Haven't Watched S3 For These Exact Reasons
Haven't watched s3 for these exact reasons
missing season one when the only couple in the friend group were john b and sarah, like why did they have to ruin the characters' dynamics by pairing together every single character?? as if in order to have a "happy ending" you have to be with someone or else you'll be miserable
and don't even get me started on jiara, those two have the biggest siblings energy and they just end up together because of the annoying fans who harassed madison and rudy and pushed the jiara agenda ughh they had zero chemistry and it felt so forced that it physically hurt me to watch their interactions, every scene was just so so bland and boring and yet people love them? kiara lierally said "i love you dude" and jj was like "thanks, great" lmaoo what are we talking about?
the fact that even rafe and barry have more chemistry than them and with way less scenes together says a lot tbh
also i really hate the fact that the writers had kie be with every boy!! she's her own person and they did her dirty with all this stupid relationship business, just leave them friends for god's sake it's not that hard

Had a Kataanger telling me "but he's not the only one non consensually kissing a girl in the series"... I facepalmed myself into oblivion.
aang non-consensually kissing katara is definitely one of the worst kataang moments but don't forget that before that scene he literally says that he was so angry at the play that he would have triggered the avatar state if he hadn't blocked his chakra đ

Why do people even watch Chicago PD if they don't like Voight's character and think he's a monster?
Like, honestly, he's grey af, but
1. It's fictional. I use his actions as a tool to think deeper about my own moral compass, not to emulate him. We don't need perfect characters. We need characters who make us THINK and EVALUATE ourselves.
2. In his own way, he respects life. Else, he would not be out there becoming a beast everytime someone attacks an innocent.
No but Hank talking about Justin hits different because that was PDâs backdoor pilot in Fire; say what you want about Hank, he loved his son. I love how much things are tying back to the early years in PD/Fire. Hank may be morally grey but his not the monster the fandom makes him out to be. The fact that they killed off Justin still stings; I hope we get a scene with his grandson soon.Â
OUCH

OP thank you so much for sacrificing your opposable thumb to this topic đ
What Aangâs Relationship With His Kids Tells Us About His Relationship With Katara
Bumi: âOh, boo-hoo. Must've been real hard for you, flying around the world with dad, riding elephant-koi all day.â
Tenzin: âOh, so that's what this is all about.â
Kya: âThat's what it's always been about. You think you're some savior who has to carry on dad's legacy.â
Tenzin: âWho else is going to do it?â
Kya: âHow about all of us?â
Bumi: âYeah, we're Aang's kids too.â
The whole problem with this family is, Aang didnât believe that.
Aang has a long, undeviating track record of never questioning anything he believes about the Air Nomads. Who the hell has a perfect and complete understanding of their society, government, international relations, education system, religion, morality, genetics, and reproduction at age 12? According to Aang? He does.Â
The entire lynchpin of Aangâs Book 3 arc is all about how Air Nomads are pacifists and cannot ever under any circumstances harm a life. (Weâre going to ignore the body count Aangâs already wracked up over the first two seasons for the sake of preserving his feelings because those were soulless NPCs or something.)Â
And yet Aang never questions thisâŚ

Monk Gyatsoâs bones surrounded by a pile of Fire Nation soldier bones. The picture doesnât fit Aangâs image of Air Nomad peace and harmony, so he ignores it entirely. It NEVER comes up despite its overwhelming relevance to Aangâs internal conflict and the sorts of advice he seeks from authority figures in the third season (despite Monk Gyatso being the penultimate authority figure in Aangâs life).
Another thing Aang never questions?
Thereâs no such thing as a non-airbending Air Nomad. Theyâre just all born that spiritual. And spirituality is the golden key that unlocks bending. (Because Bryke said so.)
Despite Guru Pathik not being a bender. Despite the fact that Zhao, literal spirit murderer, is one. Despite Tophâthe most un-spiritual, cynical, feet-on-the-ground-head-nowhere-near-the-clouds member of Aangâs friend groupâbeing the most powerful bender of the lot. Despite Hama being a waterbender equal to none but Katara while completely cut off from her culture and turning her back on everything we believe about water bendingâs inherent ties to community, connectedness, and love (Irohâs words). Despite Azula mastering the god-tier lightning technique BECAUSE sheâs practically dead inside and values life least of all things. Despite the fact that Princess Yue has the literal MOON SPIRIT THAT IS THE SOURCE OF ALL WATERBENDING living inside her, and yet she still somehow manages to not be a bender.
Despite the fact that Air Nomads roam all over the world, sewing their wilds oats throughout every nation, yet no airbending toddlers ever crop up in Fire Nation or Earth Kingdom preschools.Â
Despite the fact that non-monogamous societies where men have multiple partners father more children and boost the population faster than in societies that favor âattachedâ relationships, yet the all-airbending Air Nomads still somehow have the smallest population of any ethnic group in the world.Â
Despite the fact that Aangâs twin, Ty Lee, is RIGHT. THERE. with her unparalleled aura-seeing, chakra blocking spirituality and her GRAY EYES in a world where color coding is ~totally~ not a thing⌠*sigh*Â

But nope. Air Nomad parentage = airbending child. Always.
So when Katara births a child that is⌠not an airbender? Not any kind of bender at all, in fact. Thereâs only one logical conclusion (in Aangâs mind).Â
That is not Aangâs child.Â
Aang never had a problem traveling with non-airbenders before. He was non-exclusionary by nature. Katara and Toph and Zuko were welcome. Sokka and Suki were welcome. The more, the merrier, in fact. Because Aang loves nothing as much as he loves an adoring audience.

Yet Bumi never travelled with Aang.

Bumiâs as old in this picture as Aang was in the first series. He had an entire decade in which he should have been the most important thing in his parentsâ lives. His personality was already more or less formed (not completed, but the groundwork was laid) by the time Tenzin came along. Bumiâs inferiority issues began long before there were any airbending children around to siphon Aangâs attention for training purposes.Â
Aang and Katara didnât have another child until Bumi was on the verge of adolescence because Aang was convinced that Katara cheated. And Iâm guessing it took Mr. âLet Your Anger Out, And Then Let It Goâ about ten years to forgive his wife and give her the chance to get it right. (Which is at least four years longer than he gave her to forgive her motherâs murderer, in case you forgot.)
Acolyte: âSorry, I thought you were the servants.â
Bumi: âWeâre Tenzinâs brother and sister!â
Acolyte: âAvatar Aang had other children? The world is filled with more airbenders?!â
Kya: âWeâre not airbenders.â
Acolyte: âOh⌠Iâm so sorry.â
The Air Acolytesâwhose whole identity, purpose, lifestyle, and religion center around every detail of this man's life and beliefsâdidn't know Aang had more than one child.
The best case scenario here is that Aang simply pretended his older children didnât exist because he was ashamed of them and made Katara keep them shut away at all times.Â
And maybe that could have worked⌠If Aang and Katara had ever had any privacy in their relationship. But they didnât.
The Air Acolytes have been following Aang and Katara since the comics. Theyâve been there at every step of Aang and Kataraâs life together. Observing. Fangirling. Emulating. Diefying. Looking for weaknesses in the relationship because Katara was only his âfirst girlfriend.âÂ

Yet, somehow, they didnât know Aang had three children.Â
I canât imagine a way for them not to know unless Aang actively told people, âThose arenât my kids,â and let Katara bear the shame and stigma of having the world believe she was unfaithful.Â
All because Aang couldn't entertain the idea that he was wrong about some facet of a society he never understood clearly.
The artworks are 80% of the reason why I got into Magic
God, what a cool fucking pair of cards. Especially these versions, with Kev Walker's art. Black and White getting the exact same effect, because the death of all fits both divine grace and unknowable horror.
And then Mr. Walker nails the fact that they're the same but different, with not just the inverted colors, but the way that Wrath of God explodes outwards, while Damnation draws all in.
