So I just got Netflix back and finally watched season 4 of the Umbrella Academy and can I just say

Okay everyone I have an amazing fanfiction idea I need someone to bring to life. It is a Ben Hargreeves x reader, you are also an umbrella but after Ben dies you can still see and feel him and he can still touch you. So say it’s like season 2 and you are staying with Klaus in his cult house and you are like pregnant with Ben’s baby (let’s say 6 months) and then when everyone time travels back to 2016 you see sparrow Ben and think he is your Ben. That’s all I have really but it’s just a brilliant idea. Thank you

how do you screw up a final season that bad? like even the actors didn’t even believe it. who in the world actually looked at that script and said "yep that’s a good idea".

guys i’m doing my best but i’m finding it really hard to hate five x lila it’s just too damn cute

here’s how we could’ve had a better season, instead of whatever the fuck that was. if you’re going to introduce the mary sue problem solver (the train station) at LEAST expand on it. season 1 five would’ve told his family about the train station almost immediately, what if they had all gotten lost in their own timelines? ones where they had never had to leave their ‘true loves’ ex. sissy, dave, sloane. that would be SO much more conflicting than just well everything is your fault you have to die ending. being faced with bring the universe back to solidarity and be possibly alone, or stay with your beloved and be doomed by the narrative. lila and diego could’ve been stuck in their ultimate crime fighting adventure lives separately and then slowly realized that kind of life wasn’t really what they were seeking. five could’ve been living a peaceful life with an old friend ‘delores’.

NO but the SECOND they found out that their dad killed Ben? The storyline from there should have been the siblings reverting back to season one, killing their dad, growing up with Ben and being actual little superheros, but all the good moments happen anyway, with Ben included.

Ben meets a girl called Sloane that he loves like a sister, luckily she marries his older brother Luther.

A girl with powers called Lila gets dropped off at their home, she's outcasted but Ben is kind to her, he's the one that convinces Diego to confess his feelings.

Ben babysits Claire whilst Allison is out at BLM protests with Ray.

Ben keeps Klaus sober and helps him control his powers, so when he meets a nice boy called Dave, Klaus can have a healthy relationship.

Ben is snarky, so he and Five have a great relationship, whenever Five goes out exploring, Ben is the one waiting up to make sure there's coffee upon his arrival. To make sure he ALWAYS makes it home.

Ben is the best man at Viktor and Sissys' wedding, helping Harlon tie his tie for him and there is absolutely no world ending crisis for the siblings anymore because Ben loves his brother Viktor, Ben is kind to him, so Viktor never feels alone.

Ben was what they were missing, the most important thing their father took from them, once they get him back, everything else is gravy.

Okay, I take back my original “how I wanted TUA to end” that I made a week ago and instead I want this:

The siblings realise the world keeps ending because they’re all in the same timeline. So in order to distribute the marigold, and save the end of the world, they all have to sacrifice being a family and never see each other again.

It ends with each sibling one by one (Lila and deigo come as a pair, I don’t make the rules) as they board the subway, each to their very own timeline in which the other family members don’t exist.

It’s heartbreaking, and for a family that were split and torn at the beginning of the series, the choice being made for them is even more heartbreaking because they’re a family now more than ever. But as they board the subway, we see a montage of them all in their HAPPY timelines, the beats of “I think we’re alone now” start playing and we realise, while the Hargreeves siblings finally have their happy ending, they are in fact, alone now. Cut to black. Cue BTS images.

No matter your opinion on these two, you gotta admit this shot was Renaissance-esque... so I painted it 🧍🏻

What we know about everyone’s powers so far in season 4:

Luther - eventually becomes big again (may or may not be monke)

Diego - still out here throwing knives, how it relates to his power remains uncertain

Allison - voice-modulated telekinesis or force generation, maybe? she can at least throw people by screaming

Klaus - might have to do with seances and the dead? also a decent chance that he can levitate based on the teaser

Five - spatial jumps seem to work normally, but are purple. I doubt he can time travel with the timeline all wonky (that’s where the subway comes in, I presume)

Ben - tentacles come out of his back instead of his front. also worth noting that he’s going to cause the apocalypse, and there’s orange stuff under his skin

Viktor - orange powers that look firey (might be his regular powers turned orange and firey, or may just be fire powers - my assumption is a combination of both)

Lila - laser eyeballs????

Sloane - we know nothing

What also bothers me about the whole Lila/Diego/Five bullshit is how it basically gives the message that married life sucks.

That once you get kids, a house, "boring" jobs and daily tasks, the romance goes to shit and your life is basically ruined.

Like...no. That was not supposed to be the message! Make them talk! Voice their problems with each other! Rediscover their passion for one another! Make them see how badass and adventurous their family life can be! Make them understand how lucky they are! How depsite of losing their powers and the thrill of what their chaotic life used to be, their new family life can be just as adventurous! Different, yes, but not worse!

I would love to see them grow as a couple. To see them overcome their pasts and embrace the change. To see them finally snap and realize they love each other. That it's still them against the world, but now it's also their family against the world.

But no, i guess it's better to make them fall apart and make the whole relationship toxic in the end 🤷🏼‍♀️ oh and turn Lila into a cheater...with her husband's brother. How truly epic...smh.
