“non-sorcerer’s can only exist in three states of being.” getou explained from his spot next to you in the bed. “consumption, creation, and idleness.” he raised three fingers to represent each state of being. “though consumption is the most common, being that your average non-sorcerer spends most of their day consuming content that someone else created. there is still the possibility of creation and idleness.” he pointed to the middle finger, “idleness is usually only reached when one is meditating or sleeping.”

you continued to listen intently as he lowered his hand, using it to pull your body closer to his. “—but sorcerer’s have the ability to tap into a fourth state of being.” you perked up, having never heard of such a thing. in all your years of sorcery education you have never heard of a fourth state of being.

he continued to elaborate, “sorcerer’s have the ability to tap into the void state. this is not to be confused with idleness. existing in a state of void allows for a curse user to tap into an innate source of power that cannot be obtained otherwise.”

you nodded your head slightly starting to understand where this speech was leading, “so this is why you think non-sorcerer’s are subhuman? because they can’t tap into the void state?” getou chuckled, “well it’s one of many reasons, yes.”

you turned over in the bed, having grown tired of the conversation. noticing your frustration, getou placed a light hand on your hip and spoke softly into your ear. “want breakfast?” you silently nodded your head in response. his hand moved to give your ass a final squeeze before he crawled out of the bed. “so pouty.” he said before exiting the room.

your so-called pouty demeanor stimed from your ever conflicted mind. you were still having a hard time coming to terms with the recent events. so much had happened in so little time, and every moment spent with suguru challenged your former beliefs of the jujutsu world.

your irritation seemed to melt away after a hearty breakfast. over the course of your stay in what now seemed to be equally your home as it was getou’s; you took notice of how mornings were suguru’s favorite time of day.

the house spirits took care of everything around the house, except cooking. the act of creating a meal from scratch that could nourish the body was always a calming practice for the experienced sorcerer. your presence being added to his typically lonesome mornings, gave him even more reason to put extra effort into whatever he was preparing for you.

after watching you clear your plate clean, the man smiled at you as he leaned against the kitchen counter with his arms crossed comfortably at his chest. he wondered if every morning could be similar to this one.

you were wiping the crumbs away from your lips when you took notice of suguru staring from across the kitchen, “what?”

getou pushed off of the counter and smiled as he walked towards you. “nothing. nothing at all.” he chuckled. it amazed him how you were so blind at how much he enjoyed your presence; how much he loved it in fact.

your body almost melted into the barstool when getou moved behind you to wrap his arms around your waist, and spoke into your ear. it didn’t matter how often his fingers touched your body, or how frequently you heard his voice speaking softly into your ear, it was a sensation that you were sure you could never get used to.

“‘wanna go get dressed, doll? we have a long day ahead of us.” you turned to face him, “and what am i getting dressed for? another one of your field trips?” getou hummed into your hair and gripped onto your waist tighter, “we both know i love a good field trip. that’s why i’m taking you to see our little soldiers. i want to see how much progress they’ve made since we got them out of that temple.”

you almost felt guilty for a moment, with your recent run in with naoya zenin you had forgotten about the sorcerer’s the two of you liberated from the cultist ritual. after they were sent to be trained with getou’s men, all thoughts of the group were put on the back burner of your mind.

you shuffled out of the chair and getou’s grasp, to go ready yourself for the day, but before exiting the kitchen you turned to face the raven haired man, “you know i was planning on spending another day with you in bed, but i guess i’ll let you take me on one of your little excursions.” you said teasingly.

you were halfway down the hall when you heard a deep voice call out from the kitchen, “don’t tease me! you know i’ll make you pay for it later!”

i’m counting on it. you thought.

an underground complex beneath the streets of tokyo was not what you were expecting to see when getou said you would be going to check on his potential army of sorcerer’s. it took your eyes a moment to adjust to the dark surroundings of the concrete complex where the two of you teleported.

getou acknowledged your confusion, “it’s safer for them here. an underground facility like this can keep out any potential intruders.” you nodded at his explanation, and let him guide you down the dark hallway.

the two of you followed the dim blue lights that lined the concrete walls that eventually led to a large door. getou typed a short number sequence into the pin pad attached to a panel on the door, causing it to slide open quickly with a hydronic hiss.

the cold silence of the hallway was quickly washed away when you laid eyes on the scene playing out past the entryway. the door led the two of you into what looked like a huge communal living space. a large square in the middle of the dome-like space was being occupied by many people participating in various activities. some were sparring, while others looked to be sharing food and chatting.

you gripped onto getou’s hand when you realized that you recognized who the people were, they were the sorcerers that you saved. it took you so long to realize this fact because all of the people looked much different from when you had first met them—they looked happy and healthy, no longer scared and frail.

getou turned to face you, noticing your awed expression, “they all are doing much better now. all thanks to you.” his words snapped you out of your thoughts, causing you to face him with wide eyes, “thanks to me?” you questioned. “yes, it was you who sprang into action that day. it was you who decided to save them.”

before you had the chance to respond, an unfamiliar face broke free from the crowd and approached the two of you quickly. you eyed the unusual looking man as he approached. he was a tall man with a long black stripe covering the bridge of his nose and both cheeks and two spiky buns in his hair. he wasn’t the most conventional looking person, but he carried a warm aura around him.

getou smiled at the man, and let the stranger pull him in for a hug. you arched a brow at this, having known that getou was never much of a hugger. even with his closest friends. “how are you doing choso?” getou asked. “i’m doing just fine brother, and so are the rest of the family.” he said, motioning to the room of people.

this guy’s really family oriented. you thought.

getou hummed, “good. good.” getou then turned to you, “choso, i’d like for you to meet my—“ silence filled the air as getou wondered how you should be introduced. we’re you his girlfriend? his captive? his partner? he didn’t know.

you took initiative by cutting getou off and reaching out to shake choso’s hand and introduced yourself, hoping that he wouldn’t notice the previous awkward silence.

choso looked at you with an admirative smile, “so you’re the one who’s responsible for these people being able to live another day.” you blushed, having guessed that getou relayed the story to choso. “guess so.” you laughed uncomfortably.

it was getou’s turn to but in for you and redirect the conversation, “that’s why we’re here choso. we need to discuss just how ready this lot is for war.” choso’s expression turned soloum.

“so we have a war on the horizon.” he turned and motioned for the two of you to follow. “we’ll need to talk more in my private quarters. follow me.”

getou and yourself were led into another room lined with concrete, except this one was smaller and clearly set up to be an office space. choso sat behind his desk and invited the two of you to take a seat. choso leaned forward and laced his fingers together on top of the desk, “so, how much time do we have?”

getou’s brows furrowed in thought, “there’s no way to be sure, but we know that gojo is working with naoya zenin. naoya’s only in it for the money, but this is personal for gojo.” getou turned to face you, wondering if this was a good idea letting you in on this conversation. neither one of you talked about it, but you both knew your feelings for gojo were still convoluted.

choso grumbled, “they aren’t ready yet. some of them are younger than the others and still aren’t even up to a grade four. i need more time to train them. if they go into battle now, they would be as good as dead.” he said frankly. you shifted uncomfortably in your seat at the thought of all those people happily eating, talking, and sparring being led to their deaths.

getou sighed, “well, in that case we’ll have to expedite the process. we’ll help you train them.” your neck shot to the side to meet getou’s eyes and quickly cut him off, “we will? and when did you plan on discussing this with me? i don’t even know if i want to be involved in this so-called war, much less train an army of sorcerer’s.” your voice came out smooth and even, but the men could see the icy glare in your eyes.

choso cleared his throat awkwardly, “i will let you two have some privacy. i’m needed in the training square anyways.” he said, quickly ushering himself out of the office, leaving you and getou alone. when the door clicked shut you let out a huff and stood. you couldn’t help but pace about the room, confusion and irritation took over your train of thought.

getou finally broke the silence after deciding that he couldn’t bare to see you make another lap around the office, “i’m sorry.” he said lowly. you stopped in your tracks. “what?”

getou stood from the chair and made his way towards you. he placed his hands gently on your waist, hoping that it would ease the anxious tension in your body. he peered down at you for a moment with caring eyes, “i said im sorry.” you let out another tight breath at his words, feeling the knot in your chest release. it never did take much for you to forgive suguru, you would probably never lose the soft spot that you had for him. no matter what the circumstances were.

he continued, “i shouldn’t have volunteered for the both of us before talking to you first. it’s just that we’re always on one accord with each other. i just assumed that you would be okay with it; i assumed wrongly, and for that i am wrong.”

you pressed your forehead to his chest, letting him embrace you fully. “i’m just still so confused about all of this.” you spoke with a muffled voice into getou’s shirt. he placed a kiss into your hair, “i know doll, i’m sorry. i’ll try my best not to place any more emotional burdens on you. i promise.”

his hands left your waist, to cup your face in his palms. “i love you too much to be the main cause of your stress.” his words rendered you completely speechless.

love?

your brain seemed to lose all processing power and you had no time to try to think his words over, before his lips connected to your own initiating a kiss that felt like exactly that. love.
