ZYGLAVIS (💛) - Reassuring you.

You were walking home as fast as you can to start working on the assignments your teacher gave you.

The sun was setting, you reached home changed your clothes and started washing the dishes left in the sink. Folded the clothes and ironed your clean uniform for tomorrow. 6.30 pm you got a phone call from your mom telling you she will be late for dinner. You sighed, she always works so hard. You started your assignment knowing it will take you another evening to complete it. Your mom came home and you two ate in silence. She has dark circles under her eyes, a clear sign of her sleeplessness. " Mom. How was the meeting ? You don't have any extra work this weekend, right? " she smiled and said " no". She looked relieved.

1 am, you heard someone typing something in the living room, it's mom. She lied to you, because you wanted to go to the movie theater with her on Sunday and she couldn't refuse you. She knew your love for movies and she wanted to spend some time with you. Your mom went to work and you went to school as usual.

Around 2pm you were called to the principal's office. She told you " Your mother has collapsed at work. Your mother's co worker will pick you up within 15 minutes."

Your mom was awake. The doctor told you she is alright but she has been diagnosed with diabetes. But he warned both of you that this should never happen again.

Your mom had to stay in the hospital for two days. That night Zyglavis visited you and your mom in the hospital. You were a happy to see him since you last saw him two weeks ago. " How are you?" he said. " Fine". " How is work? " you asked. He smiled and said department of punishment were busy . He seemed tired almost like a human. He wanted to stay but the hospital staff refused to let him stay.

You wanted to talk to him. After telling your mom you went to the mansion. It was empty. " He told me he would be here today" you recalled. You went to his room and saw a letter on the floor.

It read " My sweetheart, Jessica. I have talked to your parents about our wedding. They are delighted and want the ceremony to take place as soon as possible. I wanted to tell you this in person but i have some business to attend first. Please take care of yourself my love".

You couldn't believe what you just read. How could he do this to you? Did you not mean anything to him? Were you just a toy for him to play with? You wanted to cry but no tears were falling from your eyes.

Zyglavis came back to his room 15 minutes later. You have already left the mansion. He was waiting for you. There was a knock on the door. He answered it immediately. Instead of you it was his cousin sister Jessica. Jessica rushed inside his room, she was looking for something. " Did you see the letter? I think i dropped it somewhere. " she said. " What letter? " he asked . " The letter that was in my hand along with the documents you asked me to bring. It was from my fiance". " What was written in that letter? " he asked cautiously. " Did you forget about my wedding, brother? My fiance went to my parents to get their blessings."

9 pm, you were sitting beside your mom's bed on the chair with the letter in your hand, wondering what went wrong between you two. You loved him but he was there making plans to marry some goddess while lying to you about being busy with work. There was a knock on the window. You opened it saw Zyglavis and a beautiful woman. You knew he is here to finally announce his marriage. " What do you want, Mr. Zyglavis? Are you here to announce your marriage? you said in a cold and emotionless tone. Before he could say something the woman, Jessica apologized and explained you everything. " I am sorry, it was all my fault. My brother will never never do something to hurt you. " saying that she left. " I am sorry " you said ashamed. He gently raised your chin " Its not your fault, anybody reading that letter would have thought so." " I will never leave you my love. You are my one and only. He gently kissed you on the forehead. Your mom got discharged from the hospital the next day and she took a two weeks leave from her office. The next day all the three of you went to watch the movie in the theater.

You were writing your assignment; Julian was sitting across the table writing his own. This is your last assignment before the final exams.

" What's the answer of this question?" Julian looked up from his notebook to your notebook, then pointed at a paragraph written on the book.

" You should pay attention in the class. " he said with a cheeky girn. You rolled your eyes.

"Julian? Are you going home in the evening?"

" Yes. Mom told me told visit grandma and grandpa before the exams." he answered. " I will be back by Sunday evening."

" You should pay attention on the assignment. "

" Yeah, yeah . I just asked you one question alright. I have solved the rest myself. " you said.

You two have known each other for past 10 years; becoming best friends in elementary school.

Julian is your mom's friend 's son. You two often studied together. He helped you with your maths homework.

Today you had one those study sessions.

" Which one are you writing?" he asked. " Last one." you replied.

" Did you do the homework? ( name )."

" No! I completely forgot about it. "you said. You were frantic. You hated mathematics and you feared the maths teacher.

" Don't worry i will help you solve them", Julian said trying to suppress his laughter. " You should look at yourself. "

" Fine.", you crossed your arms infornt of your chest and huffed. " Well if you are done teasing me for today. I would like some actual help. "

He helped you in solving those math problems.

" Will you come to school tomorrow?" you asked.

" Yeah." He stood; putting the books, notebooks and pencil case in his backpack. " I will go to grandma 's house in the afternoon. "

You accompanied him to the door. Once he left, you came back to your study table and started arranging your books and putting them in your school bag.

Suddenly you heard a knock on the window. It was Aigonorus, as you hoped.

You opened the window and let him inside your room.

" How was your day, sweety?" he asked cheerfully. " It was fine. Went to school, completed the assignment; pretty boring actually. How was yours?" you asked smiling back at him.

" Followed my usual routine, fell asleep , Tauxolouve escorted me to my room , woke up, went to the living room , Leon and Karno scolded me for slacking off." he said in a tired voice.

" When are you exams starting?" he asked.

" From next month", you handed him a glass of water. " 20 th, i think."

You two laid on your bed and continued your conversation, until both of you dozed off.

The next morning Aigonorus dropped you off at your school. When he was about to leave; he noticed a tall guy around your age , approaching you. He had bright blue eyes and neck length brown hair.

Julian asked, " Who was that guy? Is he your boyfriend?"

" Yes he is my boyfriend. His name is Aigonorus. " you said. " We started dating last month."

Aigonorus was standing behind a tree watching you and this guy walk away.

The school bell rang, indicating the gate will be closed soon.

Aigonorus snapped his fingers and went back to heaven.

Vega gave him and Tauxolouve their papers ( wishes list). They went to the reflecting pool to grant the wishes one by one.

After two hours they had managed to grant almost all the wishes. When Tauxolouve decided to ask him, " Is something wrong , Aigo? "

Aigonorus quickly replied, " Yes , i am fine."

" Really? It seems you are worried about something. " Tauxolouve said.

" You want to talk about it?" . Aigonorus quickly snapped his fingers. He went to your school and looked into the classroom.

He saw that same guy; sitting beside your. He was whispering something to you and you were giggling. The next moment you whispered something to him and he laughed. This continued until a teacher entered the classroom and all the laughter and commotion died down.

You went outside the school building; Aigonorus was waiting for you. You walked up to him.

" I didn't think you would come to pick up from school. " you said. He didn't say anything in return, just kept walking beside you.

" Aigo what happened?" he was still silent.

You reached home dropped your bag on the chair and asked him," What's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?"

You looked him in the eye, but he averted his gaze, and slowly asked in a timid voice, " ( Name ) , who was that guy, talking to you at school? " he had a bitter expression on his face.

He had never seen you laugh like that, at one of his jokes. You look so carefree and relaxed in that guy's presence. " Am i not good enough?" he thought.

" Aigo, that guy is Julian. My childhood bestfriend. We have known each other from the last 10 years. He is like a brother to me." you said.

You placed you hand on his cheek, " I love you, only you. " saying that you kissed him on the forehead.

" I was jealous." he admitted. " I have had similar experiences in the past." he look down at the floor, ashamed.

You introduced Aigonorus to Julian. It took them some time but eventually they warmed up to each other.

Next day during recess.

" ( Name ), i wonder how you managed to find someone like Aigonorus? He is out of your league; don't you think? " he whispered to you before running away while you tried to catch him.

" You are so mean Julian! " you said chasing after him.

" Don't pout like that, it makes you look like an angry duck." he said.

You and Aigonorus went on a date, few days later.

" I wanted to apologize to you for doubting you. I am sorry. " he said .

" That's alright, i don't hold that against you." you reassured him, and gently placed your lips on his and kissed him , which he gladly returned.

“I had so much fun today, Tauxolouve. When can I see you again?“

The goddess in front of me blushed prettily as I took her delicate hand into my own and placed a chaste kiss on top of it. A gesture that had become second nature to me, for I had done so many, many times.

“I'm afraid out next date will have to wait. The king has given me a special assignment that might require me to be on Earth for a while. So, be good and wait for me, yes?“ I ended my sentence with a wink and a practiced smile, knowing exactly what kind of effect it would have on the woman in front of me. And sure enough, she coyly withdrew her hand while giggling, giving me an equally alluring look.

“As long as you don't make me wait too long. I might get bored of you in the meantime, you know“ With these words, she went on her way and I let out a sigh.

It's not as if that would bother me. After all, our two weeks are almost over.

As I walked down the hallway, I could feel the disdainful glances directed my way – could hear the whispers behind my back.

For every god that looked up to me because of the position and power I held, there were at least two that resented me for the way I behaved. Those spiteful remarks were nothing new to me and they stopped bothering me long ago. After all, I couldn't really blame them. My frivolous ways had rightfully earned me the title 'biggest playboy in the heavens' and I had done nothing to refute that.

After all, there wasn't really a point.

Falling in love myself was absolutely unthinkable. At least...that was what I had intended.

I stopped in my tracks, chuckling to myself. It was a dry, humorless laugh. Oh, if only they knew.

One of the reasons why I indulged in these short, meaningless romantic relationships with all those goddesses was so that I could pass the time until my inevitable end approached. The other reason was...to stop myself from thinking about her.

The one person who was always on my mind, no matter how hard I tried to distract myself. The one person who would always have my heart – unknowingly – despite all my attempts to take it back. The one person that I yearned for with all my being.

The one person....that I could never have.

“Lou? What are you doing, just standing there? No way, did you get dumped?“ I started an whirled around as a familiar voice yanked me back into the present. There she stood, as if I had summed her just by thinking about her, smiling that beautiful smile that always made my heart skip a beat. Her sudden appearance had startled me so much that it took me a moment to compose myself, which earned me a raised eyebrow in response.

""Wait, did you actually get dumped?“

I took a deep breath, then slid my mask back into place. „Oh, are you concerned for my well-being? I didn't no that you could be so sweet. Don't worry – even if I did end up getting dumped, it wouldn't really bother me.“

She shook her head and sighed, failing to fully hide the rather exasperated look on her face. I felt as if someone had punched me in the stomach. It hurt to think that she would view me as the others did – as nothing more than a superficial playboy. And yet...it was for the best.

"Just...be careful, Lou. If you keep acting like this, you might end up really hurting someone. Either that, or you will be the one who's hurting in the end.“

"Don't worry. I always make sure to let them down as gently as possible.“

And as for getting hurt by falling in love with someone that I could never have...

I looked deep into her eyes, ignoring the questioning glance that I received in return

If I could turn back time and punch myself for being so stupid and careless, I would. If she could see me now, she would be so disappointed with me. Disgusted, even. I knew that I definitely was disgusted with myself.

I hesitated for a moment, then carefully placed my hand on the slim shoulder of the trembling woman in front of me. The human woman, who tried her very best to hold back the tears that had gathered in her eyes. The human woman that I had sworn to protect and keep safe from any harm.

The very same human woman that I had hurt so badly with my careless actions.

As I tried my best to console the young woman, I could hear the her words playing on repeat in my mind – the same words I had all but dismissed earlier.

If you keep acting like this, you might end up really hurting someone.

She was right. Gods, how right she was.

"I...I don't understand“ the young human woman said, her voice shaking badly with every word. "Is...is there really no way...for you to be with me?“ The desperate tone of her voice, the look in her eyes – all of it tore my heart to pieces. I wanted to hold her in my arms, to apologize over and over again. I did this. I did this to her.

Instead, I acted like I always did. I smiled charmingly at her, lifting one hand to wipe her tears away. "Don't cry, little lady. Those tears are wasted on me. The laws of the heavens forbid gods from entering into a relationship with a human. We are supposed to love all humans equally. Besides – you deserve so much better. I know that there is someone out there – a human man – who will make you so much happier than I ever could.“

The young woman took a few steps back, desperately shaking her head. „But I want you“, she whispered, her tears slowly trailing down her cheek, "I only ever wanted you“.

These words tore my heart apart, for they could as well be my own. For the first time I really understood what it felt like to yearn for a person who in turn had given their heart to someone else.

I thought about her and how I had never wanted anyone else.

You were so right, my love. I really messed up this time.

„I'm afraid I can't return those feelings, little lady“. She flinched and in this moment, I hated myself. She did not deserve this. She was so much more pure and good-hearted than those pompous goddesses that I usually surrounded myself with. This young woman deserved so much better.

Just like her.

"Is...is there someone else? A...a goddess?“

"No, there isn't.“

There was. Yet I had no right to say it. Those where words I could never speak.
