Bad Batch - Afterlife? Echo

Bad Batch - Afterlife? Echo

You weren't sure how you got here. You were walking down the street and felt the gunshot, remembered falling to your knees and things going dark. But then you woke up here, surrounded by corridors and people you did not know.

Looking around you heard someone threatening another with death if they continued talking about the dead son they had murdered. So you hurry away from those voices to find yourself in a giant room that looked like a honeycomb. The voices were coming up behind you so you quickly begin to climb down it and hid from people in the shadows of the darkened room.

Quickly darting though the ground floor you found another door that lead to more corridors. Then you realized that you were feeling a breeze and looked at your clothing for the first time. Or your lack of it.

That morning you had dressed in a long sleeved sweater, jeans, and boots due to it being cold out. Now you were wearing a sleeveless garment that fell to your mid thigh, and very little else. Looking around you found that the doors had names on them. Maybe this place had a room for you where you could find a more stable outfit while you figured out what was going on.

Hurrying forward you found that there were less and less female sounds coming from the rooms around you. It was starting to be only male sounds. And that was something you remembered too well from your days as a slave.

You wanted to go back but by now you were well and truly lost. Panicking you started to hear a voice, no multiple voices that sounded almost identical. CLONES!

Instantly you remembered Echo, the sweet clone who had been part of the squad that helped you escape the second time you were enslaved. You were certain he would help you again, the problem was how to find him. So you begin asking the clones if they had seen him. When they asked you how you would know you talked about his metal legs, the scope on his amputated right arm, and the piece he always wore to cover the ports on his head where the separatists has accessed his brain. Soon you heard the slightly grumpier voice, "Y/N?"

Turning you see him and run to him crying, "Echo!"

Echos remaining arm wraps around you and the scope rests on your back, "Are you alright?"

You shake your head, "It's too much."

As you were trying not to break down you feel his arm tighten around you, "Come with me." Still holding on to him in a side hug the two of you walk down the corridors until you reach an apartment. Walking though the living room he leads you to a bedroom. When he lets go of you, your knees finally give out and you collapse onto the bed. As you start to pull into yourself you hear his voice again, "Y/N." Looking up you see him holding a t-shirt and sweat pants. Setting them next to you on the bed, "I'll be in the living room if you need me." You nod and he leaves you alone.

The memories are dancing at the edges of your vision and you scrub your face before putting on the clothes that he gave you. Picking up the spare blanket at the foot of the bed you wrap it around yourself as an extra layer and go out to the living room. Echo quickly turns and comes towards you and asks while looking into your face, "Any better?"

With a greatful smile you nod, "Thank you Echo." Hugging the blanket closer to yourself, "What is this place?"

Taking a deep breath he answers, "We don't know what it's called, just that some people come here after they have been shot." Leading you into the kitchen where there is a teapot and some scones sitting on the table, "There seems to be no pattern in the people brought here though."

Picking up the teapot and pouring out some, "That is odd." You start shaking and set the teapot down hard enough to cause some of it to spill, "Sorry."

Echo quickly crosses to you, "There's nothing to be sorry about." Opening his arms in the silent offer of a hug that you happily accept the two of you settle on the bench at the table. With Echos good arm wrapped around you there was no question about it, you are safe.

*Authors note: Yes I leaned into the trauma a bit in this one, but I can't help thinking Echo would be the perfect man for someone with PTSD as well. Hes such a sweetheart and would definitely be one hundred percent there for you. Not that the other Batchers wouldn't be, but he understands being alone in a bad situation a lot better than Crosshair does in this AU. Because I refuse to let him betray them. So Echo is our #1 trauma boy.

Venting my writing woes

Sometimes I get stuck when writing. There are two ways for that to happen for me.

First, have a place where I want my characters but not sure how to get there. I can force myself to write still, but I usually don't like it as it is a struggle to get words out.

Second and worse in my opinion is when I have no idea where I'm going in a story. I read over the story and my brain just stops. There is no ideas, no progression, nothing. No matter the positive comments, the people who want me to write more, I just can't. There's nothing and I hate it.

That's why I have so many unfinished stories on Fan fiction dot net and the same ones on Archive of Our Own. I just can't wring anything else out of my stupid brain! So I move on to a different idea and write that.

I kind of wish people would give me ideas on where to go. Don't get me wrong, I love the positive reinforcement! But I sometimes feel that I'm letting people down because I just CAN'T GET MY BRAIN TO COOPERATE!

So I'm sorry. I'm promise I'm trying. Please know that I don't like leaving stories hanging for months or years. My brain just gets fixated on certain things for a while and then moves on to the next obsession and just won't go back. I'll do my best to progress the stories in the next year.

Bad Batch - Afterlife? Tech

Panicking you started to hear a voice, no multiple voices that sounded identical. CLONES!

Remembering Tech, the genius clone that had helped you before you decide to look for him. Asking the other clones about him and describing his widows peak and goggles you walked along until you finally heard that cultured voice ask, "Y/N?"

Turning you see him and cry "Tech!" as you run into his arms to hug him. You could feel him freeze and so you pull back a bit, "Sorry, I'm just really glad to see you." Motioning around at everything around you two, "I just got here."

Tech had adjusted his glasses and seemed to be scanning you, "There appears to be no injury."

Smiling at him, "No, I was panicking because all of this is new."

Nodding once, "It does take some getting used to." As you shiver due to the chill he continued, "Lets get you to my squads apartment."

Agreeing to this plan you start to walk with him and notice the lustful looks around you. So you slip your hand into Tech's as he started talking about lunar cycles. You were so busy listening to him talk that you did not realize he never pulled away from you even as you laid your other hand on his arm.

Walking side by side the two of you soon reached the goal he had in mind and he brought you into the apartment. Shutting the door behind the two of you he motioned for you to wait while he went into another room. You sank onto the couch and a few minutes later he reemerged holding sweatpants and a t-shirt folded neatly, "I thought these would help with the chill."

You smiled fully, "Thank you Tech."

He only nodded and pointed to a white door two down from the room he emerged from, "That is the bathroom." You nod once and disappear into it to change.

When you left the bathroom a few minutes later you find Tech making tea. With a deep breath you realize it's your favorite kind. Crossing the room to him, "I left the other garment in the hamper."

Looking over at you as he took out the tea bag, "Very good." Motioning to the couch, "Sit down, I'll be with you in a moment." Then he focused back on the tea.

Settling yourself on the couch you wait for him to be finished. It did no good to talk to him when he was concentrating on something else. It was only a few minutes before he brought over two cups of tea. Taking the one he extended, "Thank you." Sipping it you smile at him as he watches you, "This is delicious."

Typical of him he answers, "I thought it would be as I set the water to boil at the perfect temperature and have found that you prefer three to four minutes of the tea seep." Stopping himself he looked at your slightly trembling hands, "Are you alright?"

Taking a deep breath, "I am now that with you because I know I'm safe." Gripping the cup tighter, "But when I came here...." you proceed to tell the story of how you woke up there, and the wandering thought the place until you heard the voices and went to look for him.

Wiping your face on your sleeve you look up to see him lost in thought before stating, "That matches the story everyone has been sharing." Looking at you again, "There are multiple ways to get a room in this place, most of which have to do with the slavery you left." You could feel your face pale as he continued, "However if you sleep in the same room as another person it should be enough. For example," motioning to the space you two were in, "if you were to sleep on the couch and I in this chair it should be enough to get you your own space."

Smiling at him a little shakily, "I can do that." Tracing the cup, "What should I know about this place?" Then he started talking about everything he and his brothers had learned, and you felt peace just listening to his voice.

Bad Batch-Afterlife? Tech 1 1/2(AKA Techs view on the situation)

Tech has schedules and plans for everything. If it is new to him he will create a plan and/or schematic for it. However walking up in just his blacks after apparently dying was a situation he had not expected to find himself in. But as he appeared to be in a hallway with his fellow clones it did not seem like that much of a leap that this was an afterlife.

Walking down the hallway he was soon greeted by Crosshair who had been killed on a previous mission. And the two squad mates talked over what to do in the situation. Coming to the conclusion that they needed more data.

Over the coming months their brothers arrived. First Echo, then Wrecker, and finally Hunter making their squad complete. No need to be concerned about new arrivals. But Tech was concerned. He was concerned what would happen to you if you came here.

To prepare for the possibility Tech used his skills to get a t-shirt and sweatpants that would fit you if you ever came. Crosshair kept watch in the less than legal doings but did not say anything with Tech this determined.

A distraction would come with Wrecker and/or Crosshair getting into fights with the regs, but as Echo and then Hunter was there to take care of it Tech was able to quickly return to his analysis of the situation. Making maps of the prison and noting when new arrivals usually came. He was doing this when there was a sudden stir and he looked up expecting to see his squad mates starting something. But no, the crowd parted and he saw, "Y/N?"

You turn to see him, the loose clothing swirling around you and ran to him, "Tech!" He was startled as you hugged him tightly, knocking the air out of him. So startled that he froze and you quickly pulled away from him, "Sorry, I'm just really happy to see you." As you motioned to everything around you, "I just got here."

Knowing the stories of what usually happened to new arrivals he started to scan you, "There appears to be no injury."

His heart melted a little as you smiled, "No, I was just panicking because this is new."

Nodding once, "It does take some getting used to." Seeing you shiver and noting the slight change in your skin color caused by cold, "Let's get you to my Squads apartment."

After you agreed Tech motions the direction the apartment is in and starts walking beside you. He was trying to analyze the possible situations that your arrival might create when he felt your had slip into his. You were shaking and with a start he realized that you were looking to him for comfort. It was not his strong suit but he would certainly try, so he started talking about lunar cycles because facts had always been relaxing to him. It seemed to be the right move because your other hand reached up to rest on his arm while he led the way.

Letting the two of you into the apartment Tech made sure you were in before closing the door behind the two of you. Holding up a hand in a 'wait' gesture before seeing you nod and he went into his room. Once inside he could see the clothes he had gotten for you resting on the deck, still neatly folded. They could be seen anywhere in the room, a silent reminder of his goal to protect and return to you. Picking up the neatly folded t-shirt and sweat pants he returned to where you were sitting on the couch. Holding them out to you, "I thought these would help with the chill."

Looking up you see them stand up before taking them with a smile that made all the work to get them worth it, "Thanks Tech."

Nodding in acceptance he pointed down the hallway, "That's the bathroom." You nod in acknowledgement before going into the bathroom to change and he turns to the kitchen. Setting the water to boil he gets out your favorite tea. Trying not to picture Hunters knowing smile when he asked for it Tech focused on making the tea the way you like it.

After a few minutes he could hear the door open and footsteps approaching him. Focusing on the tea, "I left the other garment in the hamper."

Trying to fight the blush at the thought of you in that short, sleeveless, and partially see-though garment he looked over at you while taking out the tea bag, "Very good." Motioning with his free had to the couch, "Sit down, I'll be with you in a moment." Focusing on the tea again he tried to fight down the emotions that the thought of you in that outfit brought and tried to organize his thoughts with all the information you would need to get through this.

Bringing the two cups of tea over to the couch he hands you one, "Thank you," was your quiet answer and you sipped as he sat in the chair across from you, "This is delicious."

Feeling the need to explain how he was able to make the perfect cup of tea for you, "I thought it would be as I set the water to boil at the perfect temperature and have found that you prefer three to four minutes of the tea seep." Seeing your hands shaking, "Are you alright?"

You take a deep steadying breath, "I am now that with you because I know I'm safe." Gripping the cup tighter, "But when I came here...." Then you tell the story that had been told many times over the past few months. Being shot, apparently dying, before waking up in a strange place.

Studying the tea he gathered his thoughts now that you were finished, "That matches the story everyone is telling." Looking at you again, "There are multiple ways to get a room in this place, most of which have to do with the slavery you left." He could see your face pale so he tried to reassure you, "However if you sleep in the same room as another person it should be enough. For example," motioning to the space you two were in, "if you were to sleep on the couch and I in this chair it should be enough to get you your own space."

Relieved at the slightly shaky smile you gave him, "I can do that." There was a silence and he cursed his need to give the facts and how he scared you. But he was pulled out of it by your face, "What should I know about this place?" Putting his knowledge and experiences from the months here he started telling you a friendly version given your past as a slave. When you fell asleep sitting on the couch he stayed in the chair across from you reading through his data pad, making sure that you were safe as you rested from the changes of the day.
