this might not help everyone but its definitely helped me write relationships, as someone who hasnt been in a relationship.

everyones always like relationships are 50/50, but you've gotta stop thinking them as a fair exchange of services.

its a relationship.

like its okay for one of them to be more experienced in certain stuff, its okay for one of them to be able to be more helpful in certain fields, because they like each other.

thats why theyre in a relationship.

maybe one has a better ability to comfort, and one has a better ability to give advice, that doesnt mean its bad, doesnt mean theres an imbalance, theyre different people, they will be better at different stuff, but they should be ready to help each other because they like and enjoy each others presence.

that doesnt mean one of them is stone cold and just neglects their partners emotions, thats just toxic.

but its not a fair exchange of goods and services, you dont need to show them meeting each other halfway there in every possible aspect, that doesn't seem realistic.

they are together because they like each other, and they're allowed to be confused and make mistakes (mistakes ≠ cheating) theyre allowed to teach each other some things, and unlearn things together.

you dont go into a relationship just because you want someone treating you how you treat them, if you do please work on that before dating, youre supposed to go into a relationship because you are romantically attracted to a person.

so its not 50/50

its not supposed to be fair, youre writing people, humans.

it can be 60/40 sometimes

that doesn't make it a bad ship, it just makes it human.

putting effort into your partner where you can put more effort isnt a problem, because youre supposed to like them and want to make them feel happy.

it becomes a problem when youre the only one putting in effort, but thats not the point of this post.

the point of it is to acknowledge that humans dont have the exact same amount of knowledge on everything, some will feel awkward seeing their partner cry, some will feel upset, some will know how to comfort and some wont.

a healthy relationship isnt a perfect relationship, because a perfect relationship doesnt exist.

a healthy relationship is where you acknowledge that this person knows more than their partner, and they'll teach them what they can.

a healthy relationship is where you acknowledge that they are different people with different needs and different capabilities.

they aren't robots, it most likely will never be 50/50, and thats normal.

why not have one pay for dinner every once in a while? why not have one cook for their partner because they enjoy it? why not have one wash their partners laundry when their partner is tired?

to write a healthy relationship you need to know your characters as individuals and be satisfied with them as individuals then understand how they are compatible and what they have to offer and bring to the table, to write a healthy relationship you realize humans have flaws and conflicts are bound to happen, to write a healthy relationship you find a way to resolve these conflicts realistically and to write a healthy relationship you realize that its fine to do favors for your partner because you are supposed to actually like them, that is the basis of a relationship, liking and wanting them to be happy.

sincerely, from a person who has observed relationships, healthy and toxic, but never been in one.

Idk when I was younger, you could just go and go and find exciting new websites full of whatever cool things you wanted to explore. An overabundance of ways to occupy your time online.

Now, it's just... Social media. That's it. Social media and news sites. And I'm tired of social media and I'm tired of the news.
