One week.

It has been one week since you last saw Taehyung outside of the university. Not even at your spot that no one knows except the two of you.

Dae Jun visits your place every now and then, and sometimes it's you tagging along with your father and his assistant forcefully. That makes it harder for the two of you to meet peacefully.

He has lovely parents, though. You remember when you were directly brought to his place after the studying hours, and your hair was out of place because of the wind. His mother had asked you very sweetly, if it would be okay for her to brush it before the 'men' arrived.

She had praised how pretty your hair looked, you being a perfect student and how good your personality was. When she asked about your day, warmth started filling inside you.

Your father never made the effort to ask these basic questions, and so, it felt nice for a short time, until she suddenly brought up your mother.

"Your mother must be so proud of you."

The words fell out of her mouth genuinely, but it had you digging your nails into palm, for sure.

Of course she didn't know the truth since your father told the same old story to anyone who asked about your mom. That she is no more, which is true for him.

"Y/n, darling, do you trust me?"

Your mother asked as she kneeled down to drop to your level, her own hands gripping yours softly.

When you nodded, she wrapped her hands around your small figure, hugging you securely before your father came from behind, reaching for her arm and tugging you out of her grip.

"Get the hell out of here, Minseo."

"Let me just—"

"Y/n, go back to your room. Uncle Jung is waiting for you." He said, voice low to hide his anger in front of his little daughter.

Ignoring what he said, you looked around when you finally caught sight of the big suitcase beside the table, the one which your mother only used on family trips.

"Mom, are we going somewhere? Should I start packing? Will you help me with it?"

You asked, eyes big with curiosity and a little panic because your father doesn't like it when you're late for something. The only difference is that you were not informed this time.

"No. You're not going anywhere. No one is moving out of here except this woman!"

"Yejoon! Stop yelling, she's just a child! I need to explain a few things to her before going, for good."

He scoffs in return, moving out of the room and shutting the door close, loud enough to make you flinch.

That is when your mother sets back her attention on you. Her eyes still hold adoration for you, but she knows better.

"Sweetie, mom is not going to be around you… for a while," She says and before you can say something, she continues.

"Don't you worry! I'll keep visiting and you still have your dad and Uncle Jung with you."

"But— All of us always go out together…" You mumble and even if your mother heard, she probably pays no heed to it.

"I just need some time alone. You know that, right?"

Yes. You wanted to say yes, and not interfere in her life because she taught you about giving people their personal space and not bugging them around when they are sad.

Perhaps your mom was sad. Why? Did father do something? Did you do something that made her upset?

"Did I do something wrong? Is that why you're angry and going on a nice trip, alone?"

"Do you not understand that I don't want to stay in this house anymore? Not with your father, not that assistant of his, and not you? Is it so difficult?!"

She practically yells at you while shaking your shoulders, and you definitely don't miss the way she breaks down in front of you, almost choking on her own words.

Bringing your small thumb to wipe the tears away, you utter out a soft, "Don't cry, I won't ask why you're sad, mom." towards her. She cries harder, hugging your frame and muttering, "I'm sorry", multiple times.

The door opens, and Mr. Jung watches the two of you before coming closer to your mom and whispering something near her ear. She looks at you with glossy eyes once again, pressing a kiss against your forehead, and leaves without a single more word.

Now you finally know why she was upset. It wasn't just about staying away from you and your father, but being with someone whom she prefers above you and your father.

No one talked about her in the house, especially your dad. He used to work the whole day at his office, staying there too, and only coming home a few days a month.

But when he did, you were always asleep and looking at you only made him more apologetic than ever. It wasn't your fault that your mother wanted a family with someone else, and not have any connection with her ex- husband and daughter.

your eyes sting with tears even more than before upon hearing your boyfriend's response.

"but— what about… everything we did together? the promises we made?" you ask once more, hoping that he understands how much still, you want your relationship to be strong, and not just end after eight months.

he scoffs at the sight of you. messy hair from clutching on them a little too hard, eyes teary and definitely full of surprise because of the statement he made a few moments ago.

"have you seen yourself, really? don't you think i would rather not be with you anymore?"

"what the fuck even happened!? you were— we were, talking about our future just yesterday!"

jungkook nearly flinches at your raised voice. but even if your words affect him, just a bit, he doesn't show it.

poking his tongue inside his cheek, he takes a deep breath, "i… met someone. hyunji, to be precise."

hyunji, his ex. the pretty, "it" girl of all. he had told you he was over her (when you had asked him if he's sure about another relationship).

you should have known though, he was still in love with her.

were you never enough for him?

your words accidently come out loud, and jungkook shakes his head while looking down.

"no, that's never been the case. i swear, y/n. in fact, you are too good… "

"then why are you breaking up with me? going back to the person who broke your heart, when you came crying to me?"

he closes his eyes at the memory, recalling how a heated argument had left him and his ex fighting, and finally breaking up. he remembers coming straight to your house while crying, too.

and even if he wants to thank you for that again, at the very moment, or at least let out some words of comfort for you, the words that slip out of his tongues leave you, and him silent for a while.

"just so you know, we were both at fault. it wasn't just her, so stop making her the bad bitch here when you were clearly the one who wanted to hook up with me after knowing the whole thing!"

"get out."

hearing you, he just sighs before picking up his jacket and putting on his cap.

"i will, yes. and i'm sorry.", he says.

a not-so humourous laugh leaves your mouth.

"you don't mean it."

he gulps and opens the door to leave your house, looking back at you for the last time.

but you aren't looking his way. because if you do, you are sure you'll break down, once again.

it will be alright, you think.

and after two years, when you meet taehyung, it really gets okay.
