placed a few charm orders recently, i barely bought any bc i ….. have no idea what i’m doing and don’t wanna overspend on my first attempt at this WAHA

For me this is a mandatory question... if you were a bug what bug would you be 🤨

unrelated but when i was a kid my friends and i had a “friend bug” aka every time we saw just a single love bug, we would decide it was the same bug as before

so for like 2 years at recess my friends and i would sometimes stop in amazement and point at a bug goigm Omg it’s Him (his name was Him)

anyways i think i’d be junebug beetle because i love warm lighting in dim rooms and walking full speed into doors on accident

fun update! for past month or so, i’ve started doing (mostly..) consistent sketches every other day in my sketchbooks for the first time in years AND!

MY FACES R CHANGING A LOT! it feels good.. like i actually know how to. draw a head now LOL and the style change hasn’t been as scary as i thought i would be

originally, i started doing it as a joke bc i told my friend “yk i’d probably figure out how to draw real good if i just. practiced everyday or so for 7 weeks.” and then he was like “ok. so do it”

so anyways here’s how much i’ve drawn since then (far left book i started at halfway point, far right i am 3/4 done)

2/7 weeks done!! yay

i don’t rlly work well with like. Grind Method, i’ve only been able to draw this much because the pages are small in size and i’m doing everything quick with pen and sharpie. Also! it’s just rlly fun to me! it’s not a chore, i just like drawing and i like feeling like i’m learning :’3

i think my style is shifting these days away from what ppl usually recognize it for but that’s ok with me

a lot of the habits i picked up that looked nice aesthetically were rlly hard to replicate bc my foundations wereeee SUPER WEAK (ie faces… ppl compliment them but i promise u i used to only post the ones that turn out nice and that’d be like. 10% of the time. and it’d take hours)

i’ll b a lot happier being able to consistently draw Nice faces quickly and repeatedly rather than one WOWWWW face every 3 years, yk

another add on is that i do the same lines in diff places and directions for diff hairstyles as well!! twists locs braids esp

hi thank you!!! sorry this took me forever HAHA i wanted to put together a coherent detailed thing but realized i uhhh honestly don’t think that hard abt it when i draw

i tend to just plan out the hair parting n hairline

and then i just simplify n stylize curls by only drawing the front half of the curl? like this ^^ i like drawing them in an implied sort of style

rest of advice i’d give is to just observe how real hair sits (ie looser curls being more visible from further away n coming off as bigger etc etc) n how other artists draw hair !
