Head Canon that Mihawk is kind of above average at using any weapon, especially slashy bladed ones, but he could make do passively with pretty much any weapon because a) he screams gifted kid and just generally has the vibe of someone with a natural propensity for weaponry b) he geniunly finds all weaponry fascinating and a big part of appreciating weapons is being able to adequately use them. c) I just want to see him use a bow and arrow pretty accurately.

But the real reason is because he can’t throw a punch for the life of him and this is his way of overcompensating for that fact. I also just think Shanks teaching Mihawk, perfection personified, something that he’s completely, embarrassingly horrible at is really funny.

Because he was raised by some of the best pirates in the game and regularly witnessed one Vice Admiral Garp, the king of bar brawling, at work. Shanks is a master of the very the subtle art of throwing hands.

He takes Mihawk into bars for a little friendly brawling and because Mihawk takes to brawling like a penguin does to flying, Shanks has to physically restrain him from slaughtering everyone in the bar for baring witness to his flailing. Shanks thinks it’s adorable you know besides the murder. 👀

Another One Piece crossover I wanted to try just for fun (I am a little bit addicted to doing these atm) And because I just adore Calvin and Hobbes 🐯❤️

Because I like to cause Mihawk emotional strife. I think it’d be fun if he had like a relative or a master, I don’t know just someone older and wiser who was a trusted adult to him, but who abandoned him and he convinces himself that they must have died right? because they wouldn’t just leave him, right?

But it turns out that’s exactly what they did and he knows this because they show back up in his life when he’s a grown man and the greatest swordsman in the world, and expect to just fit seamlessly back into his life. With the only reason given being that they knew it would make him stronger and it must have worked because look how strong he is! He’s Literally the greatest!

And Mihawk is taking 10/10 emotional damage. So much damage that he’s actually emoting and conveying facial expressions outside of smirks and displeased frowns. He is geniunly devastated that his mentor hadn’t just died like any respectable mentor should and is now expecting him to have feelings about it. 😒

He spends the first couple of days deluding himself and treating the mentor like a ghost come to haunt him for his sins. But Mihawk doesn’t do regret so that falls away pretty quickly. Not before he tries to have them exorcised though.
