PAIRING 𖦹 choi beomgyu x f!reader

SUMMARY 𖦹 choi beomgyu’s life was relatively simple. he woke up, went to class, met up with you (his best friend since 6th grade) for coffee, helped you manage the school’s radio station, co-hosted a talk show on said radio station with two of his closest friends and repeat. but when the show gets a question that asks whether he’d rather fall in love with a complete stranger or someone he’s known forever, choi beomgyu’s relatively simple life becomes extremely complicated.

you had no reason to be freaking out.

it was just beomgyu, you kept telling yourself. it was just beomgyu picking you up. it was just beomgyu you were taking as your plus one to this stupid event. it was just beomgyu you were dressing for. you had no reason to be freaking out.

except chaeryeong, soobin, and seungmin’s words wouldn’t leave your head.

you did treat him differently. you would drop anything and everything for him if he asked you to. you gave him special treatment when it came to certain things. he really could do no wrong in your eyes.

so as you stare back at your reflection in a black cocktail dress, waiting for him to pick you up, you come to a singular conclusion.

maybe perhaps you did kinda sorta like beomgyu. in a not-just-best-friends type of way. chaeryeong passes your open room on her way to the kitchen and pauses when she sees the distressed look on your face.

“why do you look like someone just ran over a bunny in front of you?”

you turn to her with your eyes shut tight and the heel of your palm pressed to your forehead. you felt like someone just ran over a bunny in front of you.

“chaer, i can't do this.”

her lips form an ‘o’ when she realizes you’re not joking and she rushes to take a seat on your bed. with a nod, she says, “alright, tell me what’s up.”

“i think—“ you swallow thickly, glaring at the ceiling. “i think you were right about beomgyu. i think i like him.”

she gasps exaggeratedly, slapping a hand over her mouth. “i’m sorry, now’s not the time to be dramatic— but when did you realize?”

“right now?” your words come out more like a question than an answer. “i was just— everything just clicked in my head for the first time. i would travel to the edge of the universe for him and the fact that i don’t see anything wrong with that just has me reeling. because all i can think about are the cons and the what ifs. all i see is the multiple ways this can go badly.”

“there are downsides to every decision you can make in any given situation, that’s just how life is, but if you dwell on all the negative, you’ll keep missing the possibility of there being positives. and i know you’ve been friends for so long it feels like there’s so much that’ll be thrown away if you pursue a relationship, but think about his answer to the balance game question and why you agreed with him. you picked it because it resonated with you.” she shrugs, leaning back into her hands.

before you can respond, there’s a knock at your door and you check the time. “shit, he’s already here.”

“it doesn’t have to be awkward if you don’t make it awkward. the only thing that’s changing is the shift from platonic to romantic feelings.” chaeryeong says sternly, grabbing both of your shoulders forcefully.

“okay! okay!”

she lets you go and resumes her search for a snack to get her through her homework. you slip out of the front door, where you find beomgyu waiting in the hall on his phone. he glances up upon hearing the lock click in place and grins at you.

“ready?”

“mhm!”

the convenient part of university events was that they usually held them on campus, meaning you didn’t have to travel far. the inconvenient part was not having to travel far. the short drive from your apartment wasn’t nearly enough time to subtly inspect his outfit. you had to settle for pretending like you were a newborn deer learning to walk in your heels, falling behind slightly.

beomgyu usually dressed well, even when going for a casual look. he knew how to make a laid-back vibe stylish. he wore a plain loose t-shirt under a black suit jacket with black slacks. you hadn’t told him your dress was gonna be black, but the fact that you somehow matched made your pulse race a little faster.

when he notices you’re no longer directly beside him, he slows down, sticking his arm out for you. “you can hold onto me if that’s easier.”

this whole charade seemed to be working out in your favor even more.

a couple minutes later, the two of you arrive at the designated location. there’s a table lined with refreshments and the lights are off, various colored strobe lights painting the room. it was a bit weird to see your peers in an almost club-like setting. the department professors were all huddled in a singular corner with what looked like clipboards— most likely to make note of who went and who didn’t.

you decide to knock that out of the way first, excusing yourself from beomgyu. “i’m gonna go check in with my prof, i’ll be right back.”

you’re gone no more than five minutes, but it’s enough for the dateless girls in your department to flock to beomgyu on the opposite side of the room. there had to be at least six girls standing around him, giggling as if he said the funniest joke in the world. (he probably did, but only you were allowed to laugh at it!)

the ugly feeling brewing in your stomach has you nearly recoiling and running to the restroom, but then he catches your eye and smiles widely, apologizing as he pushes past the girls surrounding him to make his way to you. that churning from before disappears instantaneously.

“are you good to go?” he asks, tilting his head. you give him a thumbs up and he grabs your hand. “great, let’s go get food somewhere.”

fuck. you really liked beomgyu.

Thinks something is wrong and immediately pulls back to check on you, worried.

Will laugh awkwardly when you keep running away from him and his kisses throughout the day, trying to appear unaffected when he’s actually screaming inside.

This goes on until his constant sighing and pouting make you cave in, not being able to stand seeing him moping around anymore.

Giggles when you start peppering kisses all over his face while apologizing, wrapping his arms around your form in a warm embrace.

“Don’t do that again, I genuinely thought you were mad at me.”

Isn’t impressed in the slightest.

Looks you dead in the eyes while blinking slowly just like a cat, waiting for you to come to your senses.

Leans down to try again and when you back away for the second time he will quickly get a hold of your shoulders to keep you in place.

“No, you don’t. Do you think it’s optional? Kiss me!”

Get ready because if you don’t grant his wish, this man won’t kiss you for the next seven business days.

Will literally take a step back to look at you from head to toe, trying to wrap his head around what just happened.

Knows you’re joking so he goes in again expecting you to cut it out but when you deny him his smooches again, he will start whining cutely

If you keep doing it, Changbin, having had enough, will pick you up before starting to plant kisses all over your face until you’re both laughing.

“What do you mean ‘no kisses’? I’m your boyfriend!”

There’s nothing he loves more than your love and affection after a long day so when he comes to get just that and you turn your head to the side, his lips landing on your cheek instead, he will pout.

Gets so frustrated and annoyed when you continue messing with him that something inside him snaps and he starts playing as well.

Will tease you to no end. Pushing up against you just so you can feel his body heat, whispering in your ear, and overall being more touchy-feely than usual.

It won’t last because he will pull away just as fast, leaving you frustrated and wanting more.

“What is that, baby? Speak up, I can’t hear you.”

Pouts and it will take everything in you to not give in to those cute puffy quokka cheeks.

Very displeased but isn’t above whining and complaining until you give him the kisses that rightfully belong to him. He takes his kisses very seriously, okay?

Ends up thinking you are mad and tries his hardest to make it up to you, very desperate to have things return to normal.

Manages to cage you between the counter and his body at some point, annoyed. If you’re not going to kiss him yourself, he will.

For the first time ever, he doesn’t realize that you are playing so avoiding his kisses will have his heart drop down to his stomach.

The sadness in his big, puppy dog eyes will make you forget all about it before attacking him with all the love and affection he deserves.

Be careful because Felix is mischievous so, once his initial sadness fades away, he will get back at you.

Tries a couple of times and when he sees the outcome is the same will scoff and walk away. Seungmin doesn’t need your kisses anyways.

That’s what he tells himself but we both know he is a liar and that’s what he wants the most.

Tries to keep himself busy and avoid you at all costs. He can’t think about his bruised ego or your pretty lips if he isn’t in your presence.

Will roll his eyes and try to appear unaffected once you tell him it was a prank, tuning out your laughter and not meeting your eyes when you sit in his lap to peck his lips repeatedly, grumpy.

“Who was cranky? I wasn’t cranky, I was completely fine.”

He is flabbergasted, looking at you in disbelief like he doesn’t know who you are anymore.

“Did you just pull away from me?!”

Jeongin is used to getting everything he wants from everyone around him, especially you and the boys, so denying him something will cause his brain to short-circuit.

Turns this whole thing around so you’ll end up asking him for kisses, not being satisfied until you beg.

Still won’t kiss you though and let you do all the work, expecting non-stop kisses until he feels better just so you can make it up to him.
