worth it

✧ note: this is really awful, i'm sorry.

"would you say that it was worth it?"

"no, not really."

your eyes sting with tears even more than before upon hearing your boyfriend's response.

"but— what about… everything we did together? the promises we made?" you ask once more, hoping that he understands how much still, you want your relationship to be strong, and not just end after eight months.

he scoffs at the sight of you. messy hair from clutching on them a little too hard, eyes teary and definitely full of surprise because of the statement he made a few moments ago.

"have you seen yourself, really? don't you think i would rather not be with you anymore?"

"what the fuck even happened!? you were— we were, talking about our future just yesterday!"

jungkook nearly flinches at your raised voice. but even if your words affect him, just a bit, he doesn't show it.

poking his tongue inside his cheek, he takes a deep breath, "i… met someone. hyunji, to be precise."

hyunji, his ex. the pretty, "it" girl of all. he had told you he was over her (when you had asked him if he's sure about another relationship).

you should have known though, he was still in love with her.

were you never enough for him?

your words accidently come out loud, and jungkook shakes his head while looking down.

"no, that's never been the case. i swear, y/n. in fact, you are too good… "

"then why are you breaking up with me? going back to the person who broke your heart, when you came crying to me?"

he closes his eyes at the memory, recalling how a heated argument had left him and his ex fighting, and finally breaking up. he remembers coming straight to your house while crying, too.

and even if he wants to thank you for that again, at the very moment, or at least let out some words of comfort for you, the words that slip out of his tongues leave you, and him silent for a while.

"just so you know, we were both at fault. it wasn't just her, so stop making her the bad bitch here when you were clearly the one who wanted to hook up with me after knowing the whole thing!"

"get out."

hearing you, he just sighs before picking up his jacket and putting on his cap.

"i will, yes. and i'm sorry.", he says.

a not-so humourous laugh leaves your mouth.

"you don't mean it."

he gulps and opens the door to leave your house, looking back at you for the last time.

but you aren't looking his way. because if you do, you are sure you'll break down, once again.

it will be alright, you think.

and after two years, when you meet taehyung, it really gets okay.
