I love Xue Yang. I mean, I REALLY love him. He’s such a fun character, and his actor hits ALL the right notes with him.

We don’t know much about him so far except for he’s CLEARLY Chaotic Evil, and he knows something about the Yin Metal that he’s not telling Wen Ruohan. Also, physical threats don’t work on him:

(Interestingly enough, the Netflix translation translates this as “I’m afraid of boredom.” I don’t know which translation is more accurate, but I prefer this one, because I think it goes far toward explaining his actions much later in the story, too.)

Anyway, what is this purpose? We only learn in this that he wants to get the piece of Yin Metal from the Yueyang Chang clan. And that the idea causes no end of pleasure for him. It will be a while until we understand why, but for now just remember him, because we will see him infrequently.
