day 2 update:

- whyyy couldn’t mando’a have been invented by a writer obsessed with languages instead of someone who only made up words when they needed them….

- did you know there are like no animal words? there’s no words for dog or anything canine-adjacent except strills and only a couple other words like shriek-hawks and bafflingly, lions??

- I have made up another several dozen new words by mashing other words together. if Star Wars ppl didn’t want me to do this they should’ve put a little more work into their fictional language

- I’m trying very hard not to think about the number of clones mentioned in like one episode who’s names I don’t even have on my chart yet much less translated

several hours into my attempts to give as many clones mando’a names as possible and I can proudly say: 1) I know literally nothing about english grammar much less mando’a grammar and 2) I have made up so many new mando’a words. so many.

there are several infuriating gaps in language like there’s one word for droid and almost nothing else technological lots of verbs+adjectives that I have to figure out the noun form of by guessing and vice versa did you know if u wanna make a word an adjective in mando’a you add either the suffixes -yc or -la and there’s no rules for which assigns to what words?? it’s just vibes i mean maybe it’d be harder if there were rules as opposed to ‘yeah whatever sounds better’ but still like with plurals you add -e if the word ends in a consonant and -se if it ends in a vowel except when you don’t! how do you compound words that are already compounds? which apostrophe do you remove??? we’re making it all up as we go baby!!

Day 2 final update: I’m starting to get a little creative with some of these names… they aren’t very good lol. if anybody has any mando’a names they like to use for their faves please… they’re probably way better than what I have lol
