Hogoshamaru Week DAY FOUR: Teaching and Learning

This is one of the silliest things I’ve ever drawn lmao but y’all know this is accurate. It’s sketchy because I got tired of working on it, sorry!!!😵😵

(Sesshoumaru refuses to get on with the times and wear period-appropriate clothes because he’s the type of old man who goes “the way young people these days dress is an affront to the dignity of all living beings”.)

It's a nice day to remember the time Rumiko compared SessKagu to MiroSan. The romantic interest between each couple developed on its own while Rumiko wrote the story. It just made sense to her and she added little moments in the OG manga/anime for us to understand what each character felt for their significant other.

And how did Miroku and Sango's relationship end up? They first had twin daughters and later a son.

I also remembered the first time I learned of Kagura's love for Sesshomaru while watching InuYasha. It surprised me because after all Kagura worked for Naraku. I had not seen a 'villain' falling for the 'good guy' before. But regardless of that, her feelings for Sesshomaru didn't seem out of place to me. It demonstrated her capability of feeling love for another. Thus she no longer was the 'villain'.

When I look at Kagura as an individual, the authentic way she strived to live, totally separated from Naraku, her character is so easy to love. Her personality is cheeky, bold, charming and playful. She is also clever, smart and quick to understand what drives others. She's resilient and tough in a fight. Her most outstanding qualities are her compassion and empathy. A living example of that is Kohaku, who's life was protected and defended by Kagura.

Once she got tired of her imprisonment she started playing double agent for the good and the bad guys solely to earn her freedom. She sought to be redeemed of her evil origins and through Sesshomaru she could achieve it. But inevitably, due to her good nature, she chose the welfare of another life over her own and fell in love with Sesshomaru.

So what if Kagura loved that stoic, handsome dog lord although she wasn't meant to? She would have her way and win his heart against all odds. She eventually did it. And Rumiko gave us the CANON original, manga/Final Act scene of the fight with Moryomaru and the OG beautiful flower field scene to finally learn that their feelings were mutual.

Similarly to MiroSan that were shown with a family of their own to confirm their relationship DURING the OG series. Meaning this couple has the same CANON foundation as SessKagu.

To finalize this post, I'd like to add that above everything else I've mentioned, I continue seeing in Kagura's character a sensitive, young brave woman with a strong personality, ready to stand up to injustices, fight for herself and for those who are in need. That on its own it's admirable, even a good example to follow. This realization makes me appreciate her outstanding, timeless character even more in the present day.

I wanted to use this site as a way to tap into my inner nerd and possibly share it with others; these are done by me using traditional mediums.  I love Kenshin and Tomoe’s story so much; I’ve watched the OVA (Trust and Betrayal) I don’t know how many times and the live action is just spectacular. 

I continue to see the argument with the meaning of Hogosha...why I don't know.

I thought I would add another word to the mix: Foster Parent

 a person who acts as parent and guardian for a child in place of the child's natural parents but without legally adopting the child

In that regard, do you think it's okay for a foster parent to take in, clothe, feed and protect a child only to one day 'be' with them? Uh...no. It's not that hard to see how disgusting and wrong that is.

I agree with this statement and all the comments that followed; for many years, Sesshomaru has been uninterested in humans, hanyou’s and the like.  He’s traveled in search of strength and opponents to beat; when he saved Rin and allowed her to follow him (although he always said she could do as she pleased), he didn’t bother stopping her.  Even when the monks were going to take her away, he was going to allow it, but decided against it; when Kagura died, he was clearly upset and bothered he couldn’t save her.  For an unemotional character to suddenly feel something is foreign.

Although I love the idea of him and Kagura together, I too think he didn’t appear to be the type of character to just fall in love and have children..much less fall in love and have children with a human/hanyou.  Sesshomaru would continue to explore this new emotion (for lack of a better word) to understand more of why he felt this way; why was he upset when Kagura was insulted and died?  This is something he would try to understand; I can’t see him asking Inuyasha about it, so that’s way I think he would continue in search for himself.

I see him continuing to travel, but now with a new purpose; possibly with each person he encounters he grows more to understanding why he’s changing and what that could mean for him.  This could take years, especially for someone like him; reading the comments by others who feel the same way makes me wonder why this wasn’t explored further?  It would make great episodes; Sesshomaru encountering different forms of people with different emotions comparing them to himself and what he’s learned over time. 

So, I see a lot of different ships for Sesshomaru. SessKik, SessKagu, and even some SessKago, SessNara, SessKiri. But I was wondering are there others out there like me who don't ship Sess with anyone? People who think he's a strong Independent King who doesn't need a queen? I have always seen him as a lone wolf type who had a small family he cared about but he never had the need nor want for Love/Romance. I always saw him as thinking that it was just tedious and pointless. He just had no need or want for it. Are there others who think this as well?

Maybe Setsuna and Towa have different mothers 🤔...neither one being Rin of course

With how much setsuna looks like buakuya, what i am starting to doubt is sesshomaru being the father 🤣 are we sure they are not the kids of rin and some younger incarnation of naraku???
