that evil is self-defeating not in a metaphysical sense, but in the sense of each individual force of evil being comprised principally of people who suck.

Mind flayers are so invincibly convinced of their own cleverness that their collective history is just an endless litany of them suffering completely predictable ass-kickings at the hands of their own creations, to the point that they’ve lost their empire and been forced to live in caves and still can’t figure out what they’re doing wrong.

Beholders assume that everybody everywhere is just as treacherous and scheming as they are, and consequently spend most of their time quivering in fortified bunkers freaking out about elves on the moon and completely failing to notice the adventurers on their doorstep.

Chromatic dragons are individually unstoppable, but are incapable of even the most basic coordinated effort because two chromatic dragons in the same geographic region will spend all of their time and energy fighting over which one of them should be in charge.

The collective infernal armies of the Abyss and the Nine Hells could conquer the multiverse basically any time they felt like it, but they never will, because they’ve spent the last billion years slaughtering each other in what amounts to a massive ideological slapfight about the correct way to be evil.

And the funny part is that there’s no overarching authorial agenda that got us here. It’s a bunch of different writers in a bunch of different versions of the game published over many decades independently arriving at the conclusions that a. it’s beneficial for the game if the players can have stupid arguments with the monsters, and b. those arguments will be more entertaining to play out if the monsters are a bunch of dork-ass losers.

People who try to tell me things are ‘not that deep’ fundamentally misunderstand me, I am not a fish desperately in search of the ocean, I am a magpie that roves the canons, searching for shiny things to put in my nest. Whether or not it actually is given deep narrative weight by canon itself is of secondary importance to the fact that it has the potential to be interesting, and thus, I covet it.

Once upon a time I worked in this little burger/coffee/ice cream shop and a lady came in one winter and asked if we had a caramel apple drink and we were like ‘well we have cider’ and she was like ‘no I don’t remember what it’s called but this place made a drink that was chai tea, apple cider, and caramel’ and Breezy offered to try and make something for her but she changed her mind and left so Breezy and I were like ‘alright let’s try this’ because we had chai tea, instant cider mix, a shit ton of caramel, instant hot water from the espresso and too much free time. 

And let me tell you it was delightful. It tastes like watching the leaves changing color and dancing in the wind. It tastes like picking out pumpkins and gourds and fresh apples at the farm up north. It tastes like witches and freedom.

I make it every year now and this year I walked in the house on the morning of October first with all the ingredients and shouted ‘FALL DRINK’ and my roommates were like ‘????’ so I made them Fall Drink and now every time they get home from work they’re like ‘Fall Drink pls?????’

Anyway I remember literally nothing else about that woman but I’m very grateful to her. 

i gotta say i love the designs where you can barely tell niki and techno apart. buff, pink-hair, dramatic syndicate cloak, what more do you need

i want to hear ranboo, techno, timedeo, and boffy all in a call together. it will just be four white guys who sound the same and it’ll be great.

I think we would all live a happier life if we revisited the difference between headcanon and alternate universe
