Maybe Kiba is crushing on the reader from afar so Akamaru runs away, leading him to the reader and forcing Kiba to talk to them? “Akamaru!”

His white little ball of fur was next to him one moment and gone the next. Kiba watched with wide eyes as Akamaru begun running, lips parted in a wide dog-like grin and panting as he put one paw in front of the other in a determined mission to lead Kiba off. 

Huffing, Kiba could only yield to his dog’s wishes, running off in an attempt to catch his crazy dog. He didn’t understand what was happening - normally, Akamaru was so well-behaved. Always listening to Kiba’s orders without defiance and doing anything his best-friend asked him off. It was expected, since they’d been by each other’s sides since they were both infants. 

So, it was obvious that Kiba was a bit baffled by Akamaru’s behaviour.

“Slow down, boy!” Kiba shouted, catching the attention of a few civilians as he ran desperately after his dog. The civilians hastily scrambled out of the way of the two ninja’s, narrowly missing being smack by both a dog and a full-grown teen. “Just what is it that has your damned attention!”

Akamaru only barked in response and thus begun the long path Akamaru led his owner through. Kiba was sure they’d travelled to the other side of the village by the time the dog finally yielded to a stop. Kiba, despite being a ninja, was left panting desperately to catch his breath, bending over to steady himself.

It was then that Kiba heard your voice.

“Akamaru?” Your soft voice pulled Kiba’s attention away from his dangerously raising heart beat to you. Peering up from his crouched position, Kiba watched as Akamaru nestled up against your side, mewling appreciatively as you scratched at his ear. “What are you doing here, buddy!”

When the dog glanced back at his owner, Kiba was suddenly all too aware of the dog’s intent.

That sly dog.

Grumbling to himself, Kiba did best to collect himself, straightening his back out and making his way over to you. Your bright eyes glanced up at him the moment you recognized his chakra, your gentle smile nearly pulling Kiba into a daze as you regarded the slightly taller man. “Kiba!” You exclaimed, “I was wondering where you were, considering Akamaru just arrived.” Upon mentioning the dog’s name, you crouched down to better situate yourself and allow both hands to fall on the dog’s fluffy ears.

“Yeah,” Kiba breathed. “I’m not sure why, but Akamaru seemed pretty set on someone. Nice to find out it was you.”

You chuckled softly, eyes not leaving Akamaru’s cute little conniving face. “Well, I certainly don’t mind. I love seeing Akamaru,” smirking, you glanced over at Kiba. “And you too, Kiba, of course.”

Kiba chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck with a small red-hue dancing across his cheeks.

Akamaru suddenly shifted, moving around so he was behind your legs. Kiba watched on in puzzlement, not noticing you as you stood back up until your body came tumbling towards him. Kiba easily caught you, arms darting around your waist as a small little squeal left your lips in bafflement.

Akamaru barked joyfully.

Flushing heavily, you leaned back in Kiba’s arms. “Sorry,” you mumbled, avoiding eye contact. “I’m not sure what happe-”

“It isn’t your fault,” Kiba grinned down at you, before sending a glare in Akamaru’s direction. The dog only wagged his tail in response.

Helping you back to your feet, Kiba smiled; “you good?”

Brushing a strand of hair behind your ear, you nodded. “Yeah,” you giggled lightly. “Thanks for catching me.”

Kiba chuckled; “it’s no problem.”

A moment of silence as the both of you, with red cheeks, smiled shyly down at the ground beneath you. Akamaru, noticing this, moved gently against your legs once again. Not hard enough to send you tumbling forward again, but enough to push you closer to Kiba.

You giggled shyly, looking up at Kiba. “I think you’ve got yourself a wing-man, Kiba.”

Kiba flushed - well, you knew now.

“Or,” you smirked, “should I say wing-dog?”

Akamaru barked appreciatively.

Kiba shook his head, taking a tentative step towards you. “I think wing-dog works,” he whispered, just so you could hear. Peering up at him through your lashes, you smiled, leaning forward.

Another little bump from Akamaru sent your lips falling against Kiba’s in a messy, awkward but unforgettable kiss.

“You know,” Kiba said, a little bit later, when it was just him and Akamaru. “You didn’t have to have me run across the entire village just to set me up with Y/N, Akamaru.”

Akamaru paused, halting Kiba’s movements as the dog sat down, before rolling over. With another wide grin, Akamaru looked expectantly up at his owner. Kiba sighed - damn dog.

“Is Kiba gonna be okay?” You asked, fiddling your thumbs together as you glanced up at Kurenai-sensei. She smiled down at you, giving you a reassuring nod.

Letting her hand fall on top of your head, Kurenai bent slightly so she was at your viewpoint. “Kiba will fine, Y/N,” she said, eyes crinkling in with delight. “I imagine I can leave you in his care? I should get back and watch Hinata’s and Shino’s matches.”

You nodded, giving a hesitant but small smile. Kurenai wasn’t oblivious to the way your eyes stayed solely focused on Kiba. Smiling softly down at you, Kurenai begun walking off; “I leave him in your care.”

Not really noticing that Kurenai had left, you made your way over to Kiba’s bedside, sitting down in the provided chair. Given that your fight was already over, you could stay here as long as Kiba needed (or until someone kicked you out). You were happy for Naruto, you really were, but… you really wanted Kiba to win. Especially because you had! So that you could be in the finals together…

Sighing, you let your eyes wander across the damage down to Kiba and of course, Akamaru. You reached over, picking up the little fluff before softly setting him down in your lap. Akamaru mewed in enjoyment as you did so, cuddling in closer to your stomach and you let a, meaningful, smile dawn on your lips.

A soft groan pulled your attention away from Akamaru and onto the waking form of Kiba. You immediately straightened out in your seat, eager to make sure Kiba was okay. His eyes slowly blinked out, lips parting as he let out soft groans before focusing on what was before him. “Y/N…?”

“Yeah,” you mumbled, glancing down at your lap. “It’s me.”

“What are you doing here?” Kiba asked, pushing himself up so he was in a seated position. “Where are we… What happened?”

“You got hurt is what happened, Kiba,” you huffed, shaking your head.

Kiba glanced at you, not missing the snappy tone included within your sentence. Furrowing his brows, Kiba opened his mouth; “I figured that…” He sighed, “I meant, did I lose?”

“Yes, you did.” You nodded, finally meeting his eyes. “And thank God! If you had kept going the way you had, Naruto would’ve done a lot more damage then just that.”

“Pff,” Kiba scoffed, cheeks tinting a red as he glanced the other way. “Naruto couldn’t hurt a fly.”

“Yeah?” You questioned, raising a brow. You leaned forward, careful of Akamaru who was peacefully asleep on your lap. “Well not only did he hurt you, but he hurt Akamaru too. You were reckless, Kiba. And it got the both of you in danger.”

Kiba remained silent for a moment, pouting before he mumbled; “where’s Kurenai? Shino? Hinata?”

“At the preliminaries. Doing their matches.”

“Ah.”

“Kiba,” you snapped, glaring at him. “You can’t ignore this. I was worried sick! Do you understand that? Don’t you care?”

“Of course I care!”

“If you cared, then you wouldn’t have thrown yourself in danger like that!” You screeched back, “Jesus, Kiba! Do you ever think before you do any thi-?”

“I was trying to win for you!”

You parted lips, ready to yell more of your anger out, fell silent, your back slumping as Kiba’s words seemingly registered within you. “I-… what?”

“I was trying to win for you,” Kiba remembered, mumbling now. “Not because I was jealous - you got in, I didn’t. No. Because I wanted you to be proud of me. To have something to be proud of.”

Sighing, you softly set Akamaru down on the bed before reaching over and grabbing Kiba’s hand. Meeting his eyes, you shook your head. “I’m already proud of you, Kiba. You don’t need to get yourself killed for me to be proud.”

“I know… I just-”

“Promise me,” you interrupted, smiling softly. “You won’t try to impress me anymore. I’m already impressed.”

“Kiba.”

“Okay,” he sighed, slumping. “I promise.”

I’m obviously a major idiot who’s forgotten how to do anything because I lost like half of this before I even posted it. Whoops~ Sorry for the long loooong wait, Anon.

Shisui

Shisui would always take the extra time to say goodbye to his s/o, normally preferring to spend the whole day before he’s due to leave with you. He will get really annoyed or frustrated if he’s given short notice for a mission, often complaining to whoever will listen that it’s “ridiculous” or “unfair”, when really everyone knows its because he’ll really miss you.

Shisui often “forgets” to go to debriefings when he returns from missions, mainly because his main focus on his return is you. He loves to see the look on your face when he’s back from a mission early, and will often scoop you into his arms wherever you are. He has no problem with starting a make out session in public, in front of everyone. To him, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

No matter how much notice Shisui is given before his mission, he always finds time to say goodbye to you properly. Secretly it’s to give him some peace-of-mind. Itachi looked terrible, the bags under his eyes were more prominent and the Akatsuki cloak he wore drowned his body. He was sick, he knew he was sick yet you knew he cared more about them than you, of course he did. It was always like this, months would pass without seeing Itachi and he would appear, stay for a while and leave again.

“But- Y/N..”

“It’s obvious what’s more important to you, just leave.” Tears now fell down your cheeks in streams, your attempt to hold them back was futile. You wanted desperately to run into his arms and breath in his scent, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do so. You were being selfish in this moment, but it was something you couldn’t handle. Itachi was sick, he shouldn’t be leaving but he would never see it that way.

“I love you,” You heard the sincerity clear in his voice and you released a choked sob, feeling arms circle your body from behind. You fell back into his touch immediately, your head resting against his chest. Itachi pressed soft kisses to your cheek, holding you against his body tightly. You could feel what was once muscle now felt like skin and bone and it made you feel even worse.

“I love you too,” Your voice slightly raspy due to your tears. You turned in his arms to face him, circling your own arms around his waist tightly and standing on your tip-toes to press your lips against his own slightly chapped ones. Itachi held the back of your head as he deepened the kiss, running his tongue along your lips, asking for entrance. You moaned into the kiss slightly, the tears still trailing down your cheeks as your tongue danced with his own, trying to put all the passion and love you felt for him into the kiss.

“Please stay, Itachi. You’re sick..”

Where were you when you found out the news of Itachi’s passing?

That was something you would never forget. The stack of papers you had been holding in your arms flew everywhere as one of your friends in full ANBU gear stepped in to see you. They didn’t have to utter a word, you could tell simply by the look in their eyes. The pity.

You dropped to your knees shakily, your breath coming out in quick pants. Tears spilled down your cheeks as your body trembled, your friend coming to your side to try and comfort you. You didn’t want their comfort, you wanted Itachi. You’d been such a bitch to him the last time you saw him, you should have forced him to stay. You were dismissed from work early to go home, everyone looking at you with the same look of empathy. 

Stepping through your front door shakily you dumped your bag by your feet, slipping out of your sandals. Your body felt lethargic as you stepped into your kitchen to grab a glass of water. A white envelope caught your eye as you made your way into the room. It had not been there in the morning when you had left for work and part of you panicked as someone had clearly been inside your house or may still be in your house. You made your way over to the note quickly and your heart stopped when you read what it said on the front.

‘Y/N. I love you, forever.’

Sobs racked your body as you held onto the envelope, recognising Itachi’s elegant scrawl immediately. You soon gave up your thoughts on how the note had gotten here and who had delivered it as you felt the weight of the envelope, noting that there was something inside. Your eyes, blurred by tears moved towards its contents, being careful not to rip it as you opened it slowly. Turning it upside down the contents dropped into your hand and fresh tears stained your cheeks.

Inside was a simple necklace, the charm being a replica of the Uchiha crest. You held it between your fingers as you traced the design, holding it up to your lips to press a kiss against it. You slid your body down the side of your kitchen counter as you brought your legs up to your chest, holding the necklace in your hands. 

This time Itachi was never coming back.
