“It’s so pretty here,” you said quietly. Your hands wrapped around a takeaway coffee cup to keep you warm.

The sun was setting over the ocean, Jay had bought you to a viewing point just on top of a small hill that gave you a beautiful view of the coastline. All the weekend sunbathers had gone home, just leaving the two of you and a few couples strolling along the sand for a romantic walk. It was comfortable, being with Jay felt comfortable, and you didn’t want this moment to end any time soon.

Jay looked over at you, his own cup long forgotten, “I’m glad you like it. I found this place a few weeks back and wanted to bring someone here, I’m glad it’s you who I brought.”

You met his gaze, his eyes were soft as he looked at you and there was something there that you couldn’t decipher. Something warm and content. You thought that this was probably the first time you’d seen Jay completely relaxed and happy, as if he didn’t have a single worry in the world.

“Why does this feel like the end?” Jay sighed, he tilted his head at you with a small pout on his lips. If you didn’t have a conscience then you would’ve kissed him right then and there. But you had morals, somewhat.

“It’s not the end, you’ll still see me,” you tried to reassure him. But it sort of was the end, at least for now. It would be hard for you to see Jay without May becoming suspicious, these late night meet ups would have to halt for the time being.

“But it feels like it,” he whined out, tilting his head until it rested on your shoulder softly. “How will I survive without seeing you every day or going on our cute little dates.”

“Dates?” You asked, eyebrow raised teasingly. You know he already considered them as such, his text earlier confirmed that, but it was fun to see him flush pink at your tone.

“Is that not what these are?” He asked, sitting up and turning himself to face you instead. He took your hands in his, lacing your fingers together.

You knew Jay was an affectionate person, he was always finding an excuse to have his hands on you somewhere. But usually he wasn’t this bold, he’d always opt for a careful hand placed on the small of your back or a quick hug at the end of the night. This was the first time he’d been this forward, you liked this side of him.

“I guess so,” you replied, squeezing his hands. “Don’t worry sweetheart, there will be other dates in the future.”

“Promise?” He asked, eyes wide as he met your gaze. You nodded.

“Promise.”

You watched as he brought your hand up to his mouth, pressing his lips gently to the skin there in a soft kiss. His lips lingered there for a second as he took a deep breathe, taking in your scent. A soothing feeling washed over him, just being near you was enough to do that to him.

“Have I ever told you how pretty you are?” He said, lips brushing against your skin with each word. You let out a small laugh, shaking your head in response, “well I’m telling you now, you’re the prettiest person I’ve ever laid my eyes on. And I’ll tell you that every single day from now on.”

“You’re unbelievably cute,” you replied. You tugged on his hands to bring him closer to you, so much so that he was hovering slightly over you. You weren’t necessarily small, but Jay still towered over you. If it wasn’t for the furry black ears poking out of his hair then he might’ve looked intimidating, big emphasis on ‘might’.

“What are you doing?” He asked quietly, voice strained when he noticed how close the two of you were. He was leaning up slightly on his knees, hands now released from yours and placed on either sides of your hips.

“What does it look like?” You smiled, bringing one of your own hands up to brush against his cheek softly. Jay subconsciously leant against your palm, closing his eyes briefly before looking back down at you.

He scanned your face for any sign of hesitancy, “we really shouldn’t do this.” He whispered, but his actions said the opposite as he moved impossibly closer.

You dropped your hand as he brought one of his own to cup the back of your neck, drawing you closer. You could feel his breath over your lips, he was so close you could almost taste him.

“We shouldn’t,” you agreed, never once moving your gaze from his. “But I really want to.”

Jay smiled gently, “I really fucking want to as well.”

And that was when your morals flew out of the window.

Jay drew you closer, finally pressing his lips against yours. Automatically your hands flew back to his cheeks, holding him against you as you moved your lips with him. He was so gentle, as if he was scared that you were about to disappear, but it was everything you’d imagined it would be.

Pulling you tight against him, Jay pushed his tongue past your lips to taste you fully. If he wasn’t already obsessed with you, he definitely was now that he’d gotten his first taste. You were so good for him, letting him take control of the kiss and taking everything that he gave you, even when he tugged on your bottom lip harshly.

“Jay,” you whined into his mouth, pulling back a little to look at him. His eyes were half lidded, a lazy smile on his lips as he tried to chase your own. “We need to stop.”

He pouted in response, bringing his lips down to your neck this time, “but why? Do you not like it?”

He brought his head up from your neck, looking at you with genuine concern that he might’ve gone too far. You almost caved, instead opting to kiss his forehead to soothe him.

“I love kissing you Jay,” you replied, feeling him relax against you. “Trust me, I do. But we really need to get going, it’s late.”

Jay looked up, noticing how the sun had set and a cool wind was starting to swirl around you. It would be cold soon, he needed to get you home before your froze to death outside. He nodded, pressing one last kiss to your lips before standing up and offering you a hand.

You took it, standing up next to him and brushing off your clothes. This time you didn’t let go, intertwining your fingers with his as you set off on the short walk back to your place.

“When will I get to see you again?” He asked softly, swinging your hands between the two of you. Your apartment was nearing and you didn’t want the night to end, you didn’t want to go back to pretending that you weren’t head over heels for this man.

“Soon Jay, I promise,” you turned to face him as you reached your front door. “I’ll text you every day, and I’ll come by in the mornings as much as I can. We’ll work it out.”

He nodded, he trusted your words that you wouldn’t lie to him. Whatever this was between the two of you, he didn’t want it to end any time soon.

Jay leant down, pressing his lips to yours a couple times before pulling away, “I’ll text you when I’m home, ok baby?”

Baby. Baby… Baby.

“Please do,” you managed to breathe out. You kissed him once more, lingering your taste on his lips so he would remember you, “be safe.”

As he walked away, his little ears disappearing into the distance, you realised the weight of what you’d done. Your morals truly were fucked.
