My hobbies include perfume making and I have THOUGHTS on this excellent sleuthing on Miles's perfume.
Fleur de Peau is peppery on top, with ambrette musk (seed musk instead of animal musk like ambergris or another traditional ingredient) + iris/rose middle notes (think chanel no 5) - so a less sweet floral, dries down to the musk/woodsy base. This is a unisex perfume, strong, and cool.
INTERESTINGLY Diptyque also makes a perfume that Alex wore in the past, Ombre Dans L'eau. Ignore the other makeup in the picture below. Per Alexa Chung: "My ex-boyfriend introduced me to Diptyque fragrances. He used to wear this one and I was always knicking it."
Ombre Dans L'eau is not unisex. It's feminine: fruity like blackcurrants, sparkling with grapefruit, green wood, dries to a sweet woodsy floral. Think crushed roses, green leaves, ripe berries. I've posted about this before, but I wear this perfume.

I wonder if the brand came to Alex from Miles or vice versa. Either way, those are some nice-smelling lads.
Last night I spent searching for this fucking fragrance
And I'm 80% sure found it.
So, we're sure about the brand and the type of fragrance.
This is Eau de parfum by Diptyque. (This is actually important because as I was told, eau de toilette and eau de parfum actually smell different). The perfume water has a special glass. It is made of glass with darkened edges, exactly the same as the one we see in the video.

and now my favorite part, the tables! So, the perfume waters catalog contains 18 fragrances. I made a table describing the external characteristics of the flacons and tried to compare them with what we see. Also we see the label from the back side and by the white spots we can determine what kind of fragrance it is.

So, the contenders from 18 candidates
Tam Dao
Fleur de Peau
Do Son
Philosykos
Eau de Minthé
and now we'll just put the pictures on top of each other until we get a match. and here is it

FLEUR DE PEAU.
the first 5 screenshots, I was sure that Tam Dao was more suitable there, but after few more attempts the only one, which suited at every picture was this.
I don't claim to be right, but it's been a while since anything fun has happened. Let's at least look for some perfume.
these dramatic sillies really decided to create a title track performance starring the perpetual theatre kid as a slutty juliet in a cavaliers jersey blowing the softest kiss to an infatuated romeo in an elegant kimono that wouldn't avert his gaze from her for anything contained in that venue amidst a majestic chiaroscuro effect that transcended all the aspects of baroque art. fucking cleveland

Deep Red (1975) dir. Dario Argento
Today I discovered that Alex Turner was not* in a relationship both times that TLSP projects started.

Timelines:
Jan 2007 - Alex and Johanna Bennett break up
Feb - Mar 2007 - AM on tour with The Liitle Flames. Alex and Miles write together. (* Nb: they had written some songs at the end of 2006 too so technically I suppose he was in a relationship then but hardly saw her)
Apr 2007 and Jul 2007 - TAOTU demos done.
6-8 Jul 2007 - T in the Park. Alex and Alexa meet but she already has a boyfriend.
Aug 2007 - TAOTU recorded in France.
Oct 2007 - Q Awards. Alex and Alexa officially together for the first time.
Apr 2008 - TAOTU released.

End Jan 2014 - Alex and Arielle break up.
11-20 Apr 2014 - Alex and Miles go on a road trip to Coachella and listen to old TAOTU songs on the way. Miracle Aligner first strummed.
Rest of 2014 - Alex and Miles - Power Couple Era
Dec 2014 - Aviation written.
Mar 2015 - Alex and Taylor get together.
Summer 2015 - EYCTE recorded in Malibu.
April 2016 - EYCTE released.
This is all just a very long winded way of saying what I said at the beginning. However I thought the timeline made the history clearer (well it does for me). I’d never realised that Alex and Alexa weren’t properly together when TAOTU was recorded in France during that idyllic summer…
Preparing for spooky season with some Darkplace and gotta say, this is not the worst writing advice.

Hey Milex Truthers, I want your thoughts
Is it possible Louise and Alex are over?
Looking at Taylor's Instagram, yesterday, 9/22 she posted "today is sourpuss Sunday." Aka heartbreak anniversary.
Louise posted...nothing. it was the anniversary of her launch, right? She's always posted something related to Alex on that day before.
Also, today is Bisexual Visibility Day. Just saying. Could our boys be in Ibiza celebrating the end of a PR relationship?
Maybe I'm being too shippy, but I like looking at patterns. Am I reading too much into this?
hey, i'm sorry to hear you have covid. i hope you feel better soon! here are some music asks for you. take good care ✨🌹
16. Do you choose particular albums depending on the mood?
19. A song you like with a color in the title?
20. A song you like with a number in the title?
21. A song that needs to play loud?
Thank you for the asks! It's been a fun way to spend covid Sunday, and I love reading everyone's responses to their ask box too. 💖
16. Yes to picking albums based on the mood! I don't know if anyone else here ever read Phonogram by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie, but it's an amazing comic about how music is magic and I 100% agree with that. (Kieron is a writer/dj and posts his writing playlists on Spotify and I cannot recommend them highly enough!)

I love album listening, and got a turntable a few years back because it keeps me from diving into other tracks like I do on Spotify (and sounds better!) I love a playlist, but albums are how I really get to know an artist, and figure out how to use their magic to help me feel my way through (or around) any mood. Message me a mood and I will send you an album. 😁
19. There so many! I picked red last time, so let's go with green. My queer heart loves Arlo Parks:
20. I picked a Lucinda Williams 2 Kool to Be 4-gotten last time, so my heart only has one other obvious choice: Alex and Miles, shyly gazing at each other on stage, playing 505. Like my heart can barely handle them.
21. Please turn up the volume for JOE STRUMMER & THE MESCALEROS! Do I play this when I'm mad about work? hells yes. 💥
3 5 6 10 19 20 28 and 30 for the music asks! 🩷
Oh my goodness so many. Buckle up. 😁
3. Favorite songs at the moment:
5. Top 3 songs:
6. 3 favorite genres:
Indie rock (I'm an old hipster)
60s/70s rock and pop (child of a dj)
Alternative Americana (grew up in the US Midwest birrthplace of alt country. Songs about drinking, cheating, poverty, & loss- not xenophobia and trucks. Fuck that shit)
10. Most underrated musician: um, Miles Kane. Poor guy does not get the credit he deserves. 🩷💜🩵
19. Color: Elvis Costello. Tho Fiona Apple's Red Red Red is a close second.
20. Number: Lucinda Williams. This is what country music SHOULD sound like.
28: shuffle: ooh Clairo! Love her.
30. Song from my favorite band. Ok, this is hard. Last year, Arctic Monkeys was my favorite band (and Batphone, my favorite song) but in the past 10 years, it’s Pulp. Please listen to Razzmatazz if you've already heard Common People. It's really one of their best songs: observant, acidic, and sort of dancing thru the desperation:
2, 9, and 14 for the music ask!
i’m so sorry to hear you’re ill with covid 💔 i’m thinking of you and sending all the healing vibes your way! look after yourself 💖
Oooh good questions!
2) One band I always come back to: Wilco. Wilco not only made one of my favorite albums of all time, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but have played with so many genres. If you are a lyrics person (like me), you'll find songs for every mood. And like my other fav, Arctic Monkeys, they still make good music decades after forming and are amazing live. In my opinion Jeff Tweedy is America's George Harrison. My "get to know Wilco" playlist is below!
9: Favorite concert: Pulp in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom this month. Their first show of the US tour and omg: the fans were amazing, the band was tight, Jarvis Cocker was at his wiggly, seductive best, and the joy in the room was palpable. We danced so hard the floor was bouncing. I thought I'd never see Pulp since I got into the band in 2013...a year after they played their goodbye show. Highly recommend watching Pulp: A Film about Life Death, and Supermarkets.

14: Have you met any of your favorite bands? No, and I'm so shy I don't know if I could handle it without being a blushing mess. 🤭
I have covid and am bored, let's play the ask game!

The Last of Sheila (1973) dir. Herbert Ross
Looks like another of Alex Turner's costumes touring during The Car Era.
Dressing as Alain Delon playing the Talented Mr. Tom Ripley is an apt choice:

On seeing Pulp's 555th show
I spent Friday the 13th 2024 at the enormous, ornate Kings Theater in Brooklyn, worshipping at the altar of Pulp. Miraculously, I was super close, center left stage, 3 people deep from the boundary rail. The crowd was not as engaged as Chicago, and the fans nowhere near as chatty. But to be eye-contact close to Jarvis Cocker? SWOON-WORTHY.
The set has been pretty similar across the tour, but I got two happy surprises. One was incorporating OU into the set! My original copy of Pulp Intro on vinyl (in all its 1993 glory including a fanclub postcard) is one of my favorite possessions. OU is a really fun pre His n Hers track. And honestly getting that + Razzmatazz + Like a Friend hit my sweet spot.
Second surprise was the debut of another new song, Got to Have Love. I didn't try to record it because my phone sucks and I wanted to be in the moment. It was good, and moreover it was fun to see the band working through new things. Being close to the stage allowed me to see how the core band members interact. It was a joy to see Mark, Candida, Nick, and Jarvis playing off each other. The additional touring members really added a lot to the sound. You could tell that everyone on stage wanted to be there and was having fun. I'm looking forward to listening to the other new tracks, but between this and Spike Island I'm hopeful we have a new album and more touring on the way.
The performance was electric, and seeing Jarvis dancing and commanding the room in all his awkward, graceful, sleazy, seductive glory was everything. He may be 61 years old today, but he hasn't lost a beat. I got actual chills during Hardcore. He murdered that song. Britpop = dead (not that Pulp ever was Britpop to me, as a fan who found the band later and grew up in a part of the US that barely heard Blur on the radio!)
This video isn't great quality, but please enjoy this snippet of I Spy. It gives you a sense of how Jarvis interacts with the crowd and how dangerous Pulp feels compared to its peers. It was magical.
Fandom wish list: a visual index of sharing clothes, by era.
Their clothes swaps always remind me of this song by Coutney Barnett, Anonymous Club:
Come round to mine
We can swap clothes and drink wine all night
Courtney is queer. When I was coming to terms with my own queerness, I found this line to be about the most romantic thing I could think of. Maybe that's one of the reasons I get so much pleasure out of Milex.

Inspired by Alex wearing that tracksuit again. My first ever attempt at angst. See how many EYCTE outfits you can spot! Kudos and comments much appreciated if you do give it a read 🥰

Oooh I love Miles' facial expressions here. He feels the squeeze, he sees Al in profile and just melts a little with the tiniest smirk. HELLO YOU
i just want to bring everyone's attention to the fact that alex puts his hand on miles's thigh to get the support to turn his chair x
If you have Spotify reblog this and tag what your number one song on your “on repeat” playlist is.

So I'm at the Brooklyn Museum and enjoying this extremely homoerotic sculpture Fallen Angels (1893) the other day.
There's so much going on in this sexy tangle. How can you tell they are fallen, you ask?
Snakes in their hair.

At first I'm all, woah, why don't they all have wings like our finger-biting friend in the first photo?
But they do. The women have BAT WINGS like sexy little vampire succubi. Look at how her wing is folded under her back.

But what I love most about this is how the artist, Salvatore Albano, is literally sculpting the pulsing veins on our top angel's hip. And our finger-biting bottom's wing primary feathers are literally caressing the top's crotch.

I used to work in museums and this is among the horniest artworks I've ever seen. While past me would have been asking all the real questions like: Who was this made for? Where was it displayed? Why the weird gender differences with the wings?
Present me just wants to figure out how to put this sculpture in a gay romance story. My queer old heart will not accept less. 🤭
