Okay, but hear me out.

Comphet gay Steve Harrington on the Titantic with his arranged fiancée Nancy Wheeler. And while she's nowhere near as digustingly awful as Caledon Hockley is in the movie, she is easily jealous because Steve is a handsome man and gets attention from ladies of all age.

Never mind when he starts wanting to spend all his time with third-class passenger and wild card Eddie Munson, a jack-of-all-trades who just happens to be good at both music and drawing.

And in those few days together, Steve gets to actually live and be happy and realize things about himself and life that he never even dreamed about.

But also give them a happy ending where the door is strong and buoyant enough to hold the weight of two people without sinking into the water.

I love democracy.

So, we all have the same head-canon that when Eddie becomes a rockstar, he writes love ballads (which are anonymous) to his long lost love Steve; who doesn’t know that the songs are about him, but still enjoys them anyways because they’re by his old bestie from Indiana?

(That same man): Your probably wondering how I got in this situation

(voice of a man invariably alienated from the human experience): Hey guys

Nah cuz, why can I imagine a fic where like Hawkins high school has a prom, you know?

But like it’s when Eddie & Steve are in high school at the same time

And Eddie has no one to go with, so he ends up going alone just for shits and giggles and to see what it’s like, and then he ends up meeting the infamous Steve “the hair” Harrington who got ditched by his date and he sits next to Eddie on the floor because he’s sad

And Eddie’s like, “What’s up with you?”

And Steve is like, “My date left me.”

And Eddie’s like, “Well I came alone if that makes you feel better.”

And Steve just looks at him, in a moment of desperation like, “Would you like to dance with me?”

And that’s how they end up slow dancing with each other to “Careless Whisper” by George Micheal

And they totally kiss at that one part that goes “Tonight the music seems so loud, I wish that we could lose this crowd..”

Nobody would notice ofc, but I’m just saying, Steve is definitely questioning his sexuality afterwards and looks at Eddie in a whole new light
