I Dont Talk A Lot About Religion, Think I Mentioned Being Christian Once, But To Be Specific Im A Lapsed

I don’t talk a lot about religion, think I mentioned being Christian once, but to be specific I’m a lapsed Catholic.

I was raised by a catholic family, but they aren’t very good Catholics, they often don’t go to church, most haven’t read the bible, were against confessions, discarded some parts of the Bible in favor of science, etc.

It led to me having a somewhat confusing religious upbringing. I never read the full bible and my understanding of God is a weird mix of the few parts I read and personal interpretation.

My main reasons to not engaging with the church are basically:

- I always found their activities boring.

- I hate how annoyingly bigoted the church and it’s members can be, can’t stand some of these people.

- I’m queer (self explanatory).

Why I don’t call myself an ex catholic? My understanding of God is so tied to my personal interpretation that I never felt the need to stop believing. I only feel the need to distance myself from the institutions.

Not me always choosing tall tavs when in real life I’m only a couple centimeters taller than a a big dwarf.

I’m asexual.

I read NSFW fanfics like fantasy novels disconnected from reality until I remember that people actually do a lot of these things.

I see provocative advertisement and think it’s exaggerated as a joke until I remember that people actually get turn on by this.

It feels unbelievable to me but apparently these are real things.

I could try it someday! Doing wonky collages is pretty fun, if anyone has suggestions I’m happy to hear them.

I watch mostly animated series, so I don’t know a lot of actors. Suggestions are pretty helpful.

All generations of Monster High didn’t explore the topic of eugenics, which honestly is such a wasted opportunity, especially when it comes to G3 Lagoona.

Lagoona is latina and in most of Latin America, people of color weren’t legally forbidden to marry white people like in the US, in fact the governments wanted them to do so. It was an eugenist tactic to make the population whiter, slowly reducing the black population through miscegenation.

It’s super common for a white family in Latin America to have black or indigenous relatives. I’m mixed and my two great grandmas fell into that trap. They were both black and stayed in marriages with shitty white men (this isn’t an attack on white people, my great grandpas really weren’t the best people).

It’s kinda implied that fresh water monsters are kinda like colonizers, so it would be cool to have this kind of situation included to open the doors for discussion.

One of the reasons it took me so long to be diagnosed is because both of my parents are neurodivergent (kinda).

My mom is diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. My dad is the reason I say kinda, I’m not sure what he has since he doesn’t like to talk about it but it involves tics and he suffers from pretty bad motion sickness as well.

In their eyes I was never a weirdo, they always saw me as a regular child, even when the people outside my home started thinking I was weird. I wasn’t any weirder than they were so it wasn’t a problem.

They blame themselves a lot for not realizing it sooner, but I’m thankful that at least at my home, I wasn’t seen as an anomaly.
