Stan And Mabel Headcanons
Stan and Mabel Headcanons
Mabel noticed Stan doesnt wear a seatbelt very much when he drives, so she took the "our hero" sash and turned it into a seatbelt cover for him and told him "if you want to be our hero again you have to wear a seatbelt"
Mabel saw him sewing a button back on his shirt and insisted she teach him cross-stitch. They cross-stitch together and watch ducktective. She finds patterns for him with stuff like "this isn't a crack house, it's a crack home"
Stan lets Mabel paint his nails and draw "tattoos" on him. She once wrote "I love you" on him, and he saved a picture of it so he could get it actually tattooed in her handwriting someday
For a while, Mabel decided she needed to become vegetarian for Waddles, and Stan learned to cook vegetarian meals for her
Mabel knows she's not allowed in Stan's room but still likes to slide drawings and notes under the door, especially if she thinks he's in there because he's upset
Stan dictates the shopping list to Mabel. He checks the fridge and cabinets and she writes. She always adds "candy" at the end, covers it in stickers, and writes notes like "don't shoplift!"

that is implying that he has posed erotically, or at LEAST nude! and i feel like the old man fucker nation is seriously missing out on the POSSIBILITIES that creates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bc. like. imagine. and be cringe here w me for a sec, if you will, but….. a stan pines x reader where reader was at a yard sale or something and picked up a huge box of old comics, magazines, and etc! she’s going thru them with stan and they’re having a good time, and then WHOOPS! someone hid their saucy mags from like the 80s at the bottom! so now reader and stan are laughing and everything, and then reader pulls out a certain one, and suddenly stan is quiet, and then what do u know? good ol reader turns the page, giggling, and suddenly theres a younger stan posed in front of her on a page, and the good ol stan we know beside her
and i CANNOT stop thinking about this but i also CANNOT write and it is tearing me apart 😭😭😭
Stan and Soos Headcanons
Stan didn't pay Soos to work until he turned 15 (child labor laws, y'know). It was more like voluntary babysitting, though Stan would never admit it. Soos still refers to that time as his "apprenticeship"
Soos wanted to drop out of school and just work at the shack but Stan encouraged him to finish, since he never got the chance. Stan bought Soos a used truck as a graduation gift
Stan always made an effort not to swear in front of Soos, which made things easier when the kids moved in
Soos invites Stan to church every Christmas and Easter. Stan is uncomfortable the whole time, but still goes, and secretly likes knowing that someone thought of him
During the winter months, things get slow and sometimes Stan doesn't bother opening the store. He still pays Soos a full salary, even if all he did was shovel snow for a few hours
Before leaving with Ford, Stan spent a week finally getting the shack's finances in order so Soos wouldn't get in any trouble with the IRS while he was gone.

Silly Quirks of Stanley Pines (hcs)
No I will not elaborate!
Types on a computer with just his index fingers
Kisses with his eyes open
Can count money really fast
Can play the harmonica, but not very well
Tries to kill flies by punching them in mid air (has never been successful)
Drunk kissed an Elvis impersonator
Owns a custom bowling ball and bowling shoes
Believes premium gasoline is a scam
Accused of forklift certification fraud (guilty)
Still doesn't really know what 'kosher' means (grew up Jewish)
I would still let this man do unspeakable things to me
Why Stan Had to Get His Memory Back
For many of the episodes of Gravity Falls, there is a pattern where the physical supernatural beast or conflict being dealt with matches directly to some internal conflict that the character has.
Examples:
In Double Dipper, Dipper wants to dance with Wendy but is getting in his own way with his overthinking and his list. This is shown physically by clones of himself turning on him.
In Carpet Diem, both twins are struggling to see from the other’s perspective and be more courteous with how they share a living space. They are physically forced to switch bodies to learn more about the other’s experiences.
In Scary-oke, Dipper struggles to trust Stan and feels that Stan’s goal to protect him from the supernatural is unfair and unnecessary. Dipper then summons a bunch of zombies to prove a point. Him and Mabel must then rely heavily on Stan’s help to escape the zombies, and team up with him to finally defeat them.
Most character development in the more stand-alone episodes follows this format, but it’s harder to catch with the series-spanning character arcs like Stanley’s.
But before we get into that, one more less-obvious example:
Fiddleford’s internal conflict while working with Ford is that he had many traumatizing experiences that were causing him to suffer. But instead of having time and loving people around him to help him work through it, he had Ford continuously pushing him to work harder and finish the portal. This required him to suppress his feelings and pretend that those bad experiences did not exist.
This is physically manifest by his creation of the memory gun. Which, in my opinion, does not completely erase memories in the way that Fiddleford intended and believed that it did. Instead, it only suppresses them. The memory gun takes whatever is written on it out of the person’s conscious mind and pushes it deep into their subconscious mind. Fiddleford still suffered the effects of his trauma - the fear, the paranoia - he only forgot the cause. And it drove him to insanity.
But when Dipper and Mabel help him remember, and when Ford finally apologizes for all that he did, Fiddleford is able to bring those feelings back to the surface and begin to work through them while surrounded by people that care about him. Ford explains in the journal that all of this helped Fiddleford begin to slowly return to his old self again.
So, knowing that the memory gun only suppresses memories, let’s finally talk about Stanley:
When Bill first entered Stan’s mind while he was sleeping, he was inside of Stan’s subconscious mind, which contained all of his old memories and feelings and experiences. But when Bill enters Stan’s mind when he’s awake, he’s in his conscious mind - what Stan was currently thinking about at that moment. Which was, essentially, himself and Bill. His focus was entirely on himself defeating Bill. If, in order to be a hero, Stan’s conscious sense of self had to physically be erased along with Bill, what internal conflict of Stan’s does this represent?
Stan’s whole life he felt like a screw-up. Like a bad guy that would never be worth anything. That’s who he felt Stanley Pines was. So, in order to be a hero for his family, he felt that everything he used to be had to go away. He had to repress all of his past mistakes and screw-ups in order for his family to see him as a hero. He could not be both a hero and Stanley Pines because Stanley Pines was not a hero.
Once Bill is gone, Stanley is a hero, but he isn’t Stanley Pines anymore. Until Mabel and the rest of the family start to talk about how wonderful he used to be. How the old Stanley wasn’t a screw up. How everything that he used to be was wonderful and good and they loved him for it - all of it. Once Stan accepted that he could be both a hero and be himself and be all of his past and be loved for it and not have to suppress it - it all came back. It came back because he realized he’s loved and accepted by others and he could finally accept himself.
That’s why Stan had to get his memory back.
*vibrating in place*
Okay so, thanks to the lovely mutual @localcanadiancreature62 I've been been thinking about similarities between the four pine twins. Mainly Dipper and Stanley, and fam I think that maybe Dipper takes after Stanley a lot more than he does Ford. Let me explain.
Dipper's main motivations is protecting Mabel. While he loves the mystery and gaining knowledge, at the end of the day Mabel's the most important thing to him. Dipper gives up a lot for his older sister, so much so that when he's possessed by Bill and Bill mockingly asks who'd give everything up for their dumb sibling Mabel without hesitation replies-
"Dipper would."
And who else do we know who gives up everything for their sibling?
Stanley.
Stanley spent 30 years giving up his life, his identity, his remaining family, literally everything just to bring back Ford. Because Ford's more important than anything else. Just as Mabel is to Dipper.
Dipper also has an uncanny knack for spotting con artists. This kid is always suspicious of free offers and deals too good to be true. Examples of this are the first episode when Stan offers the twins something from the shop. And Mabel is quick to jump on board with it, not questioning a thing while Dipper immediately is like-
"What's the catch?"
Or during the Gideon Glee arch, when Gideon was doing his thing at the tent and his advertisements. Dipper wasn't buying it, and at several points outright scoffed at things that were clearly a scam. He's even more critical of it because his Gruncle Stan isn't Gideon's biggest fan and Dipper surprisingly takes Stan's words to heart. Which we see in the episodes like Dipper trying to be a man and Stanley praises him for standing up for what he believed in. And Dipper's attitude immediately brightened at it. Or the moment when Bill offered a deal to Dipper in exchange for a puppet. Dipper was incredibly hesitant and even asked a few times if that's all Bill wanted. Who else is like this?
Stan is.
Stanley is critical of anything that seems off. Always questioning if there's a catch or if something else is going on. He's not easily bought, and neither is Dipper.
And finally Dipper and Stanley believe that family is the most important thing.
Dipper when he's offered the apprenticeship from Ford his first reaction after excitement is-
"What about Mabel?"
Because Mabel is one of the most important things to Dipper. In fact this scene reminds me of the scene when Ford and his parents are in the office about his scholarship and while everyone else is focused on that, Stan and Ford's mom is the only one to ask-
"What about Stanley?"
Anyways, Dipper's biggest thing is family. This kid gets into dangerous situations to protect Mabel, Ford and Stan with everything he has. And is more than willing to die for them if it comes down to it. And Stanley is the exact same way. Just like Dipper, Stan will fight tooth and nail for his brother and nibbings till the very end.
In short I think Dipper takes more after Stanley than we realized. It's all there in the finer details and it makes me feral just thinking about it.
