A few weeks ago we did a quick bike-ferry trip to North Saanich. I had strep throat so we took it pretty easy and mostly hung out in the AirBnB. Had fun regardless, and a highlight was getting to meet these cuties 🐐
Another collection of old pics (these one scraped from my late Facebook profile) from my BMX past. Fun to relive these escapades for sure, tho I'm sure glad I'm a lot cuter now lol. Smarter too - much better now about wearing my helmet whenever I'm on my bicycle!
Went on a 5-night family camping trip last week to Tofino and Miracle Beach on Vancouver Island. After 3 days of playing in the waves + bodyboarding 🥶 and 5 days of skimboarding + riding bikes 🥵 got home tired but happy ☺️

Today my partner brought me home a baby Yoshi that they rescued from the side of the road 💚 💚 💚 Now I have two Yoshis!!
Letting my son stay up a bit late to go on an evening berry picking walk in the summer was worth it. We got quite the delicious haul, and what we didn’t eat I used to make salmon berry + huckleberry cornbread the next morning 😋 Bonus was bringing some wildflowers home from down by the highway, although turns out they smell kinda like dirty socks and have thus been put outside as deck flowers only lol 😂
As much as I have mixed feelings about Father’s Day, I do sincerely appreciate the sentiment here…

A few years ago, in the midst of Covid, I bought an inflatable kayak off Craigslist in an effort to bring some nautical adventure into the lives of my son and I. After naming her “Queen of the Nicomekl” (a nearby river where she had her inaugural voyage) good times were had in the many waters around our home. I’ve patched a few of her leaks over the years, but it’s become increasingly difficult to keep her afloat. Last weekend she took what I believe will be her final voyage (with us at least). Thanks for the all the good times Queen, we’ll miss you 🫡
Although my son wasn’t with me for Christmas Day, it was still a great one. My partner gave me this gorgeous bracelet, this impressive charcuterie spread was just one of several amazing meals with their family, and we even snuck in a super fun slushy snowskate session in the afternoon. It was proven to me once again how good I’ve got it when, laying in front of the fire after to warm up, they slid their hand between my bony knees to keep me comfortable. Thank you love!!! ❤️ 💜 ❤️
Some fun activity today - started with skating the Interriver pump track in the early AM, a mellow hike around Rice Lake and mid-morning nap on a soft bed of moss, 2nd skate at Seylynn (no pic), veggie dog lunch at Bridge Brewing, then a dip in the Capilano River to cool off (also no pic), and some pinball at Far Out Coffee Post (again no pic) before heading home 🛹 ☀️👍
Somehow my upside down emo shadow heart idea turned out vaguely suggestive 😂

Remembered today that there are some decades-old pics of me on Pinkbike, so took a stroll down memory lane - “urban assault” lol at the University of Alberta and downtown Edmonton, racing at the Outdoor Adventure Show, and a little huck that left me with a broken collarbone and fuzzy memory of an awkward small-town Thanksgiving dinner with a friend’s family while doped up on painkillers after the ER and waiting for my understandably unimpressed father to pick me up 😂
Questionable aesthetic and fashion sense aside, happy to see this video of the time a friend and I found a basketball 🏀 in an alley while out skating 🛹 We took it to a nearby park with a low hoop to practice silly slam dunks after a fun bouldering wall session 🧗🏼♀️
Caught a nasty cold/flu recently that decimated my household. Although I’m slowly on the mend, I was still isolating last weekend due to a lingering chest cough. Decided to spend some time at the quietest local beach spot I know. My favorite way down includes a steep trail along the bluff, and at the top there’s this amazing lookout that always takes my breath away. The eagles nest all around, and every time the sun shines there it’s like a million diamonds sparkling on the sea ✨
