Now this was a little bit scripted but notice the roles they cast Jikook in?

Why was Jimin the one asked to flirt with JK? Didn't Hobi ask JM why he was looking at JK that way? And JM said he was asked to act that way to put pressure on JK and make him feel slightly flustered or sommin?

This moment shook the phone off Jin

And this was a highlight reel of a decade.

Do you see the camera lights flashing to capture that intense gaze of Jungkook's as he slowly melts upon realizing JM's intentions??

Bighit has always shared glimpses into Jikook's relationship- albeit gradually- and have always preferred to cast them in a certain way with a certain rhetoric and narrative to go with it.

They are never casted as bestfriends the way Vmin are and yet we know they are. There's always that obscurity, shrouded in mystery yet very much accessible it leaves room for interpretation.

On Ko-fi we talked about this. About how putting out like this helps demystify Jikook, normalize their behavior, put Bighit in charge of the narrative, and deter any self proclaimed celebrity buster who might think they have dirt on them because they've been sniffing their underwear from the trash can.

It's very Olivia Pope esque but also tried and true. Justin's team did it too. If you can't get behind it, get ahead of it.

I'm pretty sure any rogue staff who thinks they have dirt on Jikook cos they showed up on set one time with a hickey looks pretty dumb right about now.

It's not tea if BigHit themselves be spilling.

A bunch of 1yr olds throwing tantrums on the internet because their idols aren't allowing them fulfill their Y/N fantasies isn't backlash.

Backlash is when shit affects their business and goodwill. Any other thing is a nuisance and nothing a frivolous law suit won't fix.

I think BigHit is more open to suing Leticia473 than telling their high profile talents to frown around eachother.

Taking a break and disengaging for a while helps.

I am not one to simp for a multi billion conglomerate so I say burn bighit if they are doing all this to exploit the boy's relationship with no regards to their safety and mental health.

But I'd say too if anyone can beat down the barriers and push back against the homophobia prevalent within the fandom its Bighit and BTS with strategies like this.

The so called backlash is that voice that says you can't love who you love or do this and that with that person.

So I guess to me this nothing new honestly.

Like Bang explained to Jo Kwon, they can make a dent but it will take a while.

People need to get used to Jikook.

Let's show them as much love as we can whenever they drop content. The support we have for them must drown out the haters.

The queer baiting discussion is forever wild to me.

1, SK is sadly a deeply homophobic country, the thought that the big entertainment companies are writing gay fanservice scripts to squeeze a few dollars out of queer fans when I’m sure they’d rather not acknowledge they even exist is absolutely ludicrous.

2, Close, bordering on homo-romantic (to a foreign lens) friendships are common among young Koreans up to a certain age. The fact that k-pop stars grow up in an isolate bubble tend to extend those close bonds into adulthood. It’s not on them that foreign eyes read something else into it.

3, What western eyes read as queer baiting is generally elaborate y/n scenarios. (These are the things they sometimes do in skits on stage or in official content. Never the stuff they do backstage in their own time.) You’re not supposed to imagine the stars fucking behind closed doors, you are supposed to imagine that one of them is you. Again, these things are created for a local audience where any other read but straight would be uncommon. The intended audience knows the rules of the game, foreign audiences do not.

4, Idols are real people with real relationship, if they consistently read as queer to you maybe there is a reason for that. “Fanservice” is different shapes and forms occur in planned skits and official content. They don’t perform fanservice in their private time behind the scenes.

5, It is unfair to dismiss all expressions of queer love/closeness as queer baiting because these idols have very very limited opportunities to express themselves if they really are queer. They will most likely never be able to come out, not without ruining both their career and the careers of everyone who depend on them.

I get very frustrated when I see casual social media posts or analysis videos claiming to know exactly what Jungkook is feeling based on his body language or his facial expressions, and I feel like a lot of the harmful stereotypes and misinformation within the fandom come from these posts that are essentially based on guesswork. We never know exactly what is going on inside a person’s head, and we’re all just making our best guesses based on our own experiences and preconceptions about people.

So I wanted to write up a few examples of ways that I as an autistic person might read JK’s body language differently based on my own experiences and those of my close friends of other neurotypes. And I thought this blog might be a good place to share this. I’m not trying to say that Jungkook actually is neurodivergent in any particular way. However, he does have some behaviors that I relate to and that I think might be misinterpreted, so I want to provide some alternative explanations. I may be preaching to the choir by submitting this on Tumblr, but oh well, here we go.

1. Indirect Eye Contact

Something that really gets my goat (and the reason I decided to write this submission) is how the fandom often interprets the way JK stares off into space or at another person or at the ground.

Neurotypical people tend to prioritize eyes as “windows to the soul,” and they often assume that the direction in which the eyes are pointed is where the person’s attention is pointed. For neurodiverse people, that is often not the case. 

There are two big reasons for this: First, eye contact is very overwhelming for many people, so they will process information better while looking away. Second, many neurodiverse people have different types of audio processing difficulties, so in the chaos of a conversation or a lecture, or a concert, the person might have to “turn off” their eyes for a bit in order to focus all of their effort on listening. Some people describe this as “seeing the sounds,” where they even create their own subtitles for what is being said or try to visualize the content in some other way.

There is enough homophobia to deal with on a regular basis without logging on here and reading the 'takes' of people who think they are doing a moral service by calling Jikook 'shippers' out for 'shipping', or 'taking things too far', or being 'too convinced', or 'labeling people' (who must be presumed straight until explicitly stating otherwise). Until homosexuality is normalized in every society; until the trauma of centuries worth of generational stigma has been processed; until no one is expected to 'come out' or address their sexuality as if it falls outside of the norm; until we have equal rights, safety, dignity and representation everywhere; until no one on earth is murdered,fired, or lawfully 'punished' on the basis of their orientation, I reserve my right to interpret queerness and homoromanticism in art and actions where there is cause for me to do so.

By condemning all readings of romance in Jikook's content (see, Dynamite Christmas Remix selfie cam, MOTS1 Hickey, 'I'm Still Me', Tokyo GCF, Saipan GCF, 'Waking up and seeing Jungkook', ear sucking at RB, and much much more) you play into covert systems of homophobia. Is it ok for entertainment companies to "market using ships", but not ok for LGBTQ fans to engage in queer readings of content that explicitly seems to invite this? Is it ok for companies to wink at you and tease homoeroticism as long as you don't see it as in any way indicative of actual queerness, homoromanticism or coming from a subjective experience?

Art is sensual and often plays with aspects of eros. So must all reactions and interpretations of eroticism be natured heterosexual in order to not be seen as presuming, incorrect, or perverse?

There are many ways to say that you are intolerant of queerness. This one happens to be infuriating because so many people think they have a moral high ground. Just say you don't want your faves implicated in gay shit or that you don't even mind them seeming gay as long as we all assume it's just for show and for $$$ and move on.

I can't say why certain Jikook content is the way it is. I do not pretend to know their motivations or the motivations of their company. I think it would be very odd to think of certain things as nothing more than a string of coincidences or bad takes/wishful thinking. I may be incorrect. But please stop seeing queer people's expressions of connectedness, resonance and 'seen-ness' as crimes against the artists themselves.
