The way to write something good is to keep working on it! I’m not trying to be overly positive or sound like a teacher—I learned this from experience. The more I work on my WIP, the more I learn about the world and intricacies of the characters. Seriously. I invented this idea and am still constantly learning new things about it several years later. I also learned to improve my writing style by trial and error. I know it’s hard, but at least for me, once I got past the initial “I don’t want to do this” vibe a few chapters in, I couldn’t stop.

Please keep working on the stories you started. I promise they will be good.

I feel like I start so many WIPs because each one sucks and I want to write something good, you know?

Helping teach kids writing has actually improved my writing. Now every time I have writer’s block I ask myself what sensory details I can use.

The Foundation Must Burn

Vy’s life in post-Convergence Seattle is anything but typical. They co-own a bar with their roleplaying group, half of whom are Visitors from other planes of existence; they can’t cast the most basic of spells, unless it comes from a mortar and pestle; and their half-daemonic ex-best friend might be just a little bit of a serial killer.

And, after learning the secret the Foundation for Magitechnical Advancement is keeping from the world, Vy’s not entirely sure they blame him.

Vy’s never been one to turn down a friend in need—even if Jules is the jerk who broke their heart, among other things—but as they get closer to the truth of the Foundation’s “Repatriation Initiative,” it’s getting harder to keep their nosy crew out of Vy’s probably-less-than-legal business. If Vy and Jules are going to bring the Foundation down, only one thing’s for sure: they’re going to need bodies. A lot of bodies.

Am I the asshole for stealing a horse?

I (18 f) was sent to a magic academy a few weeks ago. While here, I discovered a spirit hidden in a secret room in the tunnels under the school. Normally I would bridge the spirit—as it is my duty as a Spiritwalker—but I was struggling because she remembered nothing of her life. I needed more information to complete this task. That is when this girl who has been following me around suggested I leave for the weekend to another witch territory where they have the largest library in our country.

Since coming to the academy, I had been taking a horseriding course, which gave me the idea to take the horse. Walking would take me days and I could not ask the headmistress because she would not lend out a horse for this reason. I did not necessarily steal the horse because I brought her back and she did consent to go with me (confirmed by Aria, who can speak to animals). I also made sure she had plenty of water throughout the journey and made enchantments for her so she would stay strong and swift.

In the end, the information I gathered from the library helped me discover the spirit’s identity and put together her past. Using that information, I finally bridged her, so I do not see how I am in the wrong.
