Reasoning: That scene when Rivington told Samuel that Robert, being up in his room, might be “entertaining a lady, or ladies” and then the camera cuts to Robert sitting alone at his desk doing spy work just spoke volumes lol. Plus Robert leading Rivington on about how he’s seeing someone named Nelly just for her to be revealed as the family dog was quite humorous. Robert also seems to highly value his relationship with his father above all else, and it’s so nice to see such love and value placed on a platonic relationship. He also finally became friends with Abe in the last episode, as he seemed to enjoy his company as they laughed over a game of checkers. Most characters on this show seem involved romantically/sexually, and gaining a wife or husband was embedded into their endgames, but Robert doesn’t show much of an interest towards anyone. Even when André expresses his woes of woman troubles to Robert, he uses this for his spy work of course but doesn’t seem to really empathize or have much of a reaction, same goes for when the redcoats at the tavern make comments about ladies. He doesn’t seem to show interest in any men either (I’m just speaking of what I’ve personally observed, though).

Reasoning: okay hear me out. for most of the early seasons he seems super uncomfortable with going out with strangers and feels the need to nitpick everyone he goes out with to find some reason to call it off. the only people he's every really comfortable dating are janice, who he has an on again-off again thing with for several seasons and only seems to actually be genuinely interested in the third or fourth time they get together, and monica, his eventual wife who was his very close friend and neighbor for years before they started dating.
