I love how Abrams doesn’t notice how other people are reacting to his actions.
In relation to your earlier HC about Steven and Klaus, I just assumed they were at most Friends With Benefits considering _how much_ Steven probably sleeps around. Klaus knows he'd never have him all to himself, though part of him wishes he did and has trouble sometimes reconciling where Steven's probably been. Regardless, they're fairly professional and platonic about it, unless the need arises to "deal with something", iykwim (I did write a fic about that in my NSFW blog & AO3)
Oooh! I like the friends with bennies hc as well! I def have to check that fic out.But yeah, my take on it is Klaus would want a more old-fashioned relationship and that… just wouldn’t happen with Steven. (And then Steven and Chain finally hook up and she indulges his more masochistic tendencies but that is a whoooooooole ‘nother headcanon - especially since later chapters seem to be leaning a bit towards Chain and Zapp. Oh well, I can dream).
Klaus doesn’t strike me as someone who could be casual about sex. I don’t think Klaus can be casual about anything, really. But I could definitely see him trying the friends with benefits thing because he’d want to make Steven happy and it going horribly wrong (because I love pain, pls ignore me)
….Totally off topic, but definitely more cheery than my thirst for angst, as of volume 7 it’s possible Klaus might have a thing for Hummer (though who doesn’t amirite):
(Look at his big stupid face on their chaperoned outing to the art museum what a dork)
Nightow’s Comments
First round of Nightow’s comments from B5. Second round here
( from this point on POV= Nightow)
Klaus:
The Reinherz family itself is not a family of Blood-breed hunters. They are an extremely aristocratic family with an incredible amount of prestige even among the “outside world”. Klaus is the third son. He has 2 older brothers and one older sister. Because of a certain “trigger” only Klaus became a vampire hunter. Because of this, the Reinherz house is now backing Fang Hunters. There seems to be an important reason Klaus has to wear glasses as well as why he calls Abrams “teacher”. I am thinking about various settings about his past. His face is intense despite having idealistic thoughts that are laughable.
Leo:
In simple terms Leo is the “viewer” He is in the role of watching HL from the public view point so his name is “Watch”. He is also the ‘reactionist” to make him more relatable. In a place full of unusual people and things I would call his role fairly important. I was inspired by Peter Parker of Sam Raimi’s Spider Man. He gives pictures that he can’t sell to a newspaper company. Leo’s parents are alive. His father is quiet and serious while his Mother is quite spunky. His family is the community leader. Leo’s camera is second-hand (used).
Zapp
was created out of a necessity for a “ransacker” to help move the story. If the story only has characters of a certain nature, the story will calm down and won’t move, so it is very handy. Regarding the design, I just sketched a character that came naturally to me. Zapp is also a character with a mysterious past isn’t he? Why is he able to use blood techniques? Perhaps it was necessary for survival. He is basically “rootless grass” living off of women. He is really lazy. He seems to insist on smoking on cigars.
Steven:
I figured Libra would need a quick-witted worker. His relationship with Klaus is like Yin and Yang. Despite his soft smile he is always guarded. While terrifying when facing enemies, as a friend there are not any men that are so dependable. The two have been acquainted since quite young. I originally thought of a character with scars on his face because I wanted to parody the name “Scarface” (スカーフィいズ) to “Starphase”(スターフィイズ). The tattoo starts at the neck and spreads throughout his body. It extends from the neck and uses his feet as attack sites via the heart.
Chain:
Libra’s “red-pointer”. I designed her after my usual modal of woman. She was inspired by Yoko Makai and her role in “SP” (something about a Metropolitan Police Force Guard Division 4). In my first idea of Blood Blockade Battlefront, Klaus is a vampire, Gilbert is a mummy man so I thought to have another famous creature by adding a “were wolf” (lol). Regarding the werewolf and their abilities, there are various “settings” that have not been explored yet. Specifically about things related to Chains “father”. She was a member of the wolf bureau although it seems that’s second-hand since she’s joined Libra.

Writing Tip #2: Good-Guy protagonist
We’re back and definitely not by popular demand. Even if no one wants to hear I’m still making these damn things because they’re just might be one or two people I can help by doing this. So I’m doing it and if you have a problem with that than deal with it.
The topic for this one is going to be personally covering my least favorite Archetype for a protagonist. An Archetype that has become so FUCKIN common you can see it literally everywhere. It drags on my nerves to an unending degree.
This kind of protagonist has these following points normally most if not all that make them who they are:
Goes out of their way to help people
Likes teaching life lessons
Hold’s morals above all else
Refuses to kill
Friends are the best thing since sliced bread
Rarely if ever fails
Dead mentor
I’m pretty sure you all ae getting war-like flashbacks to all of the protagonists like that. Ranging from Superman to most YA protagonist in novels. This kind of character isn’t limited to just books but spans every single form of story-telling. The issue with this kind of protagonist are that they’re is NO REAL PERSON LIKE THAT. It sacrifices relatability for having a morally just protagonist which is an issue in of itself.
My choice for the best iteration would be Klaus Von. Reinherz from Kekkai Sensen(Blood-Blockade Battlefront)
He does the Good Guy Protagonist justice, by not being completely unrelatable. He’s shown to have a wild side being able to actually enjoy fighting, and it also shows us that this good guy nature can be abused. With him sometimes letting it go straight to his head. the pragmatism of being able to say “sometimes you have to kill” and openly showing that he rather dislikes it, but is willing. The most important way they do this is by having HIM not the protagonist, but a mentor to ours. It fits his archetype without making it get in the way of believability.
If I had to pick any story for this type of character it would be in a YA adventure with him as the mentor. It highlights the strong points while diminishing the weak ones. You can have him be the main for many novels, but be absolutely sure to keep flaws in mind to ensure that the characters believable.
