I do the color thing too! I have synesthesia so each of their names appears as a different color to me and I now associate those colors with them. Sounds like you might have it too :)

As a former band nerd I must dictate which instruments my ocs would play if they were also band nerds.

Daron would play the piano. I think it takes a lot of skill to do two different things with your hands but she would be a natural

Catalina would play the cello. Very calming sound

Aria would play a drum kit. She has too much destructive energy and this is the only way to get it out

Cassidy would play the trumpet because she has a loud personality and because she’s basically me and that’s what I play

And Naomi would play the flute. A gentle sound for a gentle girl

Revised a scene in my wip by adding a few paragraphs of exposition. A minute later I rewrote one of the paragraphs as dialogue. Another minute later I left part of it as dialogue and rewrote the rest as another paragraph after the dialogue. This is about the 100th time I’ve done something like this

here are some of the substansial changes I’ve made while working on my second draft. I was a little lost while starting this draft so I hope this helps other writers who aren’t sure of changes that need to be made

changed a minor character’s name to better fit the story

scrapped the prologue and wrote a new one. then after further thought got rid of it altogether because not every story needs a prologue

added more details about what my mc is thinking

added more details about my worldbuilding—this includes more explanations of the magic system and the world’s history

fixed pacing by taking whole scenes out of crowded chapters and working them into other chapters

changed the locations of some scenes to give more uses to unique spaces I created and to better match the mood

gave a minor character something to do after forgetting about her a third of the way through the first draft

fixed two plotlines I forgot to resolve by tying them together so I only needed one solution

fixed a mary sue moment by making my mc’s action remain successful but result in lifelong consequences

rewrote a character introduction after realizing I wrote a similar introduction for a different character
