Do You Have Any Advice On How To Write Someone Of Something Being Throw Around? Like "X Punched Y, Who

Do you have any advice on how to write someone of something being throw around? Like "X punched Y, who was propelled backwards and feel to the ground (insert random distance) away from X"?

Well, there are a lot of options. I mostly try to focus on what/who causes the fall, the fact that they/it falls, what they think & feel and what happens next. I've just written something, so maybe that'll explain better what I mean:

From one second to the other, Theo ducks and lounges at Stiles. His shoulder crashes into his ribcage, eliciting a sharp pang of pain just above his heart. It takes his breath and balance. They’re stumbling. Stiles’ heart hammers against his chest, fingers and hands searching for purchase on Theo's shoulders, arms, sweater. His left foot slips on something, and he loses the connection to the floor. Theo lets go off him, gives Stiles' a shove and lets him fall. Just like that. For a second, it's like he's suspended in midair, nothing within reach that could stop it.

The ground does nothing to cushion his fall. It knocks the air out of him; all of it rushing past his parted lips at once.

As you see, I don't care about distance. It doesn't matter to the person falling or being flung across the room. They might think about it later.

Without further ado, Theo yanks the staff out of Stiles’ hands and throws it across the room. Like the kunai before, it clatters over the floor, then rolls until it bumps against the wall.

Same here. Distance doesn't really matter. What is thrown, who throws it and where does it end up. Those are the things I cared about in the scene because that's what the character thinks about in the moment. If you want to mention the distance, you should at it after. Maybe you could mention it like this:

When the pain faded, and he could breath again, Stiles looks up, stares at Theo, standing on the opposite end of the room. The distance seems surreal, too big. Theo couldn't have flung him that far.

Or something along those lines. I just try to keep in mind what's important right in the moment. Everything else comes later.
