"i thought i told you not to tease me." taehyun sighed, lifting his gaze off his computer and down towards you.

he's right. he has told you several times not to mess with him when he's focused on something important, when he's working, or when he's stressed. right now, he was all of the above. but you couldn't hold back anymore, not when he looked so handsome while he sat on the couch, manspreading like never and furrowing his eyebrows ever so often.

"i'm not doing anything though?" you ask innocently, except there's no innocence in what you're doing. coming out of your room only in under garments and one of his t-shirts, that loosened up on you, but only showed off his muscles on him. sitting down in front of him in a position that "accidentally" exposed your underwear directly to him.

he can only sigh again, rubbing his temple with his fingers, and finally standing up. you wouldn't admit to him how excited that one action made you, but surely he knows it already. he knows you too well.

"you're not being good at all. what am i gonna do with you?" he says while coming up to stand in front of you, inching closer as he lets his arms rest on the couch, both hands right next to your head.

"are you going to punish me?" you mock slightly, casting out a small grin and locking your eyes with him as to taunt him.

"i guess i've been too soft." he starts, moving his hands down and taking your wrists, using them to turn you around and lay you down on the couch with too much ease. "i won't make the same mistake this time."

you could only let out a small gasp of air as he practically pinned you down on the couch effortlessly, hovering on top of you in seconds and staring down at you darkly. you knew your boyfriend was strong, you never doubted his physique and his strength. but he wasn't always this rough with you, he didn't manhandle you lust like this.

you wanted to say something, even do something, but you couldn't move. he took both of your wrists with his one hand and then traced down to your hip with the other one. "you're such a slut." he whispers, kissing down your neck and down to your collarbone, biting softly as he squeezed your wrists tighter when you'd squirm. "but you know how to play me." he purred against your lips as he came face to face with you, dropping his body weight onto you and kissing you. his lips were so soft, plump against yours as he devoured you slowly. his tongue pressed against your bottom lip, making you open your mouth and let him explore it further.

"please—" you breathed out between kisses, the ache between your thighs growing uncontrollably with every movement of his. "shhh. don't worry baby, i'll give it to you soon." he assures, his brows furrowed and the ghost of a smirk painting his face.

"be good for me, yeah?" he inquired, leaving your mouth and lowering himself down until he got to your chest.

after finishing his sentence, he let go of your hands and moved up to stand before the couch, once again staring down at you. except this time, his composure did not look as stern as before. his cheeks were faintly pink and his breathing was sped up, the look he was giving you showing nothing but pure hunger.

"get up."

"fuck, you're so wet." he hissed, the slapping of his skin against yours echoing in the room.

it only took a few motions for taehyun to grab you and manhandle you into the position you're in right now. pressed against the wall, your hands pinned above your head, the grip on them bruising you, one of your legs lifted up by him as he helps you stand up.

"it's too much. please tae—" you gasp out, barely able to mutter out those words as every thrust he lands takes away your breath and very little stability you had.

"you can take it." he chuckles, a choked out moan coming out of him right after, the feeling of his orgasm inching closer.

"i don't know how you're still going— it's been three times." you mutter between whines, your eyes threatening to spill tears.

"i'll never get enough of you." the ruthless man said against your cheek before pressing a messy peck on it, completely opposed to his borderline animalistic pounding and force on you.

"So that's it? This is all you got?" Taehyun asks with disbelief in his eyes and a frown sketched upon his lips.

You swallow and tighten your grip on the bag in your hand—the bag with all the belongings that have been scattered around Taehyun's apartment for the past months. Your belongings.

"We-" you halt your words and look around as if the walls will give you the right words to tell the man you're ending your relationship with today. "We just won't work."

"Why not? Why won't we work?" Taehyun asks with desperation lacing his voice. He takes a step closer to you and you take a step back, making the man look away with embittered eyes and flared nostrils. He frustratedly runs a hand through his dark brown hair and you just watch him, lips sealed because you deep down know you're not ruining just what you have built with him in the past months; you're ruining him. Yourself.

"You are an idol. You have millions of eyes watching you every day, following your every movement. And me... I'm just me, Taehyu-"

"Stop, Yn," Taehyun mumbles, rubbing his face.

"No, Taehyun. I am going to university, I am working, I do everything any other normal person my age would do. But that's not-"

"Yn, please-"

"-what you need. You don't need 'normal', Taehyun. You need someone who will understand and relate to your lifestyle and your struggles. Only someone like that can support you to the fullest. You deserve that and I can't give you tha-"

"Stop calling me that," Taehyun firmly states, dropping his hands from his face and letting them hang limply by his sides.

You frown, a questioning expression in your eyes.

"Don't call me by my full name. Call me Tae. Call me love, baby, everything you called me the past months. Just... just don't call me by my full name, Yn," the boy in front of you asks, his voice cracking as salty tears make his dark eyes start burning.

Your face softens and his words cause your shoulders to slump as you look at the boy who gave you the best six months of your life. The boy with the warmest hugs, softest hands, and most delicate lips. With the darkest eyes, brightest smile, and most contagious laugh. The boy with the biggest heart.

"I don't fit in your life, Tae," you whisper, slowly letting go of the bag in your hand and Taehyun shakes his head.

"Let me be the one to decide that," he replies and starts walking up to you. You take another step back and your back hits the wall. You shake your head before looking up and letting out a shaky sigh. You know you should walk past him and leave his apartment. But as he gets closer to you and you can clearly see the tears glistening in his eyes, you don't want to move. You don't want to run. You look down, not being able to look at him.

"You say you won't be able to understand me, to give me the support I need," Taehyun starts once he halts his steps when the tips of his beat-up converse almost touch your shoes. "But then why are you the first girl who knows about my deepest fears? About my most hidden insecurities and my biggest dreams? Why are you the first girl who has met my closest friends and family?" He mumbles, not bothering to wipe the escaped tear off his cheek. He takes another step forward and you gulp at the close proximity. With his chest now touching yours, you can feel the rapid pace of his heart and you realize just how nervous he is—how scared he is to lose you.

"You say you won't be able to understand or support me, but then why are you the only person who has ever made me feel this understood in my entire life, who has ever made me feel this supported?" He asks and his minty breath fans your lips as he tilts his head while letting his gaze roam your face. "Why, hm?"

You refuse to look up at him, scared you'll break and give in the moment your eyes meet his. But Taehyun doesn't accept your avoidance. He knows you're keeping something from him. He knows you don't want to end your relationship.

Taehyun gently takes your chin in between his thumb and index finger and raises your face to make you look at him.

"Answer me, baby," he softly pleads, desperate eyes searching for yours.

"I'm scared I'm not enough for you, Tae," you finally confess and the walls that were holding back the tears behind your eyes finally break. "I'm not even from here. I am afraid I'll never get accepted into your life. I'm scared you'll realize you need more than me and you'll leave. I need to protect my heart before all of that happens," you mumble, tears now falling from your eyes. Taehyun lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding and slowly shakes his head before pulling you into his body. He places his hand on the back of your head and you lean into his chest as you cry.

"Shh, deep breaths," he whispers as he strokes your hair with one hand while wrapping his other arm around your back. "Everything's going to be okay, pretty girl. I'm here. I'll always be here."

He presses multiple kisses on the top of your head and you slip your hands under his hoodie to embrace his warm body.

"You are more than enough to me. And I will let you know until you believe me. God, Yn, I thought I couldn't breathe anymore just now when you said you were leaving," he mumbles into your hair before closing his eyes and inhaling your sweet scent to calm his heart down.

"You make me feel so grounded and alive at the same time. I've never felt anything like this. Please, give me the chance to show you I can make you feel the same way. Let me show you you belong with me more than anyone. Prove with me that nothing around us matters as long as we love each other."

You slowly look up at him and he softly smiles at you as he cups your face and wipes the tears off your cheeks with his thumbs.

"Love?" You mumble.

"I love you, Yn. I love you so much I think about you day and night. All the nights you listened to my hours of venting, the safe space you created for me in such a short period of time, everything you taught me... God, Yn, I love you so much," he earnestly confesses and your lower lip starts quivering again.

"My God, Tae, you're going to make me start sobbing again," you reply with an embarrassed chuckle, and your voice cracks as tears fall from your eyes again, making Taehyun let out a sweet laugh.

"Just tell me you love me too," he whispers while searching for your eyes.

You stay silent for a few seconds as you let yourself get lost in the galaxy in his eyes before giving a small nod.

"It terrifies me how much I love you."

Taehyun's face softens and an emotional smile colors his tear stained lips when hearing your honest words.

He strokes your cheek with his thumb before leaning in and capturing your lips in between his. Your eyes flutter shut at the soft feeling of his plush lips against your own and you tighten your grip on his waist, pulling him closer if that is even possible.

"My baby," he whispers against your lips, making your heart do a summersault before he places another long kiss on your lips. “I was so scared I’d lose you."

From his point of view you're nothing more than a best friend. He loves you, platonically.

It started all the way back from middle school and you were but a little girl minding her own, quietly fixing your colored pencils in the box where they all belong. Then, all of a sudden, he walked up to you and stood in front of your desk.

He asked if he could borrow your colored pencils and you let him, however, days passed and you haven't gotten your colored pencils back. And days became weeks, months, until finally half a year had passed— Taehyun came up to you by your locker holding a pink box that was surprisingly still intact.

"I might've forgotten to give this back to you," he gave you a small smile, "but I promise they're all in good condition. I took good care of them."

Your lips formed into a pout, closing your locker after use. "I'm surprised you still remembered," you took the box of colored pencils from his hand.

"Eh, it's nothing. But as an apology, I'll buy you lunch? And I promise I only used your colored pencils once. I just forgot about it." He reassured you. And just like that you believed his words.

"Free food, how could I say no to that?"

Those colored pencils became the reason you bonded, the bridge to your ongoing friendship, and possibly will continue until later in your lives. But how come you've been so unsatisfied? You watched him get into several relationships, and as he dated you started to doubt yourself. Are you not enough for him? Why does he not see you the way he sees those girls? What's wrong with you? How can you change the way he sees you?

It's stupid. You're stupid. He changed your point of view and all of sudden your name becomes beautiful when spoken by him. And as you think of the possibilities of alternate realities, you cannot help but wonder, if maybe, just maybe, in a different universe, he would finally choose you. He makes you think of such things. But you couldn't help yourself. How can you not fall in love with him? He's everything you want.

Thud.

The excruciating sound of books falling from a desk snapped you out of your reverie.

And as if the universe was playing with you, he was right there in front of you. Every time you see him, you can't help but smile, and this time is no exception.

"You alright? I was looking everywhere for you and the library was my last resort." Taehyun kneeled down and picked up the books that fell from your table, then he carefully placed them back where they wouldn't get knocked down.

"Yeah, I was just thinking… and I'm a little sleepy."

He frowned, taking a glance at his watch. "The library closes in ten minutes. It's almost nine in the evening. How long have you been studying?"

Damn. Has it been that long? Time felt like it wasn't moving when you were reading and rewriting notes, but then again your mind wandered and eventually you fell asleep. You lift your head to look at him, confusion written across your face.

"I'm not sure. I didn't really look at the time, and got too busy with reading." You stood and gathered your things, placing them back all inside your bag.

Taehyun watched you, the shuffling of your clothes and paper filled the area. And he was right, the library was already empty. The librarian was the only person left aside from you and it looks like she was only waiting for you to leave before closing.

Taehyun took your bag from you and slung it over his shoulder, and before you could complain he shook his head. "You look awfully tired. This is the least I could do for you, so don't complain." He smiled.

These little things he does for you is one of the many things why you like him. Although, some people will tell you that it's the bare minimum. And honestly? You don't really care what they say because it's from him— Kang Taehyun. You wouldn't get affected if he were just some other dude trying to hit on you.

And watching him drive you home at this hour only made it difficult for you to control your feelings. He looked so… boyfriend— for the lack of a better term.

And as the car came to a stop by the red light, the dim glow of the street lamp delicately framed his face— you couldn't help but stare. His fair skin was visible only slightly from the opened collar of his buttoned shirt, his cardigan was uneven though you find it cute. Delicate strands of silver toppled over his forehead, his dark brows knitted together in deep concentration.

And it got you thinking, but you wouldn't risk it. You're not going to ruin the friendship you have for the past few years because of your silly little feelings for him, you'd rather have him stay with you like this than watch him distance himself away from you.

From your point of view he's everything you want. You love him so, so much. Your little crush on him from middle school wasn't just puppy love.

"What's going on in that pretty head of yours?" Yeonjun's lips curl into a grin, extending his index finger to poke your cheek.

You blink once, twice and turn to glance at him, he was leaning against your kitchen counter and had his arms crossed over his chest. You mirror his grin, almost forgetting how contagious his smiles tend to be.

"A lot," you pour the seasoning packet one by one, then stirring the water that was almost at a boiling point. "It's been a rough week for me. But to be frank, this has been the roughest week I've gone through."

Yeonjun tilts his head, his once beaming expression shifts into a deep frown. His thick brows curved and it almost made you laugh at how expressive they can be.

"There's just so much going on lately. I didn't expect it to turn out that way, I guess the universe is playing games with me." You watch Yeonjun pour the dried seasoning onto the pot, moving slightly to give him some space to reach the stove. "You don't mind if I talk about it?"

He shakes his head, "I don't mind at all."

You nod and carefully put the noodles in the pot and Yeonjun follows suit, helping you with the remaining. "It's about Taehyun. He's been acting strange and recently I saw him with his ex," you pause to take a look at him, "I don't know but I felt a painful ache in my chest that time."

Yeonjun scoffs, "Typically the people who stayed friends with their exes still have lingering feelings."

"You're not making this any better, jjunie."

His already pouty lips form into a pout, his gaze avoiding yours at any given time. He looks like a puppy and your frown has turned into a small smile. You couldn't stay mad at him, he's too adorable for his own good.

"You should ask him. It might possibly be a misunderstanding." Yeonjun adds, his gaze trails down to the pot of ramen. He reaches for the chopsticks near you to stir the cooking noodles. "It's better than second guessing everything he does."

"I guess you're right." You turned off the stove and grabbed the pot holders. "Can you arrange the bowls and utensils for me? I'll come back quickly and help you once I put this on the table."

Yeonjun gave you a nod as you walked out of the kitchen, and once you were nowhere to be seen he began to search for the bowls.

The chances are low and it hasn't changed since then. He knew that he didn't have any chance, yet a part of him hoped that perhaps even an ounce of you liked him. It was difficult to try and get your attention when you only had eyes for him. It was laughable— his actions, now that he looks back at them, was truly ridiculous.

He knew. Oh, but he knew, it's wiser to let you go, even if it means pain. But why does he want to be called yours even just for a minute? He wants to know what it feels like to be the man you love. It wasn't wrong to long for someone— and maybe, just maybe, he'd get to hold your hand in another universe.

"Yeonjun? Did you find them?" You quietly walk into the kitchen, although your effort was in vain as he was still startled by your voice.

"Uh, yeah, I got them here. I'll fetch the utensils." He shouldn't have turned because the moment his gaze landed on you, he was back to square one.

Slowly, you step out of your room, finding the man you've been dreading to see sitting on your couch. The cap he was wearing was now long discarded, his silver strands of hair sticking up in every direction— he looks oddly adorable, and comforting too.

You take a step forward, the wooden floorboards creak underneath your feet. You have your gaze on your feet but as you lift your head, you notice that he was already looking at you. Something in your chest leaped.

"Taehyun," you mutter as you stand still, your fingers playing with the hem of your shirt.

He went to stand up and walk over to you, leaving a small space between you. The urge to wrap his arms around you is strong— to embrace you, and tell you words that he's been wanting to say. The words that were left unspoken throughout the years of your friendship. It hasn't been that long, yet he missed you.

"You can speak now, you know," you glance up at him, smiling softly to ease the tension that was slowly rising. You felt the need to reassure him that it's okay and that you'll listen, but those words were the ones that left you.

He couldn't get himself to look at you. He wasn't sure why he couldn't look you in your eyes— it's ridiculous because you've always been the one to shy away from him, afraid that you'll get caught by his gaze. And yet, it's him that's avoiding creating any sort of eye contact with you now.

Taehyun clears his throat. His hand travels down to the fabric of his pants, nervously bunching them up in his fist. His heart feels like it could burst through his chest at any moment. "Am I too late to say that I like you?"

For a moment, there was silence. But you quickly answer him. "Almost. But you managed to catch up before the deadline."

His lips form into a small smile. Your lighthearted words lessened the violent thumping of his heart, his shoulders relaxing not realizing how tense he was.

"When did you start liking me?" You want to continue asking him and flood him with more questions, but you hold yourself back.

"Remember when I asked you if I could borrow your colored pencils? I only borrowed it to keep it to myself for a while." Taehyun replies; his voice is suddenly quiet, soft, and it threw you off a bit. "I didn't return it for half a year because I thought it would make you remember me. I thought that maybe you'll associate the colored pencils with me every time you think about it. I started liking you even before that, but that was my only way of turning your attention towards me."

"...and it worked." your reply came with a light laugh, your gaze not leaving his face. His reddening cheeks began to bloom, the sort of red that brings champagne roses to the imagination.

Taehyun had to pause. His eyes wide from your words, he couldn't believe what he just heard. The plan he put together as a thirteen year old worked? That's not what he was expecting. His lips curl into a much wider smile. And oh, his smile is one of happiness growing, much as a spring flower opens. You could see how it came from deep inside to light his eyes and spread into every part of him.

"Personally hearing it from you hits way more different than seeing the signs. I refused to believe that you like me like that, I kept thinking to myself that it's platonic."

You tilt your head to the side, brows furrowed in confusion. "But what I'm confused about is your past relationships. If you liked me for that long then what about them?"

"I didn't date them. Who told you that I did?"

You look at him with your lips slightly ajar, as if he just said something so unbelievable. "Huh? But Beomgyu told me that you had several exes. Who's Sooyoung then?"

Taehyun had to stifle a laugh. "She's my cousin. During the graduation ball she pulled me away from you guys, right? Her friend was too shy to ask me to dance and I had to dance with her friend or else I wouldn't be here right now." He leans his shoulder against the nearest wall, now watching your face contort from different kinds of emotions. It felt like he was watching a movie from your face alone.

"Really? But I didn't really see that much because the lights were too dim."

Taehyun hums, "are you jealous?"

You roll your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest. "Of course I am. What person would want to see their crush with someone else. The karaoke one you posted? I'll be honest I almost cried when I saw that."

"Well, to explain that she asked me to celebrate with her because her boyfriend proposed to her. I didn't get to inform you about it and our karaoke Sunday was canceled because of it, which I deeply apologize for not letting you know."

You let his words sink in silence, lowering your gaze from his face to stare at the floor. Some of the things were unclear to you and others you assumed, filling in the blank space to create a possible scenario— which only hurt yourself in the process. The misunderstandings mostly came from you and Beomgyu now that you have thought about it.

You open your arms wide enough to envelope him with your warmth and in a heartbeat, his arms carefully wrapping around you. He was afraid that he'd squeeze you, leave you breathless from how tight his arms are around you. But you beg to differ. There is the embrace of gentle arms that still gives the space to breathe; then there is the hug of strong arms that tells everything that you are— body, brain, and soul— that they are with you. And he happens to be both.

He buried his face in the crook of your neck, catching a whiff of the gentle scent of vanilla from your shampoo. It was oddly comforting.

"I'll court you. I want to make it up to you and shower you with the love you deserve." His voice was below a whisper, however from how close you were it was clear enough for you to hear. "All the wasted days, months, even years. I regret not telling you the truth years ago. But now I'm not letting you go, I refuse to let anyone steal you away from me."

"You better. I won't just let you in that easily," you pout. "I can still wait."

Taehyun smiles, you could feel his lips curl against your skin. "Wait until I'll put a ring on your finger, future Mrs. Kang."

Taehyun peeked at the screen of your phone in your hands, a teasing smile forming on his face. "Why are you on your phone when I'm right in front of you?"

"I, uhh, I'm sorry just got a little nervous," you brought your phone down on the table, your fingers nervously tapping the glass in silence. After a minute of thinking you lift your gaze up to look at him. "How have you been?"

He raised an eyebrow, his smile contorting into a smirk. "You're so awkward all of a sudden. We just turned official and you suddenly don't know what to say."

"Who wouldn't? I've never been in a relationship before so everything's new to me," you let out a sigh, your lips forming into a pout. "It's… I don't know but it feels a bit more different than the platonic relationship we had. It feels more… uh, personal? It's hard to explain."

"Ah, I understand what you mean, don't worry," Taehyun says with a warm smile.

"Do you really? You seem very chill about this. It's only been a day since we're a thing but I changed so much already. What's love doing to me?" You grab on to his sleeve from across the table, gently pulling it to put his attention on you. "What are you doing to me?"

Taehyun leans forward until he's inches away from your face, he's so close that you stopped breathing. "I should be the one asking that."

He pressed a chaste kiss on the corner of your lips, purposefully missing your lips to tease you. "But now I can freely do this, and you can, too."

You blink once and avoid his gaze, licking your lips out of habit. Your lips felt like it was tingling just because of the little peck he gave you. "I think we should— uh, should continue so we can…"

Taehyun let out a laugh, opening one of your books to the page you were reading earlier.

"Why are you laughing?" You ask him, you could feel your cheeks warm up as the blood came rushing to your face from embarrassment.

He shakes his head, grabbing one of your pens and begins to write the problems you don't understand. "Nothing. I'm just really happy to be with you," he lifts his gaze to look at you, "I'm so glad that you're here."

And this time, you pout at him. "You're so cheesy. Stop that before I kiss you— ah, I mean…"

"You would? If that's the case then I should continue."

"Kang Taehyun, I need to pass this exam. I'll kiss you later once we're finished." You playfully shoved him away from you, which earned a chuckle from him.
