you make sure to be as quiet as possible to wake the blonde asleep next to you, slowly making your way out of his grasp and out of the covers.

“what’s wrong, my love?” he murmurs, brown eyes opening slowly still full of sleep.

“nothing, gonna use the restroom” you lie, kissing his temple softly, making sure his eyes were fully closed before you’re scurrying out the bedroom door and to the kitchen.

you place two little candles on the cake, lighting them before carrying the cake with a smile on your face and opening the bedroom door softly.

“happy birthday to you-” you begin to sing, a bright smile on your face when nanami looks completely blindsided, sitting up with more confusion on his face than happiness.

“happy birthday honey!” you grin, motioning for him to blow out the candles, which he does. promptly after he’s grabbing the cake from your hands and setting it on the nightstand, grabbing you by the hips and pulling you into him.

“thank you dollface” he smiles, kissing your lips before continuing, “but it’s not my birthday.”

your brows are furrowed and you’re practically ripping yourself from his hold, “yes it is? July 3rd? that’s today!” you tell him, “i saw the date last night it said it was July 3rd today” you shake your head, tapping his phone and seeing reading the date off the lockscreen (you can’t help but smile a little when you see its picture of you that he’d taken.)

June 3rd

“oh my god I’m an idiot” you mumble, “i stayed up all night making this cake for nothing” you laugh, letting kento grab you by the waist and pull you back into bed.

“oh darling you really should wear your glasses around the house” he smiles, nuzzling his nose into the crook of your neck and placing a gentle kiss on your collarbone. “I really appreciate it though, very sweet of you.”

you can’t help but smile, content with your lover appreciating your efforts as he hold you closer.

“I’ll call off work today, i need to celebrate my not-birthday with my lover” he whispers, making you grin and press a soft kiss to his lips.

“but for now how about we go back to sleep, im exhausted from staying up baking that cake” you giggle, making your way under the covers and curling up next to kento.

“i love you darling, thank you” he whispers, watching as your eyes shut from him softly running his calloused fingers up and down your back.
