I texted in sick today, and it's really sad that I have to put my phone on silent and just not check it cause I know for a fact that I'm gonna be getting every type of text but a "get well soon" text from my boss.

Seeing how that Princess Peach game had its key art changed to be more expressive (as for myself, I do think the middle face looks somewhat off and closer to the proportions of the movie than the games' art style) and how apparently there's been some """drama""" and controversy around it.

Only to very quickly find out the person that controversy mainly originated from is one of those dipshit "loli" vtubers. Another one that I've never heard of before, but any time one of them pops up like weeds in a garden, they're always on some reactionary, 4chan type shit, saying it's because "she looks too masculine", parroting what some absolute morons on youtube said about the movie because Peach wears pants and isn't a helpless damsel to be rescued.

I think this vtuber space is rotten to the core. I hate how the biggest references in this industry are corporate puppets, anime mascots made only to exploit parasocial bonds and sell merchandise. How they appeal so directly to the absolute worst subsections of anime fandom. How so many good-willed indies end up making the problem worse because instead of being the alternative, they simply try to imitate the mainstream.

I said it before and I'll say it until my face turns blue. If you try to be an inoffensive "content creator" who doesn't take a stance when it matters, in fear of alienating part of the audience, you'll only be creating a safe space for the worst kind of people. The lie of "I just want my media to be a form of escapism" isn't something that you say because you don't want to depress people by discussing the Israel-Palestine conflict, it's a narrative cowardly pedalled by those whose day is ruined by seeing a gay person in their anime or pronouns in their sci-fi videogame.

You can "not all vtubers" me if you want, but as long as this is the influence and the reputation the label carries for people outside of the community, they might as well all be. I know what I mean when I say I hate them.

Things that evoke Nostalgia and scents in me, as a 20-year-old:

Stolen Dance by Milky Chance: Only song that truly feels 2010s to me, as it's the song I associate with my bus ride to school, where the radio would always play it at that time.

It evokes a weird cold smell, like the smell of winter, along with the smell of fall, and a certain perfume that I can't quite put my finger on.

Deerling from Pokemon Black and White: I would rewatch the same 5 episodes of the Pokemon B&W anime, and Deerling was the one that stuck out to me that I wanted. I was very sad when I got Pokemon White in the summer and only got Summer Deerling (I wanted pink spring).

Seeing Deerling evokes the scent of burning forests and ash, because at the time that I got Pokemon White, there was another California forest fire going on, but no other forest fire ever smelled like that one.

Sonic and the Black Knight: Game fucking sucks, my Nephew(4 years younger than me) and I were so frustrated playing it at the time that we played it out of spite, without a guide because we were stupid.

Sonic and the Black Knight evokes the scent of dirty sweaty socks because for the month that he was with us, that smell started to build up in our room, and it's the appropriate scent to go along with Sonic and the Black Knight.

I am genuinely beginning to despise Rapid City more and more.

Back in the Carson Valley, it was liberal enough that there were plenty of Trumpers, but none of them would've felt brave enough to voice their opinions towards a Native, but in this place, they're just used to it, because they feel like they genuinely do own this place, and that they have the right to lecture us about how "wrong" we are about our beliefs.

Though, my Dad says he appreciates being back in South Dakota, and seeing racists be upfront about their beliefs, unlike California where they were more sneaky about their racism to save face, but could y'all please go back to being sneaky about it, I don't need to hear your opinions.
