riddle is from a noble family. he lives with his mother whom teaches him how to become a strict and firm count of their country. he’s craved the life of doing whatever he wanted ever since he was little, so why can’t he just stand up to his mother?

riddle wants a free lifestyle where he’s free to make his own choices, it’s the only thing he’s ever wanted. he hates the pressure he gets from his mom to become the count of his homeland, he doesn’t want to rule over everyone so fiercely that they grow fear at the sound of his name. he wants friendships that last lifetimes, and he wants to face hardships like normal civilians do, and he wants to experience everything else gets to. he doesn’t know how the real world works since he’s been locked in his home since his early ages and doesn’t even know how much a loaf of bread costs!

riddle has only ever had two friends in his entire life, two servants that serve in his home. Trey and Cater, two very different individuals but the none the less his closest friends. 

you’re so kind. you’ve done nothing but help him ever since he met you and he just wants ti return the favor to you! he may not know how to cook but he sure can try, he doesn’t know how to tend to animals but it’s never too late to learn! he owes you a lot for hiding him in your home, but he knows his mother will come looking for him, and when she does, he’ll have no choice but to return with her.

☓ 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭

trey works for riddle’s family to support his family. he doesn’t mind the work as long as it’s good pay and that he’s still able to return home everyday. his family isn’t necessarily poor, but right now they’re in the dumps. his family owns a bakery that is very popular amongst the village but, taxes are rising and they missed their last month loan payment and the next one is coming way too soon. 

his job allows him to return home everyday at 10 but he has to come back in the morning at 5. his tasks include, cooking, cleaning the house, washing the clothes, and going to the local market to get ingredients. trey lives in the peasant region of town and it’s also the location of his family’s bakery. it’s tiring for him to walk to and from work everyday, which takes approximately 3 hours by walking. riddle doesn’t live in the village, his home is closer to the palace of rose which is terribly far from trey’s home. trey often teaches riddle the way of a commoner so he has so insight on how the real world is. trey has gotten in trouble from bringing desserts from his home to give to riddle.

trey relates to cater a lot, not by personality, but by hardships. cater and trey live in the same neighborhood so they walk to work together. cater always suggest to sneak onto a traveling cart but trey always refused.

you’re so sweet to him, giving a discount on vegetables when you know he can’t afford everything he’s paying for, an about ngel from the seven above. he’s does everything he can to make sure you don’t have a lot on your plate, if you get stressed he’s gonna be there to help you through it all, just be dependent on him and only him, okay?

☓ 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭

cater.. has a odd relationship with his sisters. yes, without a doubt he loves them to death, but like everyone else he needs a break. he feels the need to break away from his home life to have fun and live life to the fullest. his sisters boss him around at home a lot so he’s used to be given orders at his job. at the age of 14 he got roped into the roseheart’s household and decided to make money so he can move out and be on his own.

he has a mischievous streak in him, not that it’s bad enough to get him into extreme trouble, but he has stolen few things for himself, but can you really blame him? it’s hard to live in poverty! he’s thought about selling one or two things from the roseheart’s household, but trey kept him in check. it may not seem like he does a lot while on duty, but he’s pretty helpful! his usual jobs consists of hanging the wet clothes outside, sweeping around the house, making the beds, fetching water from their backyard water well, and welcoming guests if any drop in. cater is a person who really enjoys the thought of being with someone and growing old with them, it’s an untold dream of his that he thinks his sisters put that idea upon him. most of the time he asks to spend the night in a spare room so he doesn’t have to return home.

in cater’s eyes, riddle is missing out. he doesn’t experience fun at all with his strict mom breathing down his neck. he tries his best to make riddle enjoy himself like trying a dessert even he doesn’t like them himself. it was caters idea for trey to bring a dessert from his bakery for riddle, but when his mom found out, trey took the blame.

so cute! you’re absolutely adorable in your little outfit, with your cute little barn animals! everything you do is just adorable, he can’t help himself! oh, how he hates it when you get the least bit frustrated, stress isn’t a good look on you and it’s not a good time to try it out. cater came up with a marvelous idea to move in with you! the money he’s making by working with riddle’s family can be used for you guys to split the tax pay! don’t worry, cay-cay’s got your back!

☓ 𝐝𝐞𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫

deuce loves his mom, he loves her so much he took got a job at a bar in the village to help make money. his mom did so much like dealing with his past rebellious self and raising him. to him, that’s a lot. he owes her his life an more and he’s willingly to do all that to make her happy. 

as embarrassing as it is, deuce has to admit that he was a delinquent as a teenager. he’d often get into fights with the kids in the neighborhood, he’d steal food off the stalls, an he’d give everyone plus his mom an attitude. he doesn’t like to remember that time in his life so he either accidentally punched someone or blushes red when someone mentions it. his job as a waiter gets kinda uncomfortable. it’s hard to kick people out when they’re drunk so he always has to carry them and throw them out the pub. some of the people there are men complaining about their wives or merchants who had a bad selling day. before he gets home at midnight he makes sure to wash himself with any water he can find so he doesn’t reek that badly of liquor. 

deuce gets along with the blacksmith’s son, ace, he really does! but there are times where his patience is tested and he can’t help but want to punch him in the face. deuce is often seen tossing ace out of the bar when he tries to snab a glass of rum.

wow.. aren’t you ethereal.. the day you stepped into the pub he thought he could see heaven’s light reflecting behind you. your voice sounded like a beautiful choir from the church. when he realizes that you lived in town, he internally smacked himself for not seeing you sooner. oh, and maybe it’s best he works at a bar. he can slip an unknown substance into your drink to make you feel just a wee bit woozy.

☓ 𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡'𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐧

ace isn’t lazy but he doesn’t really do much. all he does is hangout in the front of shop while his dad works. he only ever actually does his job if there’s an order that catches his attention like a sword or a piece of knight-armor. 

kinda like cater, ace has a mischievous streak and it actually gets him in big trouble. his snarky mouth doesn’t help him in situations like these. ace had a girlfriend that he bought many gifts for, but he purchased the gifts with money he didn’t have so he’s in immense debt. did I forget to mention his girlfriend left him to die in debt? no? okay. his dad started bringing him to work so he can pay off the money he owes, but what’s the point if won’t even lift a finger to work if he doesn’t feel like it? he often mocks the knights, they’re lazy men who only want security within the kingdom if a war breaks out. but, that’s what he wanted too, an easy going life of only ever needing to work during emergencies and the other times he’s free to stand around while ‘guarding the gates to the kingdom’. now that sounded great.

deuce is a strong dude, if he’s able to throw ace out of the bar with his bare hands when ever he tries to steal a drink then that’s impressive. he has to admit though, deuce can be an idiot sometimes, but hey, so is he.

he doesn’t want to love again, he doesn’t want to be toyed with for a second time, he doesn’t want his heart to break once more. you made him feel loved, way more than his ex ever did, and he doesn’t want that feeling to go away, it feels nice to be important to someone. don’t ever visit him at work, he’ll make use of his opportunity and hit you upside the head and bring you to his basement.

COMMENTS: i was working on this for a while and ultimately decided to just publish all of them together since i finished them all!! i've been yearning for azul to read to me because im really tired so here we are. also hey epel you want to read to me in your country accent hahah???? hahahaa.a......asking for a friend lol......................haha.

Heartslabyul

Riddle reads it all perfectly. I don’t know what you were expecting, but his mother probably drilled reading out loud into his head. Also, he’s amazing at public speaking and probably didn’t fumble once. He’ll be as rigid as a board so if you want to rest your head on him good luck.

Trey is much more entertaining. He makes funny voices to go along with the characters and sometimes he’ll throw in hand gestures. He’ll let you rest your head on his shoulder and snuggle as close to him as you want. He doesn’t stumble either, but it’s because he’s so used to reading bedtime stories to his siblings.

Cater thinks he’s got it but he ends up stumbling occasionally. He’s not horrible, but you can see his face turning pink when he tries to pronounce something and fails. He’ll also let you rest on his shoulder, but his voice is so nice to listen to that you might fall asleep (he wouldn’t mind.)

Deuce is so precious but there’s no way he’d be able to read out loud. He’s shaking at the mere mention of it, even though it’s only you. His face is beet red after a few seconds, the occasion “uh-” or “um-” breaking the sentences. He’ll get even more nervous if you lay your head on his shoulder, sweating nervously at your close proximity and mind blanking. Was he reading? What book is this? is it upside down? Help!

Ace is another one who thinks he’s got it. He does moderately okay, except for the fact that whenever he doesn’t know how to pronounce a word he purposefully says it in the most incorrect way possible. He’ll also make funny voices, but his are so outlandish and disturbing that your laughter will slowly turn into crying. Don’t rest your head on his shoulder, he’ll do the opposite of Deuce and tease the heck out of you.

Savanaclaw

Leona refuses. If you beg, he may read you one sentence. It’s just not worth it to him, plus he knows you’re trying to embarrass him. You could read to him though, he says, because your voice is soothing. He’ll keep going until you’re so flustered you stop bothering him.

Ruggie is going to tease you. There’s no getting around it. He’ll ask if you want him to read you bedtime stories, but the second you pull out a snack for you two to share he’s sitting down and grabbing the book. He insists that you feed him, since he can’t possibly eat the food when he’s holding the book, and uses the break you two take to eat together to add commentary to the stories. It’s very much a “character a was so stupid what was that” discussion.

Jack is really sweet, so he’d agree immediately. Quietly mumbles to himself under his breath when he doesn’t know how to pronounce a word because he doesn’t want to disturb you by asking what it means. If you end up falling asleep he’s going to wake you up as gently as possible, and now he’s concerned about your sleep schedule.

Octavinelle

Azul will not read to you for free unless it’s lesson materials. Lucky for you, you two regularly study together. He’s going to turn bright red if he messes up a single word, so be patient with him if he suddenly goes quiet. He’d prefer if you read some parts to him too, and may wordlessly push the book towards you if that’s the case. Thankfully, he rarely messes up so you won’t have to deal with your study buddy running out of the Lounge.

Jade wouldn’t mess it up. Ever. It makes you wonder if there’s anything this man can’t do (besides handle heights during flight lessons, not take a picture of every mushroom he sees, etc.) He’ll be flattered by your praise, brushing you off with his normal demeanor. He will let you rest on his shoulder, and if he likes you enough he’ll rest on you as well.

Floyd is almost impossible to make read. If you ask him that at all, he’s likely to throw the book and say he doesn’t want to if he’s in a sour mood. If you catch him in a good mood, he’ll refuse if he thinks it’s not interesting. You have to find the right book and get him on the right day, and even then you wouldn’t be able to rest on his shoulder because he’d squeal and squeeze the heck out of you.

Scarabia

Kalim would be wonderful at reading aloud. He has a nice voice and is naturally entertaining, so you can count on character voices and hand gestures. He’ll look up from the book sometimes to see if you’re enjoying it. He’d totally let you rest on his shoulder too, clacking it up to you just being tired and needing a break from everything. He’s happy to be your sanctuary!

Jamil also wouldn’t mess up a single word. His voice is so nice too, if you fall asleep I wouldn’t blame you. He’ll let you rest on his shoulder, but he acts like you’re not even there. He’s focused on the reading while subconsciously acknowledging your presence, which is nothing new to you.

Pomfiore

Vil doesn’t know why you want to hear him read a story of all things, but he will not refuse. He reads a bit slowly, but his voice makes every word sound beautiful. You suppose it’s to be expected, since Vil constantly conducts himself with pure beauty in mind. He’ll let you rest on his shoulder for a bit, but will wake you up if you fall asleep.

Rook would much rather listen to you read, but who is he to deny your request! The words that fly from his mouth are nothing short of dramatic. He makes everything sound like poetry, and it’s like the writing is swirling around you like a tornado. It’s amazing how Rook can see the beauty in everything, and share that view with you just by speaking.

Epel immediately thinks about Vil and what he told Epel to do about his accent. Epel tries his best to tone it down, and he really doesn't want to get yelled at by Vil again over reading something to you. But when you confess that the entire reason you want Epel to read to you is so you can hear his accent, he flushes. Fine, he thinks, he’ll do it for you. And he does. Hesitantly at first, but slowly getting more confident, he slips into the sound of his voice that says apples and strength and hard work, instead of using the one forced upon him by a man who wanted to turn him into something he didn’t want to be.

Ignihyde

Idia is going to have a heart attack. He’ll type the story to you in a text to speech thingy if you want to hear it so bad! Idia lovers already knew how this one was going to turn out…you are not getting him to read out loud. And if, on the off chance, you did, he’d throw the book and hide away in his room for weeks if he got one word wrong.

Ortho is a sweetheart and would read to you without hesitation. Well, maybe with a little bit of hesitation because he doesn’t quite understand why you want him to read it out loud. Once you explain your reasoning, no matter whether it's logical or emotional, Ortho will nod in understanding and begin reading. It’s weirdly soothing, while also being a bit unnerving because he doesn’t mess up a single word. He won’t let you rest on his shoulder though, because he knows it’ll be uncomfortable and you may get a neck cramp!

Diasomnia

Malleus takes your request seriously. You want him to read to you? He’s visiting late as per usual, so he might as well help you to bed, right? He tucks you in and pats your head, making sure Grim is comfortable too. Then he stands right above you and begins to read, his voice so monotone you'd think you were a lecture. It’s not boring, it’s quite the opposite, and both you and Grim sleep very well because of it.

Lilia is used to reading bedtime stories since he’s adopted like three children, so he’s got the funny voices and hand gestures down. If you want to rest on him for a little while, he’ll rest you. If you’re good he may even give you One (1) Single Headpat. But only if you listen to his story all the way through and don’t fall asleep!

Sebek loves to read. He thinks you made the right choice, coming to someone like him to read you something. His voice is very intense as he’s reading, proof of how focused he is on the material. He doesn’t mess up once, and his tone is as dynamic as the writing itself. You hear it when he gets angry or when he’s beginning to get excited, and it’s the most wholesome thing you’ll probably ever get out of him.

Silver will try for you. He really will. He’ll probably fall asleep on your shoulder in the middle of reading to you. If you fall asleep before him, you’ll wake up with his jacket draped over you. If you fall asleep after, you can just use him as a pillow. He won’t complain. He’s probably doing the same anyway.

Who he ends up with

Ace is going to be naturally attracted to a girl he can "bring out the worst in."  She probably starts out shy and quiet, then Ace adopts her into his friend group, and now they are sassing each other back and forth. She calls him out on his bullshit, and fights against his teasing with teasing of her own. But she also takes care of him when he's down. He's hiding a lot of insecurity under his cool guy exterior, so if she lets him snuggle, and lets him whine, and then whispers how much she loves him, he'll be a happy man. Also, side note, he's fine if you like sports, but if you know nothing about basketball, it means he gets to look really good when you come to his games. Just saying….

Deuce Spade

Who he ends up with

He really means it when he says he wants someone like you. You're one of his first friends, and, in his mind, the person you date/marry should be your best friend. But if it's not you he ends up with, he will probably be attracted to a girl who's book smart, but less street smart. A little "dumb" like him, in a cute kind of way. He likes a cuddler, and maybe a girl who is shorter than him so that he can feel like he's swallowing her whole when he wraps his arms around her. Also, someone who encourages him and helps him with his homework/paperwork. 

Riddle Rosehearts

"I don't have time for a relationship right now….but I think I want someone well behaved who follows the rules- what are you smirking at? Just because you're a rule breaker doesn't mean every girl is. I'd also like her to be in the medical profession. You know, someone who works the same profession as me so we have similar interests."

As much as he hates to admit it…he's attracted to rule breakers. Not as bad as Ace obviously, he's not trying to go gray early. But if she says something like "let's have a non herbal tea" when it's time for only herbal tea…damn what a rush. By the time he gets serious with someone, he'll be confident enough in himself to cut ties with his mother, so she has to be strong willed, and willing to live off of a low budget for a while.  He'll need someone understanding, who knows he'll have relapses and be too much and too angry sometimes, and she has to be understanding of that, and encouraging of improvement, or he'll live with guilt for the rest of his life. 

Trey Clover

"Someone who's willing to settle down and grow fat and old with me. You're laughing, but I'm going to be running my parents bakery, and feeding people is my love language. Speaking of, you better finish off that slice of cake before the others steal it."

Who he ends up with

Trey isn't that picky. He really means it when he says he wants someone to get old and fat with. That's his dream. Running a bakery with his wife by his side, and growing old together as your own kids grow up and bring home their own spouses. But he also wants a girl he can blindside with his sadistic side. Someone who'll enjoy that side of him, but also someone who easily forgets it's there. It makes things more fun for him.

Cater Diamond

What he says

"Ha ha someone trendy and totes hot. Someone totally cammable. Aw, are you jealous? Don't worry, you'll always be my fave girlie, even if you're not the girl I love."

Who he ends up with

Cater wants someone who won't disappear when he looks away. Yes, if she's "cammable" that's the first thing he's looking for, but when all is said and done, if she seems like she's going to be flaky, he won't take it too seriously either, as a defense mechanism. He needs a girl with mental endurance, because he's going to spend the beginning of the relationship trying to scare her off. Not that he wants to, he just needs to know he won't be left alone like he usually is. He is going to be attracted to a girl who humors his trends and magicam addiction, but who also sees through him. Someone balanced.  She sees the real Cay Cay, but she's also willing to be his "trophy wife" online.

Jack says he wants someone who can work out with him. And he would really be happy if he had a girl who was as active as him…but he'd also be happy with a curvy girl. He gets blushy thinking about holding someone soft and plush against his firm muscles. But he's flexible. In the end he won't choose his future wife based on appearance and activity. Wolf beastmen mate for life, so the main thing he is looking for is loyalty. Loyalty, and someone who would want to raise lots of kids with him. As long as you have those two traits, nothing else really matters to him.

Ruggie Bucchi

This is a deflection. Ruggie loves the idea of a busy business wife, while he is a trophy househusband, cooking and cleaning for his high powered  lady. He wants a strong woman who will scratch his ears and tell him he did such a good job! Then he'll draw her a bath, and massage her feet as she tells him about her day, then they'll snuggle and make out until they fall asleep…that's the dream anyway. He can be a little worker bee until you rise through the ranks, which you will, Ruggie has absolute faith in you. You guys can rob people early on if you have to. In short…Ruggie wants a dommish woman who will call him a good boy and keep him well fed.

Also, she has to accept that nighttime is when she's a body pillow. That's an absolute must.

Or pressing a kiss to someone's cheek after you help them straighten their outfit. It's the soft romantic moments that'll speak to Azul when he finds his love. And if she has a spark of danger in her, oh man, he'll be simping so hard.

Jamil is going to be attracted to a hard worker. Someone who's dedicated, and slightly serious. He's also looking for a girl who will see how hard he works, and pampers him from time to time. He knows everyone has an individual definition of health and beauty. When he says he's looking for a beautiful woman, he's looking for someone who's willing to reach her full potential. Or, more accurately, to allow him to help her reach her full potential. Vil never admits it, but he adores pampering and styling people. His love language is helping people look their best. So if she's someone who knows herself enough to know what style she likes, he'll appreciate it, and take up the mantle of doing the hard work, ie making outfits, styling hair and makeup, formulating skin care etc. TLDR, he wants a confident self possessed woman he can dress like a doll, and show off.

It wouldn’t show up until you turned twenty — your soulmark. You wouldn’t know what it was until your birthday, mind exploring the different fonts and colors and shapes it could be. It could be a time, a date, a name, a sentence ; but you wouldn’t know until you turned twenty. 

And you were already impatient for it to happen. 

You were eleven when your brother brought home a new friend. Murayama Yoshiki was two years older than you, already had a band-aid on the left side of his cheek, and was hunched over when you met. His right hand was bruised and he had a permanent scowl on his face. The toys you were playing with disappeared as the two older boys stood above you. 

“[Name],” your brother spoke. He pointed at the bruised boy with his thumb, puffing out his chest proudly as he continued. “This is ‘Yama. My new friend. Be a nice sibling and get us a snack, hm?”

You only blinked, “get it yourselves.”

Attention occupied by the toys in front of you once more, you missed how your brother deflated. Murayama let out a snort before it grew into loud, obnoxious giggles. He patted your brother on the back, “didn’t teach you to fight so you could be mean to a kid!” Murayama then crouched down in front of you, “whatcha playin’? Can we join?”

And so life went on with one more included in your dinner nights and play times.

Growing up with Murayama, there was never a dull moment. The boy was always cracking jokes, getting into fights, standing up for you when your brother bullied you. It was fun ; he was fun.

You stayed up all night to see what your soulmark would be. A matching tattoo would be pretty ; a timer counting down more convenient than anything. To your luck, a small 11 was printed on the inside of your left wrist. That meant you’d meet your soulmate in eleven years — easy enough. All you had to do was wait.

There’s a knock on the front door that startles you awake. Pausing, you wait to see if it was real or something you’d misheard — and then a solid bang! jolts it again. You groan, shuffling from your warm, comfy bed to swing the front door open.

Murayama stands there, sheepish and alert as he peers in behind you. Sighing, you grumble, “he’s not here. Spent the night at his ass of the week’s house.”

The curly haired boy deflates but inches by you anyways as you open the door wider and let him in. You yawn, eyes catching sight of the clock and blanch at the time. “Why’re you here anyways?”

“Fishing.” He holds two fists up, one circling around as if he’s reigning in a reel. Murayama stuffs his hands into his pockets after, rocking on his heels briefly. “He’s really not home?”

“No,” you sigh out. “The sun’s not even up yet, ‘yama. The hell’re you fishing for?”

He doesn’t answer, looking over your disheveled attire and puffy eyes. “Don’t act like you were sleeping.”

“Jus’ drifted off, actually!” You give him the stink eye before turning on your heel and heading back towards your bedroom. Murayama follows behind you slowly, as if he’s testing his limits ; as if he’d never been alone with you before. You glare again as you plop back into your blankets, “no thanks to you.”

There’s a small light that’s shining in the center of your room, illuminating the area softly. It smells like lavender — your pillows, your sheets, the laundry detergent you use. All in vain ; Murayama knows it never helped you fall asleep.

“Gonna wait for him here?” Your voice is quieter ; it matches the atmosphere you’d created. He can barely see you in the dim lights, but Murayama knows you’ve cozied back up. “You’re welcome to. I’m going back to sleep. Goodnight!”

He rocks on his feet again as you turn over harshly, your back facing him. The room settles before you huff and glare at him over your shoulder. “What do you want, delinquent?”

Scrunching his nose at the old nickname, he shrugs. “You look comfy, s’all…” Murayama tilts his head side to side — your eyes narrow even more. You know where this is going. “And it is pretty early…. ‘M a little tired still…”

You groan and turn over, burying your face into your well-worn pillow. He thinks you didn’t take the bait ; thinks you won’t give in the way you typically do. But, Murayama wins most games he plays and you’re not exempt from that. “Jus’ get in already.”

Giddily, he’s jumping in beside you before he can think. You squeal when his leg rubs yours — “no sleepin’ in my bed with your jeans on!”

He’s tossing and turning endlessly, bare legs slipping against your own as he turns to the left. With a huff, Murayama lays on his back, slamming his hands onto the blanket below him. You sigh, raising up and crossing your arms in annoyance. “Are you done now, delinquent?”

“Can’t get comfy,” he says through a pout. You roll your eyes, relaxing your arms and posture as you think about just settling down and sleeping whether he was or not. Wide, brown eyes look your way, “help me, [name].”

“And how am I supposed to do that?” You clench your teeth as he shrugs, wiggling once more. 

Suddenly, your right wrist is gathered in Murayama’s grip as he slings you forward. You gulp, looking down at him now as he grins. “This could help…”

“How would me hovering over you help you sleep?” Your voice has softened ; quieted at the lack of space between you. Your fingers clench in a fist as he slightly scoots down so that your noses brush now. “Do you want me to just sleep in the air?”

You’re on your back before you can think. Murayama is caging you against your bed now, the cutely shaped light in your room illuminating from behind him like a halo. You gulp, eyes widening as he lowers his face even further, the hand that was gripping your wrist letting go. 

Slowly, Murayama’s hand meets the center of your chest, palm open as he tilts his head. “Heart’s beatin’ so fast, [name],” he’s quiet as he speaks. “Am I makin’ you nervous?”

How could he not be? He’s hovering over you, wavy strands tickling your forehead as he shifts his weight ever so slightly. Your breath catches in your throat as Murayama’s eyes meet yours — he just stares. 

“A little,” you squeak out. He grins at the noise ; only the right side of his lips lifting into a crooked, uneven smile. “Are you going to sleep in the air?”

Murayama lets out a loud sigh as he tilts his head, his hand creeping up to rest on your left cheek now. “I’m tryin’ to flirt with you, ya know? Why won’t you let me?”

“We—” your eyes drop to his grin before snapping them back up once more. His smile seems to widen at this, going to both sides of his mouth now. “Soulmates, delinquent. We both have someone out there, waiting for us.”

He frowns, curly hair falling into his eyes ; you resist the urge to brush it away for him. “Don’t think it could be me?”

“I’ve already met you.” Your voice is quiet again as you speak, defeated and accepting of the truth. Murayama wasn’t your soulmate, and he never would be — no matter how much both of you wanted it. “I still have a few more years to meet mine.”

As if to mock you — as if to make the truth burn more — the mark on Murayama’s wrist rubs against the one on yours. It’s warm, comforting as they touch. He sighs, leaning in to rest his forehead on yours, “wish it was different.”

“Me too,” you admit. Murayama pulls away to look at you, eyes widening at your confession. You shrug half-heartedly, as best as you could when he was still holding you down. “For a while, I guess. High school was hell for me — thought about you a lot.”

Letting out a groan, the delinquent lets his head fall to your collarbone as he huffs against it. His breath is warm and tickles where it touches — you try not to think about it. “Wish I knew. Had the biggest crush on you.”

Tugging your bottom lip beneath your teeth, you tentatively rake a hand through his hair. Murayama sags against you even more, almost falling on you. “Had?”

“Still do, I think.” Letting out another sigh, the man leaves a barely-there kiss against your neck before lifting himself above you once more. His smile is shaky ; untruthful as he looks down at you. “Let’s get some rest now, hm?”

You’re groggy as you wake up a few hours later. The blankets are still warm and slept-in ; Murayama must’ve just left. You let out a yawn, heading to the bathroom before following your growling stomach into the kitchen. Your brother is there now, deep in a conversation with his delinquent friend as you trudge your way to the refrigerator.

“Did either of you dunces make food?” Silence is the only thing that greets you. Raising your eyebrows in confusion, you turn to look at the men. Murayama’s mouth is wide open, gaping as he looks from you to your brother. The other questions his friend’s reaction, shrugging at you before leaving to shower. “Is that a no, then?”

Murayama is suddenly stomping your way, determination hitting every inch of him. Carelessly — but still gently enough to not hurt you — he pulls your left wrist to sit parallel with his own. “When we met…” he says through gritted teeth, “this could be the age we met.”

Your little 11 is side-by-side with his 13. You did meet then ; springly children who were already worrying about soulmates and new coloring books simultaneously. You gulp, your hands turning into fists as you think it over.

And, really, it’s so embarrassing how quickly you jump on him. Your clothes are still a disheveled, slept in mess ; face still puffy and voice still groggy. You know it’s not perfect — not the right, ideal time — but you leap forward and kiss Murayama anyways.

A gasp leaves his mouth as you settle against him, your tattooed wrists brushing and burning once more. You pull away briefly — only to grin at the way he chases after you — and give in immediately to kiss him again. Lightly tugging him away by his hair this time, you eye him for a minute. “This is real — we could be real?”

Murayama grins roguishly, pressing his lips to yours. He doesn’t pull away much, only enough to whisper, “think we've been real for a while.” Your grin meets his as you kiss him again.

A/N: This is just straight up angst, be ready.

Riddle has been pining after you since the moment you became part of his House. He sees how hard you work, he wants to reward you, he's scared of you thinking him to strict and not lovable outside of his role as Leader. The conflict of these emotions makes him keep his distance, only giving you short, fast nods when you do things right and scowls at you when you do things wrong, immediately cursing himself for making you feel sad. That being said he is a little bit less strict with you then everyone else, which is your first clue that he might be more then a heartless tyrant.

Leona wants to have you all to himself, a selfish desire when he hasn't even confessed to you yet. All he's done is shamesly flirt with you and confuse you about if he does have feelings or not. When you kiss he is passionate and wild, but when you separate he doesn't want to talk about it anymore, like it never happened. He's playing with your heart as much as he is with his own, pulling away before any stronger feelings can form but never far enough to let anyone else have a chance with you. You can always feel his eyes on you, watching over you, a lion watching his prey, or his lioness, to him you are both.

Azul keeps finding reasons for you to spend time with him, just a little excuse to see you more and distract himself from the drowning feeling inside his chest. He knows what it is and he knows that it goes away when you're with him, so that's what he tries to achieve without actually saying the words out loud. He's seen what romance and love do, how they can ruin people. He's already ruined, he's made so many contracts, he can't get any worse, and he can't let you sink down with him, no matter how much he'd love to see that. He's happy keeping things as they are, with the longing gazes on both ends. Even if you try to tell him how you feel he will suggest a no strings option, it's better that way, for both of you.

Kalim has been friends with you since you were kids, and has had a crush on you for almost as long. He knows that as someone of royal blood there are expectations placed on who he should marry one day, the thing is that he already has his heart set on someone: you. As scared as he is of you rejecting him he would hate himself, and his life, if he didn't at least try to make you see the amount of love he has for you. He was afraid, avoiding you until he came up with the perfect words, making you think you did something wrong. It wasn't until he took you on a magic carpet ride under the stars that he poured his heart out to you, asking you to rule beside him one day.

Vil will gladly let you know how he feels... when he determines that you're good enough for him. He keeps trying to find flaws in you so he can tell himself that he's above you. It never works, for every flaw he finds ten more things to love. It only makes him more anxious to be perfect in front of you, doing everything he can to impress you to get you to be the one to make the first move and confess to him instead of the other way around. If that's the case he can save face and pretend that this whole pining thing never happened, that he didn't want to kiss you for the past year, like it wasn't all he was dreaming about.

Idia always flares up when he's around you, his flames running hot, running like a wildfire until he gets ahold of himself. Difficult to achievable with some breathing exercises. These become so frequent that you begin to worry that he's sick. You visiting him at his dorm and offering to cook for him and his brother doesn't make his feelings simmer down, they boil over. As you get ready to leave he stops you by holding you by the wrist, his face pink as he tells you how his flames burn brighter for you.

Malleus can't help but make himself scarce whenever you're around. He's missing enough classes as is, he does not need this. When he sees you talking to other students, laughing and smiling at them he wishes so badly that its him, but it can't be, he shouldn't be around you, it would only bring the same scrutiny it does him. Jealous as he might be of your friendships and closeness to everyone he feels its better to keep loving you from the shadows, he's happy as long as you're happy, even if he himself isn't the cause of that happiness.
