The Most Horribly Treated Character In Indian Cinema Is Probably The Hero's Sister. She Gets Molested,
The most horribly treated character in Indian Cinema is probably the hero's sister. She gets molested, kidnapped, used as bait, raped, gangraped, humiliated, at times publicly, beaten, tortured by her in-laws, burnt for dowry, murdered by her husband and so on. All this just to give the hero a tragic back story and justify his penchant for violence.
Everytime heroine is kidnapped or molested, hero would always reach there in the nick of the time, but he's always too late or helpless to save his sister.
And even if she escapes all these atrocities in rare cases, there must be atleast one scene where hero must protect her 'ijjat' from goons. Afterall, that's the only way it can be proved that he is a good brother, a good man, the perfect hero. And the only way brother-sister relationship can be portrayed on screen.

It's a shame how Cressida was treated at the end of season 3. I'm honestly so disappointed that the writers took the time to expand Cressida into a very sad, relatable, and sympathetic woman, who shows growth and furthers Eloise's character, only to throw it all away in the last four episodes.
Cressida's whole arc this season is that she's an old maid, unlovable, and can't find a husband. Her future is incredibly bleak: an impending marriage to a man three times her age, social isolation, and being outcast from everything she knows. Cressida is a woman with no real friends, a scornful mother, and a downright horrific father, so she tries her best to claw her way out of her predicament with the old husband. Albeit, not the best way, but not a despicable one.
Instead of receiving any sympathy, she's used as comedic relief, berated for "not being clever" by her mother and many other characters (which I found so out of character because Cressida has always been sharp and observant, ever since season 1 when she was Daphne's pseudo-villain. Cressida even discovers LW's identity in a single day which took the Queen herself three years.)
Then, at her lowest point, Cressida is blown off and later disparaged by Eloise once she reconnects with Penelope, for no real purpose or reason. Eloise calls Cressida a "viper," when Cressida was there for her in her loneliness, when no one else would speak to her.
Cressida never gets a real chance to talk to Eloise or truly anyone about her feelings, her fear- besides Lady Cowper. The scene where Cressida breaks down, telling her she's scared, was heart-breaking. How are we supposed to cheer for this? (For Penelope's sake? I don't think anyone good would wish for the punishments Cressida received for trying to save herself!)
Cressida's mother even comments on how Eloise abandoned her in her time of need. Eloise Bridgerton (at least the one I thought I knew from the first half of the season, the woman who calls upon Cressida because "she did not seem herself") would never do this. They wrote her and Cressida to have truly connected. Sure, maybe it begun out of spite, but nowhere did they show us the friendship "falling apart" as Eloise randomly claims to Penelope near the end. It felt as though there were several episodes missed. Though- to be honest, Eloise has felt out of character for a long time in this show. (I do blame a lot of this on the very rushed pacing, and the showrunner being heavily biased toward Penelope.)

Ok so I just rewatched Kiki's Delivery Service the other day and I particular thought occurred to me. This post is a positive rant and isn't articulate in any way so bare with me, but I love the fact that Kiki has a delivery service and it's just that, a delivery service
The story is about having passion and not falling for perfectionism and burnout, but stories like this are almost always reserved to people with Big and Interesting Jobs(TM) where they need to overcome multiple hurdles to make their masterpiece and maybe learn something along the way because sure, Kiki's Delivery Service took all of that and put it wholeheartedly into something usually looked at as a non-sexy job
The other two witches we see in the film: her mom a doctor, and the other little witch a fortune teller, and yet the film doesn't even entertain the idea of her underselling herself or not using her witchy powers for something "more important". She's bringing people little joys when delivering messages and gifts, and sure maybe those packages are just boring business deliveries sometimes but they still matter
what i'm trying to say is Kiki's Delivery Service gave us a story often reserved to sexy and cool jobs to something we'd usually deem mundane or boring and I love that it doesn't even treat it as such. There's no pushback to the nature of the work Kiki chooses to do at all!
you're laughing. The umbrella academy's final season destroyed every character's personal growth and semi-healed traumas, left huge plot-holes, completely abandoned some of it's most beloved side characters that were crucial in previous seasons and you're laugh-oh. You're crying. My bad. Go ahead. Let it out. Understandable.
This is a good theory.
To me it felt like it was written by AI.
I think my simplest overall problem with TUA season 4 (i have multiple) is the fact that it feels like a first draft. there's plotholes, unanswered questions, unnecessary parts and confusing relationships that don't really make sense. but first drafts get edited, season 4 of the umbrella academy clearly was not.
the bare bones of the season are good (the train, the jennifer incident, the timelines leaking into one) but it was missing so many things that shouldve been edited or delved into, like a first draft.
it's honestly such a shame. i, like everyone else, had high hopes for the final season but quite frankly it sucked.
