“how long do these usually take?” you ask, hand tucked into the palm of the man beside you. subconsciously, you tighten your grip on him, and a little smile comes across your lips as you look to the side and examine his side profile. maybe it’s just a pleasant side effect coming from the presence of all the christmas lights twinkling around you but you find him particularly beautiful tonight. the yellow lights create something of a glowing halo around his black fringe, outlining that choppy mullet he gave himself just last week and taking some of the edge away from his otherwise rough appearance.

“hm, maybe thirty minutes all the way around? they said it could vary though, depending on how long the line to get in is. we picked a good day, i think.” hongjoong motions behind you towards the rather short line of people waiting to get on the ferris wheel with you two. you hum softly and return your hand to his, lacing your fingers together with practiced ease as you step up onto the platform to get on the ride.

“i read that on christmas eve they shoot fireworks at midnight and the view from the top of the wheel is unrivaled,” you say, watching hongjoong pull your tickets from his pocket to hand off to the teenager outside the carriage.

“is that so? should i take you then as well?”
